Negative Stars (if I could) for their bait and switch games!!! I wanted to get my acrylic nails filled but could only pay with AMEX, so I called around to see if I could find a place that would take me. Since most nail salons don’t take AMEX. I verified on the phone twice that «yes» they took American Express. Then prior to sitting down I asked again if they took American Express and was told «yes.» Then after she took off my acrylic nails she asked if I had another form of payment. To which I responded no and that I only had my American Express on me. She then said they didn’t take AMEX and couldn’t continue. What sneaky liars!!! Get me in the chair, take off my acrylics so my nails look ugly, and then bring up the fact they want another form of payment.

My place «open 7 days» in Burlingame was closed today (Sunday), so I was on the hunt! I recalled seeing this place before in passing so I drove a bit farther and they were open and let me walk in for a pedi for which I was desperate!
My nail tech was «mature» and knew what she was doing — no nonsense! I like that!
I’ll def come back here!

I used to love this salon when it was run under the ownership of Tammy! I went twice after the owner has changed. The first time, I didn’t know about the change so I just walked in as I always do, and the new owner was friendly and kind. She did my manicure, and she was really good. But the lady who did my pedicure was mediocre. The second time we went on Mother’s Day with my friend to get a pampering, but they were really sloppy and didn’t even offer a cup of tea or water as they used to do even on regular days.
My friend chose a more expensive type of manicure which included a glass of wine as it said in their brochure, but they didn’t even offer anything. When my friend asked about it, the owner said that she is not offering the wine anymore, because there had been problems in the past! But, she was’t even going to mention it if my friend didn’t ask about it.
They also put the color I picked back in the shelf by mistake, and when it was time to color my nails she offered me another pink which was not the one I had chosen. The girl who did my manicure was one of the worst nail polish colorists I had ever seen! I myself could color it better! So, I had to stand up and look over again to find my color. We left without a tip, and I won’t be returning back!
When Tammy was there, Mother’s Day was a special occasion when she served cake for her customers. She will be missed!

I can only comment on waxing.
To start, it’s kind of hard to find this place because they don’t have a sign out front, just one on the mai road on the sidewalk.
I came in just for a lip wax. And thank goodness that was all.
To start, when I went into the room, I was afraid. it was very dark, smelt mildewy and did not look like the towel I was supposed to lay on had been washed in a long time. I didn’t lay down at first because I thought they were going to cover it with a paper to be more sanitary… nope!
Why didn’t I leave yet? I wanted to give them a chance. I said back and when she went to put on the wax, it did not go on smoothly, it went on like the wax had been heated and cooled too many times and lost some of it’s original properties. She also did not do it very neatly. It’s a lip, it’s two swipes, not 8 dabs of waxing. While she was doing it I was cringing.
Thank goodness I didn’t get my eyebrows waxed. I don’t know what kind of mess that would have been.
When I left, I looked in the mirror and there was still wax left on my lip and tissue! What?! What if I didn’t drive there and went alone walking and shopping! Sloppy.
Bottom line, $ 7, not the cheapest lip wax, definitely not the best. I don’t want to imagine what kind of Brazilian they do…

This is the worst manicure/​pedicure experience I’ve ever had. There were flies swarming as I got my pedicure, my manicure was completely smudged and there was nail polish all over the exterior of the nail.
When I went to pay I complained about the manicure and the woman next to me (who was also getting her nails done) took one look at my nails and told the manicurist I shouldn’t pay. In fact, several people in the salon were appalled. They still charged me and didn’t even apologize. Oh, and it was $ 40. I have gone to salons that charge under $ 30 and do a much better job. If I’m going to be spending $ 40 I want a good experience, but I at least expect a decent manicure. DO NOT GO HERE.

I’ve been back 3 times since the new ownership so I feel I’ve given them a fair chance. Unfortunately I will not be returning.
The first time the new people did an excellent job. Second time was terrible and sloppy. Third time was decent but not great.
The rudeness this last time was absolutely appalling. I arrived a few minutes before my appointment and was picking out a color. I was there for maybe a minute before one of the girls came up to me and insisted I needed to go to a chair right now. So I just grabbed a color and went — there was only 1 other person there with 3 employees so they were not busy. Then she asked if I wanted a gel mani again which I replied «yes, French». She says «No, I do color». She kept arguing with me about doing color but I insisted French. I’m guessing she just didn’t want to do it. Another lady walks in (there is still one girl not working on anybody) and they tell her to wait 30 mins. She says she’s not waiting she has an appointment so they took her. Then I witnessed the lady working on one of them tell her she needs her eyebrows done. She looked mortified and says no.
I miss the old Tammys :(

So I personally contacted Tammy and she no longer owns Tammy Nails anymore. It has been brought and sold over to a new owner. Sorry to tell you ladies but Tammy and the old staff are gone. Do not let them fool you into thinking Tammy is gone or on vacation.
It is officially grieving period now for our nails ladies and gents.

I had the same experience as Trisha L.
I called in and specifically asked that D do my nails. When I arrived they quickly got me in the pedicure booth but another person arrived to do my nails. When I asked about D they just said he was gone. They all looked suspiciously back and forth at one another just kept saying he’s gone. I was very confused by what that meant. I thought something tragic had happened to D. I came onto Unilocal to check out the store and I guess, they are retired?
Anyway, the girl did my shellac but I’m doubtful I’ll be going back. The person answering the phone and handling the people who came in the door just didn’t seem to care.
At this time, I would not recommend this place. If I go back Ill post an update.

I am very upset with Tammy’s nail salon. I have been coming here for three years and adored the owner and workers in the salon. I requested that Connie complete my manicure and pedicure. I arrived on time and noticed that NO ONE looked familiar. I asked if Tammy or Connie were in and they said they were on vacation. The person on the phone never, ever said that the salon was no longer owned by Tammy and that all of the previous manicurist were gone. I kept asking about Tammy, and they kept avoiding the topic.
The place was filthy and I am very angry that the entire staff lied about the salon. I will never return to this salon. I still cannot believe that I went to the salon thinking that Connie would be completing my manicure and pedicure. I was lied too and I am very unhappy and quite frankly angry.

Decided to give this place a try over the weekend since I was in the neighborhood. This is truly the worst experience I have ever had. When I walked in, I was ignored for the first 10 minutes, then when finally I was told that I could be seen, I waited another 15 minutes just to get a seat in the chair, even though 3 of them were empty. The ladies there were just walking around and doing nothing. Well, it’s sunday I thought, I will wait. I started off with a pedicure, which in reality was just the light washing of my feet. Well, they did clipped my nails, and put some lotion. Then I waited another 20 minutes until I was started on my Shelac Manicure. At that point I was a bit irritated, but kept my cool. The lady who started on my nails had some cold and seriously was just sniffing everything in, trying to wipe the eccess boogers with her hands and then kept on working on mine. In the middle of my manicure, she did ask me to go wash my hands. That was helpful! To top all of that, the job she was doing was horrific. She could not cut cuticles or file the nails. I asked her to remove a little more here and there to which she just replied with a huff and a puff. Then she proceeded with putting on a polish. Seriously, a 2 year old could do a better job… She was trying to fix it, but could not do it and at that point she decided to call for help. Another manicurist came by and resumed the painting. My hands do look like they were done by a 2 year old, and it al cost me $ 50.00. I will never come near this place! I am embarrased to show my hands!!!

I walk in last Monday! I was looking for a place to get my nails done, where i usually goes and most of the places are closed on mondays! The ladies are very nice, make you feel welcome! I got french manicure, the best i got in my live! !! I strongly recomended!

Tammy’s nail studio is fantastic. I’ve been going here for well over a year now and couldn’t be happier. I even moved away for awhile but still came down to see my gal Tammy, who does the most phenomenal job on my gel nails. All the staff is super welcoming, very accommodating, prices are completely reasonable, and they do great work. Couldn’t ask for a better nail spot!

My first time here and several things stood out:
— One lady checked the nail polish I picked out just to make sure the nail polish was still in good quality.
— My nail lady brought me a cup of water and peanuts. Nothing fancy but I appreciated it.
— They were not rushing, so no cuts at all. I don’t know how many times I’ve been cut so badly because nail technicians were rushing.
— Basic pedi includes fresh orange and hot stones massage. Smelled wonderful and felt great.

On one hand, I feel bad giving them a «meh» review because when I went I didn’t have an appointment and they were kind enough to see me anyway. On the other, I’m not totally happy with the results.
I dropped off a friend at the medical place next door, and since I had 90 minutes to kill, popped in to see if they could fit in a manciure for me. I was told yes, they could, but it would be a few minutes. I said no problem and took a seat.
Within 5 minutes my tech came out. The manicure itself was okay (she did a good job on my really bad cuticles, she shaped the nails well) but her polish application was not good. There is some polish on my cuticles and the polish on my left hand is full of air bubbles. To be fair, I had brought in my own polish (I happened to have it with me because I had brought it to my pedicure appointment at another place earlier) but it is OPI so it is decent stuff and my pedicure person had no problems giving me a bubble-​free finish.
I also didn’t like the fact that she pushed me to come back. I understand that repeat business keeps their doors open, but jeez. I told her I lived in the East Bay and only happened to be in town because I was doing a favor for a friend. Regardless, she pushed me to return. I finally said that I would because I was uncomfortable. She did thank me several times for coming in and thanked me for being patient during my wait, which was kind. It makes me wonder if other people minded a 5 minute wait — I hope not!
Perhaps if you live in the area you would have a better experience. I don’t feel like she rushed my polish, but perhaps she did because she knew I really wouldn’t be back? I don’t know. The manicure only cost $ 15, so very reasonable if you want to try and see for yourself.

Just new to Redwood and decide to try Tammy’s. you really can’t find many nail salons with great ratings so I thought this would have to do. I should have known better. =/
Went in yesterday for a pedi/​full set acrylic. $ 60. A bit too much for my taste as my acrylic was no more than regular white tip and clear powder. (Not the pink and white powder.) pedicure was mediocre as my French tips (line) were lopsided and not attractive. I got my nails done After my pedicure, so more unnecessary time spend at the salon. I got TAMMY, and she was less than nice. No personality whatsoever, with me or the other customers I happen to see her with. She came by and asked if I wanted white or clear tip. Which I’m new school now so happen to be lost in the beginning. So I asked White powder with the clear tip correct? Well, she said No. With the lack of personality and uninviting demeanor I decide ok, old school white tip, easy enough. (Didn’t want to find out she was horrible at doing white/​pink powder) She nicked my cuticle a few times and was oblivious to the fact that she was drawing blood. My nails came out descent with a bit of battle scar. One star for you TAMMY.

the ladies here are always top notch, they offer nuts and water, they are willing to try a new design without question, they do a quality job in every service they offer. i wanted a pedicure and a fill on my nails, we had a good time and laughed often, they have 2 child pedicure chairs, that are adorable.

I’m one of those girls, that enjoys the same nail place for a while, then… eventually… I get bored. Nail places are like guys. When you’re first dating, they are on their best behavior and show your their best attributes right off the bat. Then over time, when they think they know they have your business and what they might consider loyalty, the work gets sloppy.
So far, Tammy’s best has remained the best. The ladies here are professional, a little bit more mature than other places and extremely hard workers! I especially love the pedicures. These ladies aren’t afraid to get down and dirty with the scrubbing, filing and perfection of my toes and feet.
They also have lots of artistic talent there with all the nail designs I’ve seen and some that I’ve requested.
They are open seven days a week and I’ve never had to wait any time I’ve walked in whether it be the weekend or midweek.
Me and Tammy’s Nail Studio are going strong. I’m all about consistently good quality and these ladies have nothing but that!

I got a pedicure there last week and it was fantastic. The staff was welcoming, nice and friendly. They serve you tea or water and a snack with your pedicure. The foot and leg message wasn’t short either, it was great. She took her time, didn’t rush and did a great job.
I definitely recommend this salon and will be going back again.

Their prices are really reasonable and I have done both shellac and acrylic and loved both. They lasted a decent amount of time and if for any reason your nail polish (shellac or not) chips in the first few days, you can come in and they will fix it for free.
The staff is very welcoming and sociable and always have water, tea and snack for you to enjoy while you’re getting beautified. The pedicure service was well done and very relaxing — I felt great when I was done and both my toes and fingernails looked clean, well done and long lasting. I have never had any waxing done here, but I would definitely recommend Tammy’s for any nail service you’re looking to have done!

Are you kidding me? Looking at all the reviews here I thought it would be good to drop in for a quick wax on my lunch break. Maybe since most of the reviews were for nails, I should have thought twice!
THE GOOD
CHEAP…$ 10 for a lip and chin wax!
Decent job, my hair is very fine and light and she got about 95% of it.
THE BAD
FILTHY AND I MEAN FILTHY… I should have walked out when I noticed the grimy walls and the stained and dirty towel on the table, but the lady covered it with paper so I just went with it, hoping I didn’t catch anything. I REALLY should have looked at the wax station BEFORE getting waxed because as I stood up to leave, I glanced over to see the nastiest wax station ever, honestly I immediately thought… oh shit am I going to leave here with some flesh eating disease?
I don’t know what people are talking about when they said this place is clean… I mean everyone has their own idea of clean but come on!
