Established in 2012.

We are a family business that want to provide an affordable and fast, friendly service to our community. We serve the community of San Diego, Kearny Mesa, Clairemont Mesa, Serra Mesa, Linda Vista, Carmel Valley, Mira Mesa, University Center, and other local communities.

We are open everyday. However, there are some days we might have to close early due to my children’s schools.

Please call ahead and make an appointment if you would like to come in after hours. We also welcome walk-​in visits.

my husband, who notoriously hates Unilocal (give him a break — we hail from LA where Unilocalers LITERALLY left one star reviews for a restaurant who couldn’t seat them because it was on fire when they arrived), just told me, «you have to write a review for the smog check guy!» his review, «he was awesome and super nice and i would just say, ‘that place is great and the guy was efficient. and nice!’» so there you have it — a trustworthy and pain free experience for a smog check.

WOW, fastest smog test ever !!! Faster than In & Out lines. I had to ask are you sure it’s done? Apparently the newer test machines are faster. Very nice and honest owner, great service, Open Sundays. Comfy leather couch for waiting but for me there was no waiting.

It was the last day for me to get a smog check before my temporary tag expired so I was frantically trying to find a smog shop open early in the morning. I drove by A & P at about 8 A.M. and saw the fence was unlocked, I drove up and asked them if they could smog me. Chris was the gentlemen who was helping me and he did a great job! He said that he could get on it right away. I handed Chris all of my DMV paperwork and he told me relax. About 15 – 20 minutes later he came back and told me that I passed the smog check! I did not call ahead to make an appointment or anything and they helped me out. I was out of A & P Smog Check by 8:30 which gave me plenty of time to go to the DMV.
I would recommend this A & P to everyone. Quick, Friendly, and Great Service!!!

We had a very peasant visit this morning to A & P Smog Check. I did not have an appointment, but was there as they were opening (the renewal was due today — on a Sunday). Very friendly and provided a decent price. Told us it would be 10 – 15 minutes. Probably was — we had taken one of the grandsons for a walk and when we returned, it was good to go. I’ll likely return the next time one of my vehicles needs a smog check.

I called in yesterday to see if I can bring in my car but unfortunately, the owner had to close down the shop early to run some errands. Since there’s no appointment necessary, he told me to bring in the car whenever. Anyway, as soon as my brother and I got there, he confronted us with a great welcome! After taking all my information down, he went straight to work and finished in less than 10 minutes. It was my first time going to this smog shop and I’m very satisfied with Chris’s service! He was very professional and courteous! I would definitely go back here and recommend him to anybody!

Chris is THE BEST!!! was looking for a good star certified shop to smog my car! came across A&P Smog and I was completely satisfied with their service! He even gave me some much needed advice on having my car running perfectly!

Chris is the best!!!
I’ve called around other places closer to my house and the other places will give me hard a time about not having an appointment or trying to come in after work (5pm-​ish).
Both times I’ve needed a car smog with short notice, A & P smog has always been there for me. NO appointment needed and he gets it done FAST!
He asked if we wanted to grab a quick bite and he was already done before we got back.
I wouldn’t go anywhere else for my smog other than A&P.

I could bad mouth another shop or give a positive review to A&P. Went to the other shop due to their coupon. Next thing I know, they need to replace a hose at a cost of $ 117. Wanted a second opinion so I came to A&P. They are next to a repair shop I use. I needed a STAR smog test and I didn’t know A&P could perform STAR tests. Mechanic completed the test in 10 minutes. No repairs needed.

Reasonably priced, super fast, simple and SO FRIENDLY… What more can you ask for? I needed the STAR certified smog with my registration this year, so I had to find a new spot. So relieved that I was in and out of here in just 15 minutes yesterday. The guy was so friendly and offered me a discount as well. Phenomenal experience. Was done in less than 10 minutes. Owner Chris was incredibly warm and personable. I’m thrilled to have found this place by accident and I’ll never go anywhere else. I rarely take the time to write Unilocal reviews, but the service was so outstanding that I feel compelled to spread the word!

The owner, Chris, provided great customer service. He explained the process and helped me understand a few issues I had questions about.
I first went to his shop shortly after a new battery had been installed in my truck. He checked the electronics and realized the system needed to re-​calibrate (?), requiring driving for 100 miles or so. Appreciated he checked this first before hooking the truck up to the testing system…
I went on a road trip to Baja, put 1000 miles on the truck and returned to his shop. The truck passed, Information was sent to DMV electronically and I went to Auto Club to get the new tags– easy peezy!
Chris even deducted a few dollars off the final bill since I had been referred by another local business.
So 5 stars for service, professionalism, and a good price.
Go see Chris at A&P– he’ll take good care of you and your vehicle.

This month was the dreaded time of year… time to smog and re-​register my car! Ugh… I had been puting it off and finally had some free time over the weekend so decided to get it done. My boyfriend’s Jeep also needed a smog so we decided to go together. When we arrived there was no one else there so our cars were seen right away. The man asked for about 25 minutes to finish both cars so we walked down the street to Weinerschitzel and had lunch. By the time we finished our hot dogs and came back, both cars were done and ready to go. I was very happy with how friendly and fast the service here was!
The only thing holding them back from 5 stars is price. He charged us $ 50 per car when I was sure he’d cut us a deal for bringing in two cars. There are many other options for smog tests down Miramar Road and in Poway that charge about $ 30 or so for the same service.

This is officially my new go to Star certified smog station! I had the pleasure of doing business with the owner, Chris, who was very pleasant and friendly. I called before bringing my Dad’s truck in and was greeted upon my arrival. Chris had me in and out within 15-​minutes. This shop has the best price in town (trust me, I called around!) and I am happy to refer as many people as I can. Chris also offers a free re-​check (within 30-​days) if your cars fails the first time. Awesomesauce!
Side Note: When you turn on to Armour Street you will see «A&H», but don’t worry… it’s the same business. Hope this helps!
