A hidden gem of mira Mesa! The staff is honest and kind. They have amazing croissants and breakfast sandwiches. I’m so happy to start buying my coffee and treats from here instead of Starbucks.

Craving a donut we decided to check out this local donut shop. There’s a lot of competition in the area, so the bar has been set. I’ll start with the pros: The egg, cheese, and ham croissant I had was yummy :) Freshly made in a buttery soft croissant.($ 4) The freshly squeezed OJ totally hit the spot.($ 3.50) The maple bacon bar… WOW! The bacon was perfectly crisp atop the sweet maple icing.($ 2.50) And 7 donut holes for $ 1 was a great addition. The lady at the counter was pleasant. The cons: Their menu is totally misleading. Their fresh juices come in 2 sizes but they only have the 16oz price listed($ 3.50) and not the 24oz($ 4). And they assume you want the 24oz without asking. Very sneaky way to upcharge the customer. So when I questioned the price difference I got the 2 different size answer, and had to backtrack and request the 16oz. Their donut holes although they look tasty(I was especially eyeing the crumb donut holes) leave a lot to be desired. They were very dense donut holes. The maple bacon bar while delicious, is very pricey at $ 2.50 each! I was pleased to see that they accepted credit cards(who carries cash anymore, lol) and then disappointed to see that they charge a $.50 fee on any amount to use a card. Another sneaky way to upcharge the customer, especially when I spent over $ 11 at a donut shop! Lots of donut shops in the area, explore your options. #sandiegofoodgirls

I come here almost every weekend to grab a breakfast sandwich and freshly squeezed OJ! I usually get croissant sandwiches but when they have onion or garlic bagels available, I get a bagel sandwich. Their sandwiches are very good! I get the bacon, egg and cheese and they put a generous amount of bacon. You also have a choice of American or Swiss cheese. The orange juices don’t come with ice since they’re squeezed upon ordering. As for the donuts, I used to honestly dislike them from here. I decided to try a half dozen and make my family the guinea pigs. The donuts are very soft, airy and sweet. I was very impressed with how much they improved. California Donuts has interesting toppings on their fancy variety, like Apple Jacks, Fruity Pebbles and crushed Oreos!

I was craving a bagel with cream cheese for breakfast this morning. And since I’m a big a time Unilocaler and was in the Mira Mesa area dropping my son off at his day care, California Donuts was the top choice on the Unilocal that was nearby. Definitely worth it! The service is super friendly. I ordered an everything bagel with cream cheese and a vanilla cappuccino. Warm, delicious and affordable!

Was really hoping this place was good since I live really close by. Prices were decent and the donuts looked really good. I got a red velvet cake. Sank my teeth into the cake and all I could taste was oil. I couldn’t even taste the glaze on top. I was so sad and disappointed :/

I purchased 2 dozen for a meeting a little later in the day. The donuts looked pretty but they were not that fresh. They also stated that they will charge you 55 cents for using your credit card and the cashier charged me a dollar. My advice is if you want fresh show up early and eat early. I have bought donuts from other donuts shop and they were still fresh later in the day, I am supposing it is the grade of ingredients and exact know how to make a donut. Donuts are an exact science you just can’t wing it. I do have to say the chocolate cake with peanuts was not to bad though. In a pinch I would come back.

So this is my second time here, and the first time I absolutely LOVED it, and we got a dozen donuts, donut holes, and coffee for my husband and I. We both were telling everyone how awesome the place was after that experience. Today I got a plain bagel with cream cheese and a fresh squeezed juice, my husband got a breakfast sandwich and plain coffee. My juice, first of all, was to die for, I drank the whole thing almost instantly. My bagel was warmed with fluffy and creamy cream cheese. Perfect experience for me. My husband got a sausage egg and cheese sandwich on a poopy seed bagel and he loved it. I will always come here, because not only is the food consistently amazing, but the service is so wonderful as well. They are such nice people and want nothing more than for you to be completely satisfied with your order. Love, love, love!

The donuts here were a-ok. I stopped by one morning after night shift to surprise my husband with donuts. The donuts were decent and average. Nothing really more to say? I bought 6 for $ 4.99 and they are normally $ 0.89 each. Parking is ample and it is next to Rita’s and Little Cesar’s Pizza.

Better than any donut place in SD. Hands down! I love the ham egg and cheese croissant. Their caramel mocha frap is soooooo good too! The customer service is great too. I’ll definitely be back to try their donuts. 5 stars

Their donuts are the best! I have gone to other donut shops and there is no comparison. Plus the best service. Must stop here and support local businesses. You won’t be disappointed.

This place is off the chart awesome!!! Maria is amazing. The first time I went in there was to get a bagel and she mentioned they have bagel sandwiches. I ended up with the Turkey Bacon Avocado Bagel and it was exactly what I needed. Now I eat there for breakfast 3 – 4 times a month. They have a large selection of bagel breakfast sandwiches and their donuts reign supreme. Try the bacon maple bar, the fancy apple fritter, or the oreo panda bear. You guys are awesome!!! Keep it up!

The donuts were delicious and I would definitely come here at least once a week if I lived nearby. The line wasn’t bad but what did suck was that they didn’t have their entire selection of donuts available. Which if you drive outta the way to come here it may not be worth it if they don’t have what you want. I feel like since they are open 24⁄7 they should always have every donut available. Especially the panda one which I’m sure of very popular(they were out of it when we went, along with many others).

My coworkers and I were in the mood for some donuts but none of us are from this area. We googled the closest donut shop & this cute little donut place popped up! Decided to give it a try and I’m glad I did! Upon entering, a sweet lady greeted me with a friendly smile and gesture. Being that it was my first time, she gave me some options of donuts! I loved the variety and look of the donuts. She also offered me a drink in which I chose an iced coffee for today’s 90 degree weather that was delicious!!! While she was ringing me up, she greeted another customer walking in(great customer service in my opinion!) and gave me my change. We had a little convo about me being new to the area, and she welcomed me back with open arms. Besides my iced coffee I also purchased the California Dozen which is 14 donuts for only $ 8.99!!! Crazy cheap! People here complaining about the 50 cent charge for debit/credit cards are ridiculous & cheap. SUPPORTYOURLOCALBUSINESSPEOPLE!!! Its freshly made!!! 50 cents is not the end of the world. In conclusion, this place was CLEAN, FRIENDLY, &AFFORDABLE! I will definitely continue to purchase here. Yummy in my and my coworkers tummy’s!

I usually base the quality of a donut shop by the basic glazed donut. Well, they definitely make a perfectly glazed donut. Better than the franchise joints for sure. I also had the red velvet cake donut but was not impressed. I won’t buy that one again.

Awesome staff and great bear claw donuts and any other filled donut with apple filling is a MUST! They’re even willing to make mixed fruit drinks(made me an orange and carrot juice drink).

Love this mom& pop donut shop! One of my favorite places to get donuts! They have a variety of freshly made donuts from glazed donuts to jelly filled donuts — any donuts you’re in the mood for, I bet you they got it! They also have an amazing breakfast menu, check that out as well if you ever stop by! They also sell hot & cold drinks, breakfast, and sandwiches. Customer service is beyond my expectations. The workers(owner is a lady) are very nice, welcoming, and helpful. Parking is plentiful and spacious! The restaurant itself is very clean and donuts are displayed very organized and nicely.

I have nothing negative to say about this donut shop. It’s owned by a very sweet, nice lady who handles customer service very well, and has excellent donuts to boot. So many choices! I came here two days in a row, actually, and of course the time I came at 7:50 am versus 11 am were vastly different in that there were a lot more choices earlier in the day, and it was a lot busier before 8. The first time I enjoyed a good double-chocolate coconut donut, and took donut holes to work, which were a hit. People commented on how soft and fresh they tasted. I also tried their iced coffee, which was fresh and delicious. And I’m picky about iced coffee. The second visit was because I’d raved to BF about the treats and he had to check it out for himself. We tried the maple bacon bar(YUM), and the red velvet and chocolate old-fashioned. They didn’t have as many donuts as they’d had before 8 am, but still a pretty solid selection. It smelled great in the shop so they were probably making more for the rest of the day. Of course, the maple bacon bar was priced more than the regular donuts(each $ 0.89) — it was bigger and had more ingredients. Bacon isn’t that cheap. It was reasonable, and the hot coffee I got was very cheap — $ 1.39 for a medium cup(at least 16 oz, maybe 20) that was very good. I don’t get how people can complain about the prices. The owner and her employee on each day were very polite and helpful. The owner remembered me when I came back on the second day and greeted me warmly, and it reminded me how nice it is to support local businesses. Next time I will bring cash, because yeah there’s a $ 0.50 charge to use any card, but also it is a huge hassle for small businesses to run the cards. If it wasn’t so diet-unfriendly, I would visit this shop every day.
