City Heights Auto Repair

I had a few dents on my relatively new car. I went out and got roughly 7 or 8 estimates to do the body work and repaint. City Heights Auto was reasonably priced and had a paint booth so I figured I was in good hands. I could not have been any more wrong. To their credit the body work looked great. However, the paint job looked like it was straight out of someones back yard. It was lumpy, dirty, the metal flake was spread unevenly and the final buff job was horrible. When I brought my car back and complained the owner said it was an extra $ 300 to color sand the car correctly and and that was not included in the cost of the paint job. I was speechless but felt trapped and wanted my car to look good so I paid. When I picked my car back up the paint looked better but now the clear coat was over sprayed all over the window trim, rear trim and tail lights. Also, there were chips in the clear coat all over the wheel well edges. I was furious and told the owner the job was unprofessional and unacceptable. After they took my car for a third time it finally looked presentable but still not professional. They sanded the seal off of all the window trimmings, some of the plastic covering the lights and there is still residue in all of the seams and gaps around the car. The car looked better with the dents than it does with no dents and the current paint job. Although the owner was always nice and courteous the service was absolutely terrible. I would not recomend getting paint work here to anybody.

I do not recommend this place. They will overcharge people who know less about cars (ahem, women), the usual victims to auto repair shops.
Auto repairs are always difficult to review because there are two types of people who come into them: well-​informed people who know what they want, how much time it will take someone else to do, and therefore, can bargain down quotes as needed. Then there are women who are obvious victims to these types of places, because they only know what’s wrong, not how long it will take to fix or what needs to be done to fix it. Unfortunately, we women become targets because it is easier to take advantage of us and overcharge us for very simple things. They say some words we don’t understand and in 10 minutes, you’re out a hundred bucks and you think… if it only took 10 minutes, why did it cost so much?
So, if you’re a regular and you know the guys and you know a thing or two about cars great, any auto repair will likely be good for you if you think the price they charge is reasonable. But, if you don’t want to go to a repair shop that takes pleasure in ripping off the ignorant, stay far away. In this male-​dominated industry, I would much rather find a place where a shop will not succumb to gender stereotypes.

Well, since there are only two other reviews I’m assuming people in SD don’t know about this little gem! GREAT GREAT place. the owner is extremely friendly and only wants to take care of what is needed. Won’t mention the price since every car is different, but it was competitive and he didn’t try to convince me to get work done that wasn’t needed. He actually called me to tell me that what I brought it in for wasn’t necessary! Nice to have someone be honest and save me 100’s =)

Very happy with City Heights Auto. Saved me a ton of money & did excellent work. They even fixed my seat control without asking & no extra charge. They go above & beyond. Honest & very reasonable. Stand behind their work.
