Delicious round pastry with red bean and walnut filling. Each pastry is wrapped in white tissue paper. You can either order a gift box with each individually wrapped pastry, or skip the gift box and order a bag of the individually wrapped pastries.
The walnut pastries are somewhat sweet due to the red bean filling. I think it’s a great addition to any dessert table (see pic) and a great option for a potluck. A bag is only $ 10.50 for 30 pieces.
Call ahead for any orders, and they’ll keep the pastry walnut balls warmed up until pick up!

really yummy little bites of warm goodness and very reasonably priced. it’s in the zion food court just a few doors down from paris baugette.
it’s a trifecta of walnut shaped dough (pancake like texture) + read bean sweetness & a walnut for crunch. great thing too is it’s not too sweet
you can even get fancy box if you want to bring some to parties or as gifts (at a slightly higher price).
they have yummy tea & coffee selections albeit a small menu, i love eating these pastries with a nice unsweetened tea from them.

These mouth sized, bites of deliciousness are addictive. The little machine makes them in front of you and they are at their best when still warm. The whole walnut in the center is super high quality and the sweet red bean paste surrounding it inside the pastry complements it perfectly. They also sell (expensive) walnuts. It’s in the food court at Zion Market.

I and my girls were wandering around and found this small pastry shop. Kind staff offered us free samples and we got a small bag of cocohodos. It was pretty yummy, not too sweet, tasted fresh. I will definitely come back to try their other snacks.

Cute warm little pastries with a walnut and red bean filling that are not too sweet but fulfilled my dessert craving. This is one of the many places located inside Zion Market’s food court. We got one of the specials which was a coffee and 4 pastries for $ 3.50. It was tasty and the service was friendly. No complaints here!

My latest snack discovery is the Korean dessert pastry known as hodo kwaja — also known in their terms as «walnut pastry». It’s this small walnut-​shaped pastry with pancake batter on the outside, red beans on the inside along with one or two walnuts. It’s basically taiyaki with walnuts.
Another foodie tidbit about myself: I’m a HUGE sucker for any freshly-​made (or properly) warmed pastry that has the azuki filling just melt in your mouth, hence why I like a freshly-​made taiyaki (NOT the store-​bought ones). I also happen to be a huge fan of nuts, especially walnuts. Considering that these are a little less than the size of a mini-​cupcake and not too sweet, I actively restrain myself from eating more than 5 in a sitting.
The concept of cocohodo is quite simple. They are located inside the food court at Zion Market. Their menu options consist most entirely of hodo kwaja, some coffee options and as of this writing shaved ice. If this was a first time a customer was to go into a shop they can get a complimentary sample. Though I don’t think they sell these pastries individually as the smallest box you can get is a half dozen. They’re not too expensive as a small box of 15 hodo kwaja costs less than buying several pastries at next-​door neighbor Paris Baguette Café. They’re also not too sweet and go very well with coffee/​tea.
Should I be in the area this is definitely in the rotation for Asian pastries I can find around the Convoy/​Kearney Mesa neighborhood. These pastries are a good alternative for a less guilty pleasure eating accompaniment to milk tea or salted ice coffee.

Hubby and I bought a small bag and couldn’t be happier with the pastries. Brought memories of Korea in a little package! The snacks wet individually wrapped, warm, and delicious.

Totally a fan of their walnut pastries! It’s pretty cheap for what you get.
~$ 3 (small bag) for 9 bite sized walnut puffs. It comes with red bean filling and an actual walnut inside. They keep it warm so when you bite into it, it’s nice, soft and fluffy. It’s not too sweet and doesn’t taste artificial (being that it’s real red bean and all). I think it’s cheaper when you buy more as well.

Ordered Mochi which was so delish. Everyone who works there is so polite. The girl who took my order offered us free sample of the Walnut Pastry filled with sweet red bean Yummy! The week prior the boy at the counter was so polite and greets everyone with a kind smile. I did mention to him we will be back and was there 1 week later. What a treat for my mouth ;)

After shopping at the Zion Market, I decided to check out the new food court. COCOHODO stood out most because of the sweet workers who greeted me and offered me a FREE sample of the walnut pastry. ONE Bite, TWO Bite and it was gone! Inside were real half walnut mixed in with the red bean filling. A pastry I’ve never, rare of its kind. You MUST try it! I ended up buying a large bag to introduce them to family and friends. They Lved it!

What is Cocohodo you ask? It’s a teeny bite-​sized puff pastry baked in the likeness of a walnut and filled with red bean filling and a walnut. Not too sweet which is nice for those that don’t crave the typical sweetened to high heaven dessert. Each is individually wrapped and served warm (a must) in quantities from 6 individual pieces or more depending on your hunger scale.
Cocohodo is situated in Zion Market for those not in the know. They also serve mochi and boba drinks as well. Staff is friendly and efficient, so no complaints there. I’ll definitely be back to sample a few of their other menu items.

I love the mochi here! I was given a sample of their trademark walnut looking pastry puff with the red bean paste. Which is a nice little snack at a fair price. However, not being a red azuki bean fan… I wasn’t ready to jump up and down for joy over their treats.
Then I saw the mochi. And it was flavored! Some with red beans and some with a coconut filling. I ordered both. And can say that hell yeah, I am a fan of the mango flavored mochi with the coconut filling. The strawberry with coconut was pretty good too.
Friendly staff. Love that the have a frequent buyer card.

Great service. The girl was nice enough to give us a sample. We ordered the viet ice coffee w/​boba. Taste is bittersweet. They’re quick with the drinks… Except they put toooooooooooooooooooooo much ice. My whole cup was full of ice. Had to deduct a star from that cz I pretty much just paid for ice w/​boba and a shot of viet coffee haha

Never even heard of this place, but my girlfriend’s manager gifted her a box. Once I tried the walnut/​red bean pastry I was in love and had to come write a review on Unilocal.I’m writing this review strictly on the product, and unsure of the service, but I’ll definitely be by in person to pick up some more lol.
If you’re familiar with a Filipino pastry thing called hopia, it taste like mongo hopia. It also reminds me of those Korean red bean waffles. They’re addicting, go get some!

Curious, I paused in front of the store. The sweetest girl working the counter offered me a sample when I told her I’d never had one before. She gave me a whole «cookie» from the warming bin. Hand wrapped in paper, it looked like a warm walnut. But no! It’s the texture of cake with the flavor of a cookie. Inside it’s filled with a bean paste and a single walnut. Not too sweet, perfectly moist. Heaven.

Not only is the product delish, I love how the counter staff acts like you’re a friend, and she’s sharing something she likes with you.

Wow, I was curious by their store that only sells these bite-​sized evilness filled with red bean and walnuts in a walnut looking breading. The girls at the shop are so nice and with me in a rush trying to get a gift box of 12, she assured me if it’s just around family and stuff, to get the bag of 15 for the same price. Super friendly customer service.
And even with the small bag of 9 for about 3 bucks is a steal. If you’re Filipino, if you remember the sesame ball with the red bean, it’s exactly like that with walnuts included. It got my mom’s approval and she’s picky as heck!
Oh and the ladies said it’s good for 3 – 4 days at room temperature! This is located in the food court section of Zion market next to Kearny Bowl

Just tried one bite of a sample and I was hooked… I had to go back for more… who knew walnut pastries could taste so good… and that the red bean paste inside could make them even better! They are so tasty fresh baked and hot from the oven… and the snack bag is so inexpensive! I’m a fan.

Only tried the walnut pastries so this review is for those. They only come in red bean flavor and these little things are quite amazing.
I got a small snack bag of 9 for $ 3.15. Honestly… that is a fricken steal! These little pastries sport the size and look of a real walnut, they are filled with red bean and in the center is an actual edible walnut heart. How cute is that?
Around 3 of these guys for $ 1 too? Super cheap considering how much detail went into making them. I am definitely a fan :)

Tasty korean walnut cakes! Cocohodo finally comes to San Diego!
They sell only one thing, hodo kwaja. This is a korean walnut cake that consists of an outer layer of cake with red bean filling and walnuts inside. It is normally sold as a street snack in Korea.
They taste especially good warm out of the oven. The filling is not too sweet and cake is moist with crunchy walnuts on the inside. Each cake comes individually wrapped and boxes are nicely decorated and presentable that they can be given as gifts. The cost is around $ 3.15 for a small bag of 9 pieces, or 15 pieces for $ 5.25. They also come in larger box sets.
The shop is located inside the food court of Zion market. Cocohodo appears to be the #1 purveyor of walnut cakes, a Korean chain with several US locations in LA, Torrance, Rowland Heights and Irvine.
Considering the caloric content of the filling I shouldn’t be eating too many of these. I’ll be back later… for more… Worth a try if you’re in the Zion Market food court.
