I have always seen this place driving through Mira Mesa but never came in. I guess in other parts of the country one has to specifically go to a liquor store to get alcohol. That’s obviously not the case here in California. You can get it at any grocery store and there are the big stores that have it like BevMo and Costco. So where does that leave stores like this? Not in very good shape unfortunately. We would have bought something if they had the specific vodka brand we were looking for but that wasn’t the case. Bummer. The whole dusty shelves and dark liquor store feel doesn’t help either. Alas, unless you’re just walking by there’s not any real advantage I see to coming here.

I try to come here to purchase my alcoholic needs over the major chains because I like helping out small business owners. I end up finding that the prices are the same or even a little cheaper here, and if you add that there’s unlikely to be a wait or a parking lot and huge store you have to navigate through, stopping by here on the way to the party or even home is the best way to go. The gentleman behind the counter is always happy and quick with ringing you up. He gives you recommendations if you want, and is extremely helpful in helping you find what you’re looking for. Expansive hard liquor selection, as well as the little souvenir one shot options.

A little hidden away in a strip mall on the busy corner of Black Mountain Road and Mira Mesa Blvd. Your little basic liquor store selling mostly alcohol and you usual non-alcoholic items. They have a couple of shelfs for snack items and a small area for adult entertainment.

I live very close — makes it very convenient to run to when we are out of ice or more importantly adult beverages! They have everything that a convenient store would have and my only issue is that they are a little pricey. My fav part of this place is that they have an entire isle dedicated to all those alcohol gift sets, you know, the ones where a bottle comes with a flask, or two glasses or two shot glasses! I love to buy those for people as gifts and they always have a variety to choose from.

Oh Crown Liquor & Wine. You saved my day. When everyone else was closed for Christmas you made sure I didn’t have to face my relatives alone and sober. The owner here is so nice. My total came to a meager 21.82 and he only charged me for $ 20 when he saw I had to break a $ 20 to get the correct change. Minus one star because the credit card machine wasn’t working and I had to hit the ATM next door and incur a $ 3 fee.

While I was waiting for a friend of mine to show up for our dinner date, I decided to pass some time in here. While it’s your typical liquor store, the prices here are a bit more expensive than even at BevMo. Also, if you’re so inclined, this is one of the few liquor stores that sells, um, adult entertainment. Before, it would be in a curtained-off area, but not any more. Wonder why…

Im just Unilocaling everything now??? Came here just to get the Daily Racing Form. I guess this and only a handful of other places in SD sells the DRF. If you are 1) Filipino(or other) 2) Live in Manila Mesa 3) horse racing fan, you can get the DRF and study for the horse races here at The Crown Plaza Liquor. Other than that… yah they sell liquor, and the vietnamese guy behind the counter seems cool.

It’s 3pm, we’ve just finished eating Phở to cure a hangover… …then we head over to Crown Liquor & Wine for some more alcohol. Haha! The best part about this place is that they have Four Loko in Cranberry Lemonade flavor! It’s a beer/energy drink and we’ve tried all flavors, Cranberry Lemonade is the best! 12% alcohol! Gets the job DONE. And the owner is really nice. =)
