I love living at current! The staff is so friendly and helpful. It feels like I am living in a hotel! The gym is really nice and you can’t beat the location. I absolutely love living here! Minutes from great Italian restaurants and right next to the farmers market on Saturday mornings.

I lived at Current for over 5 years… moved out a while ago because I needed a two bedroom and none were available at the time. I miss the building and staff, it is a wonderful place. Well maintained and very comfortable. Great location too with quick freeway access.

I love living here. There should be a ten-​star option. The cleaning and maintenance staff make living here better than any building in San Diego. Antonio is available even on his days off if necessary. True professionals here. If you like to be well taken care of, come to Current. You’ll never want to leave.

My husband and I have happily resided at Current for past two years. This week, however, we had to move out due to a job relocation from San Diego to Silicon Valley. Although I am excited for my new adventure, I am sad that my time with Current has to come to an end. Our experience at this property has been nothing short of amazing. The staff led by the magnificent Ede is highly competent, professional and, as an added bonus, exceptionally nice. When an issue arises (and inevitably they will from time to time), the staff will make it their personal mission to fix it quickly and painlessly. Jose, Kayla, Andrew, Rosa… they are all very warm and friendly. Quite honestly, they are like family. It was hard saying goodbye to the team. So why choose Current? Aside from its fantastic location (nestled in the heart of Little Italy), Current is pure luxury, and this is from someone who is fast friends with luxury. :) The apartments are spacious, beautifully finished and very well maintained. Maintenance is incredibly fast in responding to repair requests, and no repair is too small including light bulb changes. Wow! Furthermore, the common areas are always clean and inviting. The gym is never crowded and always fresh. The rooftop pool is a spectacular amenity that is rare to find among downtown apartment communities, or any apartment communities for that matter. I cannot think of a single drawback to this property. You will rent at Current based on the location, accommodations and amenities, but you will renew at Current because of the exemplary staff and pleasing environment.

Antonio, the lead maintenance guy, has been so quick to respond when I have minor service requests. I love living at Current!

I would like to commend Current on its staff. From the leasing office to the front desk to maintenance and to the cleaning staff. Truly excellent. For now I wish to particularly note what an incredible job Antonio is doing. He was always good. But with Marcos departing and no one yet hired to assist, Antonio has not only stepped up as the building’s lead maintenance man, he also is somehow managing to do what two previously did. He remains totally responsive, highly skilled, with a pleasant friendly disposition — no matter how many times I ask him for some assistance.

I submitted a service request and within 24 hours the request was completed! The technician was polite and courteous while completing the job in short time!

I recently moved into this building and have nothing but praise for it and the personnel who run it. The office staff is responsive, handles all requests quickly and efficiently, and always with a smile.
The building is well maintained, with great facilities, including a workout room, pool, business center as well as a party room and movie theater. The location is fabulous, just a short walk to all the restaurants in Little Italy. The streets around the building are quiet, clean and tree lined.
Most of all, what makes this building great are the competent and responsive staff. Before renting here, I looked at several buildings and got the distinct feeling that many were not well managed. If you want to live in a great building, with great facilities and an equally exceptional staff, this is the place for you.

My boyfriend and I have been living at Current for a little over 5 months now, and we LOVE it (especially the gym)! I’m writing this review specifically to Thank Jose who works as a leasing consultant. Jose’s professionalism is second to none. He truly connects with the residents and provides a friendly and supportive experience.
Current is truly the best downtown living experience. Thank you Jose for making our experience that much more enjoyable. Your the best!

My family has been at Current for the last year and a half and we continue to be impressed and grateful for the care and attention given to us by the staff. All maintenance requests are handled in a timely and professional fashion and Marcos goes above and beyond to leave everything much better than he found it. There are plenty of buildings one can choose to live in around the Little Italy area and we have friends in lots of those and they all envy the atmosphere of community that Ede, Kayla and the rest of the Current team work diligently to build and maintain. If you’re looking for a lovely place to call home with people who care, this is the place!

I have lived at the Current for almost two years now and I continue to like it more and more. The location is Perfect; its an easy walk to the main strip of Little Italy, a mile walk down to the Gaslamp district (if you feel up for an evening out), step out the door into one of the best Farmers Market (in town) on Saturdays and lastly you are right off the freeway! The building is always kept clean; very model décor style. The amenities are great: rooftop pool with a breathe taking view of the bay; 24-​hr gym, a movie theatre, coffee machine (24hrs). The staff, maintenance, residents, and the social events are fantastic; living here feels like one big family. :-)
Ede; the manager does a great job keeping things in order and has always been very helpful. Kayla; my favorite concierge a super friendly and always attentive person. Current is a lifestyle you want to be a part of!!!

Update: I wanted to say how much I value the services of Marcos from maintenance.
He’s extremely organized, helpful and always ensures I’m happy with his service.
It’s refreshing in this day and age that not only can I get a fast response but an employee that values the residents and does excellent work.
And the job is done FAST!

I don’t know how anyone could write anything but a 5 star review for this property. The location, amenities, staff, social events, etc. are all fantastic. I have lived at current for 16 months now and have not heard one peep from a neighbor… which is the most important factor to me living in a large building. The places are not cheap but you get what you pay for… stainless steel appliances, wood floors, granite counter tops, coffee machine in the lobby, bikes to borrow, etc. I have loved living here and think the staff from maintenance to the management staff are all top notch. Thanks for reading.

THEY ARE WILLING TO SAY ANYTHING TO GET A SALE (even to military)
First, we were unable to see the two bedroom after I scheduled an appointment in advance. Due to that and my short visit from the Midwest (time was of the essence to find a place), we were shown a one bedroom with a balcony which we were told had a very similar floor plan as the two bedroom; we were informed of a few minor differences like the kitchen layout and a longer hallway. Not being in the real estate business, I assumed (how dumb of me) the balcony is part of the floor plan. While signing the application from Chicago, I asked for a floor plan so I could measure furniture and was told it doesn’t have a balcony. Kind of a big thing to leave out when reviewing the differences between the two spaces, right? Since that was a selling point for me, that was a sneaky omission.
A second example is the military clause. While going through each line item of the lease in detail with the staff member in the leasing office, we reviewed the military clause which allows those in the military with new orders to break a lease and pay through the following month (which I am fine with). The leasing agent told us it didn’t really matter — that the building loves working with the military and they really only need 30 days notice regardless of what the lease read. We believed the sales agent since it’s a common practice in our experience, especially in a large military city like San Diego. Well, my husband received unexpected orders a few days after our wedding. We notified the building on March 5 as soon as we received word. The building told us since we told them after March 1 we had to pay through April 31 even though our departure is in early or mid April. We are loosing $ 1500+ due to this. I respect leases and agreements, but to say something and then do something completely opposite is unethical and a slap in the face. So much for liking to work with the military.
They are more concerned with a sale and obviously willing to say anything to close. Beware, and unfortunately do not take them on their word. It’s a trap.
TENANT COMMUNICATION
We were given less than one week’s notice about a major construction project taking place for 3 MONTHS that required the rooftop area to shut down, construction noises galore and scaffolding with elevators of men and dusty materials going up and down outside our windows all day. I work from home and pay $ 100+ per day to live here. The staff can give a month’s notice about a wine and painting party, but not a construction project that shuts down a main amenity for a quarter of the year? In addition the Doubletree pool we are able to use is disgusting. Cigarette butts on the pool deck, uncomfortable furniture and parties being hosted around you while you are sitting outside — pathetic. I lived in a building three times the size of this in Chicago for three years and they finished a project of the same magnitude in one month and I was given four months notice.
They should focus on communicating about amenity disruption rather than social gatherings.
The only redeeming qualities about the personnel is that the concierges and facilities/​maintenance staff are great. They are kind, friendly, smile and are quick to respond to items needing fixing (when they can be fixed) and the shipping and pick up of packages. When we move I will miss them, but not the office staff.

When you walk into The Current it seems as if you could not have found a better property. Great location, beautiful apartments, and amenities a plenty. Of course you get what you pay for, but who cares as long as they deliver on their promise, WHICH THEY DO NOT.
BEWARE, you will be dealing with the most inconsiderate and rude corporate employees I have ever met. Since moving in there have been a barrage of things that have gone wrong within my unit, and at no point was I compensated in any way. Here is a list:
1) Water issue with the building plumbing caused us to not have a second bathroom for a month — building’s reaction: «you can use your other bathroom»
2) Building decides half way through our lease to demo and redo the pool/​lounge area causing all tenants to lose their outdoor space, jackhammering and construction noises from 8−5pm which makes it tough for those who work from home, and scaffolding which covers half our view. All this for three months. Buildings reaction: «Sorry»
3) It takes 3 – 5 minutes to get hot water to any of the faucets in our unit — buildings reaction: «that’s just how our plumbing is»
4) When we move in and walk around the apartment our feet are stained black from the slate tiling, strange because I have had slate before and this never happened. Buildings reaction: «wear shoes around your apartment»
Bottom line, DO NOT LIVE HERE. There are plenty of great places in Little Italy to live including the brand new Ariel apartments just down the street, which are cheaper and do not have such a terrible staff. I am happy to answer any additional questions if interested.

This is what luxury means like that in Manhattan, NY or on Beverly Hills, LA. The price point of these apartments are comparable too, but if you can afford this type of living, then you really should.
The Concierge is top notch in helping you get what you need. There is a clean and well maintained rooftop pool and first floor gym. Beautifully stocked coffee awaits you in the lobby every morning. It is biking distance from all of Downtown San Diego. The neighborhood is gentrifying so quickly. In some ways it is good. The few half-​way houses down the street may move away or hopefully, improve so that the newly released prisoners can aspire for a stable life. There are less homeless people near the Current than just a few blocks away. It is a quick run or bike over to Balboa Park too.

I’ve lived at Current for 8 months, and really enjoy living here. The entire staff is extremely helpful. The leasing office provides quick responses to questions, and the maintenance crew fixes any problem with the apartment within a day.
The rooftop pool is amazing. There is a beautiful view of Little Italy, as well as the bay. I never get sick of sitting at the pool and enjoying life. Also, Little Italy is a great area to live. Airplane noise is minimal, train noise is minimal, and restaurants are excellent. The farmers’ market on Saturdays (Mercato) is only a two minute walk from Current, and is always fun to go to with guests.
The fitness certain has also been very useful. There are plenty of eliptical machines, treadmills, and weights available, and the gym is never crowded. A projector-​style movie theater is available to rent for 4 hours at a time. Food and drinks are allowed in the theater, which is great if you want to watch a game.
Overall, Current is an excellent place to live. The apartments, amenities, location and staff are all top notch. I couldn’t ask for a better apartment complex.

From the moment I walked in to Current, I knew it was the place for me! The staff is wonderful — from the leasing office to the concierge desk, everyone is friendly and helpful no matter what the request is.
The amenities are what really make this building stand out from others. The roof top pool is beautiful and the theater is a luxury that most buildings do not offer. The coffee bar and gym are both really convenient to have in the building.
The location is excellent as well. It is a block from the Saturday Farmer’s Market and about 4 blocks from several amazing restaurants. I enjoy walking the neighborhood, and heading down to the harbor is one of my favorite destinations.
If you are looking for a luxury building with a friendly staff, Current is your place!

My boyfriend & I just moved to Current a few months ago and love it! We looked all over downtown and Little Italy for a place that was affordable and had all the amenities we were looking for. They have a great gym and even free Starbucks coffee downstairs for their tenants. They have a pool on the rooftop with nice lounge chairs and the view is amazing. You can see all of downtown and the view of the water. We have lived at a couple places downtown and have to say Current is one of our favorites.
I love our apartment! Hardwood floors, pumpkin spice walls, a built in wine rack, lots of storage space, granite, tile, a huge beautiful bathroom and walk in closet!

The staff here is also really nice. Heather and Ede were very helpful and accommodating during the application process and viewing of the apartments. Sunny is one of their security guards on staff and he is one of our favorites. Always so kind and helpful.
If your looking for a place to live that’s nice, with a great staff and walking distance to Little Italy you should come check out Current you wont be disappointed.

My wife and I love Current. From the day we moved in, we felt like this was home. From the friendly concierge or the leasing staff, or the maintenance folks, this is the most ‘can-​do’ employee staff that I’ve ever been around.
The staff also host monthly fun parties either in the downstairs party room or on the 11^th floor pool deck. We’ve even had a Film Festival in our screening room! My guests love to use the work out room, which is filled with so many great machines to burn off that gelato from the night before.
We have a 10^th floor unit with a fantastic view. Friends come over and marvel at the 270 degree view. I never have to worry about anyone coming over, because I can put names and faces into our system, so that the Concierge can let it guests, just by looking on their computer.
I haven’t written one lease check, because it’s all done automatically, online. What a system; even an internal chat function that most of us participate in.
As a coffee lover, we use the lobby coffee machine for Starbucks coffee every morning; that has saved us a lot of $$$. We also go to the Little Italy Mercato each Saturday — only one block away. Just walk to a ton of great restaurants in just a few minutes.
I highly recommend a life in Current. Lease here and you won’t regret it!
