Most of us loose motivation within the first 30 days of setting a goal. Part of it has to do with the obstacles we encounter. These obstacles cause us to question how deeply we want to attain our goal. An easy way to help ensure our dreams stay bigger than our obstacles is to create a vision board. A vision board or dream board helps us keep a physical picture of our desires easily accessible.
The party:
A couple weeks into January, I had the pleasure of attending my first «Vision Board Party» hosted by Keri Dawkins of Elegant Expressions. The venue was Wine Steals a quaint wine bar in Hillcrest area equip with live music, local art, and informative staff. I found it on Meet Up, within the group San Diego Black Professionals.
I had no idea what to expect, nestled in a semi-​private room myself and about 30 other folks.
After we finished our vision boards, we traveled from table to table presenting our goals to others. This was the part of the event that took my goals to the next level. I was able to get valuable feedback from like minded people. People who also want to reach their new high water mark in life. This helped embed the affirmations we had promised to gift ourselves with in the upcoming year.
Keri announced that she was planning on hosting monthly events of the same genre and on a quarterly basis we would revisit the Vision Board experience to help encourage each other to keep pushing!
