First Saturday Swing offers beginner and intermediate drop-​in swing dance lessons and social dancing. We have more than three hours of both DJ and live music, ranging from 1920s-​1950s era big band music. We dance lindy hop, balboa, shag, jazz, and other African American vernacular dance movements. For those who dance blues and fusion, we offer a separate room for slow and groovy nights, simultaneously. For parents with children, we offer a complimentary family room with a dedicated baby sitter so you guys can learn and dance without worry.

History

Established in 2012.

First Saturday Swing is the portal and central hub for swing dancing in San Diego. Occurring once a month, it has been attracting new and returning dancers from all walks of life. Our goal is to bring the swing dance community together through First Saturday Swing, to know that they are part of our home no matter where they come from.

Gordon is one of three organizers and promoters of First Saturday Swing. He has been a part of the swing dance community since 2010 in San Francisco. In 2014, he moved to San Diego, where he immediately befriend the other promoters of First Saturday Swing. What started off as a volunteer position within the organization quickly rose to other positions, eventually becoming the lead volunteer coordinator for multiple events. In mid 2015, he become the third partner of First Saturday Swing. He is also the administrator and moderator of the First Saturday Swing website.
