I hired Flamingo Tile Company to replace the tile at my inside entry, fireplace and outside front patio. I couldn’t be more pleased with the end result. AJ is a pleasure to work with and all of her crew members are so nice and helpful. A truly thoughtful and professional group of people to have doing work at my house. The quality is great, I found the cost to be reasonable and the completed job is exactly what I wanted! Happy customer!

Missed a first appointment was late to the second then I never got a quote or any follow up contact… now I’m looking for another company.

AJ and Flamingo are great. They work hard; they show up when they say they will; they know what they’re talking about. Their prices are reasonable. I’d hire them every day and twice on Tuesdays.

I got several bids for the two bathrooms I was redoing. AJ Flamingo was not the cheapest but I certainly got what I paid for! First off, AJ and her entire crew were so professional and did an excellent job, not to mention clean, considerate and really nice people! Erik did a fabulous job! My master bath is off the hook! Everyone who sees it wants their name. I can’t say enough about them, AJ, Chris, Brent and Erik not only know what the are doing, but love what they do as well! Thank you team Flamingo

I can’t say enough positive things about this company! I’d have AJ, and specifically Mikey come back and do tile work ANYTIME!!! This was my first experience with a contractor in my house where I go back to look at the work days later and I’m still impressed with what a great job Mikey did.
The guys were very clean, prompt and professional. They showed up when they said they were going to and took meticulous efforts to ensure that they left my home better than it was when they arrived.
I will be sure to mention them to anyone I know that is need of beautifully laid tile as well as have them come back if I even need any more work done.

Hired Flamingo after getting several estimates to tile an outdoor patio. They were not the cheapest, but sometimes you get what you pay for-​and the price was fair. AJ consistently and promptly returned calls & emails and her crew was always prompt & professional.
They did a terrific job & consulted me with details/​questions regarding placement, color, etc. to make sure I was satisfied with the final product. We are thrilled with the patio-​and our experience with Flamingo. Thanks to all involved!

I couldn’t be happier with the work they did.
I had them replicate a coastal reef stone wall I saw in one of the model homes. They actually did a much better job than the one in the model home.
The entire team was very easy to work with. AJ was very professional, always answered my calls and emails right away, and answered all my questions. Beto and Ernesto, the installers, were very skilled, friendly and made everything for me to be happy with the work they were doing.
They worked around my schedule. Picked up the stones at the store, and even when we ran out of stone throughout the project, they went on the same day, to the store to pick up more stones in order to finish the job on schedule.
They even came back after a month to drill holes on the wall so I could hang a mirror.
I highly recommend them.

AJ’s team tiled my master bathroom and did a wonderful job! After reading several reviews on Unilocal,I decided to give them a shot. They were professional, timely, and very reasonable with the pricing. No sales pitch, just an honest quote and great work. I highly recommend this company.

The job that I hired Flamingo to do is now complete. Looking back on this experience I can say that AJ is the best contractor that I have hired. I only wish that she was a general contractor and could do other side jobs.
Anyway, I was really happy with AJ. She really seems to care about her customers and employees and it shows. Sergio was the superstar on the first day. He worked hard, was very pleasant to communicate with and was very respectful. Brent was also a favorite of mine. In observing him working on this project I found him to be very detail oriented, cautious, hard working and also very respectful. Brent is young and a «helper» or apprentice I believe but I would not hesitate to have him back on another project and I would trust him with very expensive tile.
Overall communication went very well. Flamingo is not the type of company that shows up for an estimate acting like they have a legit business and then sends out Home Depot type day laborers who don’t speak English. I have had many of those business dealings in the past. I am not racist and I don’t mind hiring day laborers but I don’t like paying high end contractors who exploit and subcontract out to undocumented workers. What you see is what you get when you work with Flamingo, my experience wasn’t bait and switch.
I read a recent Unilocal review saying that Erik urinated in bottles and left them on the job. I obviously wasn’t there but Erik did work at my house a number of days and he was never unhygenic, disrespectful or vulgar so it is hard for me to believe that part of the review. I’m really hoping that customer didn’t open up and smell the contents of the bottle.
I will post an updated picture but keep in mind I am in the middle of a major home renovation so walls and cabinets are not in great shape.
I look forward to hiring Flamingo Tile Company back to do more work on my house as soon as I can budget it in and I would highly recommend them to family and friends.

Run, don’t walk away from this company. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY.
While my initial contact with the owner AJ left me very excited and eager to have this project completed, the workmanship by her tile setter, Erik, made me regret having chosen her company to perform the work. Dealing with Erik was a constant struggle and Flamingo Tile did not complete the job they started. For simplicity sake I will bullet point the issues I had with this company:
1. Erik made numerous errors when installing the tile. When I pointed out the errors I was told I was too picky. I would expect a professional company to first of all not make the errors but if errors were made I would expect them to fix them not tell the person paying them that they were wrong and too picky.
2. I gave simple instructions to place a hand painted Spanish tile I had purchased centered on the wall. Imagine my surprise when I walked in and noticed the tile was not centered. When I pointed this out to Erik he replied by saying that it was centered. So I asked him to take out his measuring tape and show me. Guess, what? It wasn’t centered. When I expressed my concern to AJ I was told it was close enough. Needless to say I had to have Erik remove the tile and had to change my design for fear that he would mess it up yet again.
3. I asked that the decorative band of hand painted tiles be spaced evenly and centered across the width of the shower. Measuring is apparently beyond the scope of Erik’s skill level because it took about 3 different times for him to get it close to centered (in the process braking numerous expensive hand painted tiles) and it is still off by 3 inches!
3. Erik broke nearly half of my hand painted tiles. I had to pay to replace them.
4. Even though the tiles came on a net backing for easy installation the tiles are uneven and the spacing between the tiles varies drastically throughout the shower.
5. Erik destroyed the glaze on many of tiles when he cut them yet he installed them anyway leaving jagged edges framing my shampoo niche.
6. Erik etched pencil marks so hard in to the tile, they couldn’t be removed. So now my shower has his hand writing all over it. I had two different other companies try to remove the pencil marks to no avail. I have also tried numerous different remedies that have not worked. To this day I have black pencil marks all over my shower. The only way to remove them is to remove the tiles which will cost quite a bit of money.
7. Erik left bottles of human piss in my house! I offered the bathroom of my upstairs apartment but apparently Erik preferred to pee in water bottles and leave them for me to clean up after he walked away from my job.
8. After I had paid AJ for over half of the job total she pulled Erik off of the job and told me they wouldn’t complete it, when they weren’t even half way finished. Obviously I’m not going to force someone who keeps messing up to finish my tile project so I agreed but it was incredibly unprofessional.
In summary…
I was left with numerous broken very expensive hand painted tiles (tiles that didn’t need to be cut and should have never been broken).
I had to change what was a beautiful and relatively simple design to compensate for Erik’s subpar skill level and inability to measure anything.
I still have pencil marks etched in to the tile in my bathroom shower! All over my shower.
I had to dispose of bottles of human urine.
AJ and Erik were so unprofessional; they didn’t even finish the job.
Hiring this company was the worst decision I made when it came to the remodel of my house.

Flamingo is an up-​and-​coming business, with AJ as the owner/​operator. She has a crew of about a half dozen or so doing most of the installing. The shining star is Erick. He’s respectful, knowledgeable about product and installation, and the most experienced. If you can get him out to your job site, you’ll be happy.
I hired Flamingo to do a backsplash in my kitchen. As other Unilocalers have noted, tile installation isn’t done in one day. There’s demo, then prep, then installation, then grout, then sealant. Most of those steps require time to dry or set before the next step, so don’t be alarmed if Flamingo makes numerous trips to your project for just a few hours each visit. I’m happy with the finished product, but I was a little nervous during the process.
I think four stars is probably more deserving than three, but «A-​OK» fits better than «Yay! I’m a fan.» The reason for this is due to my perception of their inexperience. With the exception of Erick, most people at Flamingo don’t appear to be at the Journeymen level. With five more years of full-​time jobs, I’ll bet Flamingo could be a San Diego Best of.

I hired AJ and Chris to install my glass tile backsplash in my kitchen and they did such a great job! They were so friendly and so easy to work with and they offered a ton of great advice regarding details like grout color and edging. The final product came out looking great and I am so happy with the work they did! I would use them again in a heartbeat!!!

I am a first time home owner, and have been making upgrades to my new home. I was upgrading my bathroom when the General Contractor I originally hired took my money and ran. As a Retired Marine and Combat Veteran I would’ve expected better from the man I hired. It was unfortunate to see that General Contractor conducting his business in that manner. Fortunately for me I learned the value of Unilocal and found all of the great reviews on AJ and her company.
I explained my situation to her, and she was able to fit me into her schedule right away. She came to my home, assessed the situation with the tile repair that I needed from the lack of professionalism of my previous contractor, and got on the job right away. She even provided me all the necessary documentation my bank requested so I could file a dispute claim against my previous contractor, in order to get some of my money back from him.
Extremely considerate, and a consummate professional, AJ and Flamingo Tile Company are the way to go for any of your tile needs!

ASK for Eric!
He was courteous, respectful, prompt and very knowledgeable. He made several suggestions along the way that ended up absolutely beautiful!
He kept me informed, let me know if there were any issues before hand and took the time to offer solutions. I had the same tile from lowes, didn’t realize it was from two different manufacturers and Eric noticed they aren’t the same size, off by just a bit but enough to make the grout lines not perfectly match! !!! Aaaah!
He called me over, explained the situation and came up with an awesome idea to remedy.. a transition piece (picture below)
We weren’t sure if the tile from 2^nd manufacturer was enough to cover the project, but he made it work! Even if it wasnt enough i was confident he’d find a solution to make the other tile tie in seamlessly.
Finding someone you can trust, who knows what he’s doing, is creative enough and experienced enough and makes awesome suggestions that beautifies the job so much more.. is definetly hard to come by.

Great job by AJ. I am very happy and the kitchen tile backsplash came out exactly as I wanted it. Very fair pricing and no delays or issues. She finished even earlier than expected. I highly recommend her.

Flamingo recently installed the backsplash tile in our kitchen and bathroom. It looks fantastic! They have fair pricing and are super easy to work with. AJ communicated clearly throughout the process and even texted with updates throughout the day. They got the job done on-​time and cleaned up after themselves. All in all, we are happy customers and will use them again should we do any other tile work in the future.
(Side note: Not that it matters, but I was pleasantly surprised that AJ and her crew were women! After hiring several contractors for our remodel, all of whom were men, I was super happy to have employed a quality, woman-​owned business.)

Loved the way my kitchen and bathroom turned out. The kitchen tile came out spot on as what I envisioned for my kitchen. I wanted it to be done as soon as possible and AJ was able to accommodate that as best she could considering how busy they were. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. You can tell by the photos how awesome their work is.

AJ & Chris worked on my kitchen backsplash. I communicated with AJ via text for a couple weeks and we scheduled everything that way. That’s how I like to communicate but you can call her too.
On a Saturday morning they both came in, cut and placed the stone fairly quickly. They are extremely professional, clean, curteous and very conscience of their work space.
On Sunday AJ came by and grouted the tile quickly and that was the icing on the cake. It looked great!
Its been a few days now and it has dried. I’ve been able to wipe it clean and seal the natural stone and place my outlet covers back on. I’ve submitted before and after pics. Mine is the kitchen with the green granite, natural 2×3 stones, brown cabinets and a lil chalk board that says, «Thanks Flamingo Tile!»

After calling several contractors about installing a back splash in my small kitchen, I found the quotes to be fairly outrageous and ended up putting the project off for almost a year after finishing the rest of my condo remodel. Lucky for me, AJ moved to SD and I found Flamingo Tile Company here on Unilocal!
I emailed AJ requesting a quote and she got back to me the same day and scheduled a time to come out that week and provide an estimate. She quoted me exactly what I hoped to pay for the job (and what I thought was fair) and a few days later she came for the install. The tin back splash was installed in 3 hours and looked great. I finished up that night with a few coats of paint and poly seal, and voila, my kitchen looks completely updated and bright.
Finding a reasonably priced, prompt, responsive contractor of any kind in San Diego is not an easy task, but AJ fits the bill plus some. Definitely don’t think twice about calling her for a consult. My only regret is that I didn’t have her do this project sooner. She’s actually coming out this week to install some shelving in the kitchen and had some great ideas on how to make it look like a built in shelving unit.
