I cannot say enough nice things about JK Computer Services! My elderly father had used JK in the past and when I needed to have his computer wiped of personal data and recycled, JK very kindly did it for no charge and said that they would donate the computer and peripherals to a school. The man who helped me (and I wish I could remember his name) was so friendly and helpful. The shop itself is the cleanest and most well-​organized I have ever seen. Highly recommend for anyone in the area who needs help with their equipment.

I’m so happy I took my computer here. Very kind, knowledgable staff. They told me the problem on Friday (somehow my computer data was deleted). I picked up my totally restored computer today, Monday, they applied the discount from Unilocal and it cost me half of what I was expecting. My Husband passed away last July 4, and I was really hoping they could at least restore my pictures. They said they would try but no promises. They did it!!! Thank you so much Carl and staff!!!

I’ve been coming here for years, something like 6 or 7 years. I first came here with my father, Harold with our classic EMachines desktop. So many years later he still provides the best service and does the best job possible. Don’t waste your time with other supposed professionals, don’t even consider Geeksquad. I now have a nice little Asus ROG G73JH and he services it exclusively. I’ve referred even my aunt here, he’s the best!

I’m a small business owner who lives in University City. Yesterday I was on my computer and it crapped out on me. As you can imagine my heart dropped to the floor thinking I may of lost everything.
I decided to call JK Computers to just to ask a question and explain to the tech what had happened. I wished I would of asked for his name but I was so overwhelmed with his kindness and professionalism and couldn’t wait to try what he had suggested to see if it worked or not. All I could think of was losing my files or having to buy a new computer.
But BINGO! It worked and everything is fine now. Merry Xmas to me and to the tech and to JK Computers for having a staff that believes in real customer service.

They fixed what I thought was a broken key on my keyboard and didn’t even charge me for it. Great service! I would not hesitate to go there next time I need computer support.

Rude customer service over the phone. Guy on the phone gave me a low estimate for my needs but just because he was rude I didn’t even want to pursue.

Short version: took too long and did not effectively communicate with the costumer (possibly did not communicate well with other employees). Many people seem to like it here but I cannot and will not recommend this place.

As an establishment that has nearly 5 stars, I had very high expectations. Maybe too high. Honestly, the initial interaction was very pleasant and super straight forward. The establishment said they would call the next day letting me know what was wrong with my laptop. Straight to the point. I liked it.
They didn’t call back so I called and they told me my laptop was in worse condition than thought and they needed my permission to buy a new motherboard. Although that sucked, there wasn’t really anything I could do, and they were very understanding. They said it would be 3 days.
3 days later, they hadn’t called back, so I called them instead. They told me that they didn’t get my okay to order the part. That’s silly because I very much did, but they seemed confident I didn’t. So I okay’d it once more and they said, again, 3 days.
3 days pass and again they didn’t call me. So I call them again and ask about the part. They tell me they just ordered it a few days ago so I needed to wait. They also told me, and I quote, «I don’t want you to call again, so we’ll tell you when the part is here.»

Now I’m sure they meant that they didn’t want me to expend additional energy or that they didn’t want to trouble me by calling so much, but instead, it came off as a very rude comment. Also that’s dumb anyway. This is my laptop, and I’m just curious about the progress because they keep insisting the 3 days when by now it’s been a week.
So okay, I’ll listen, I’ll just wait until the end of the week and see where this goes. I call again like 4 days later but the guy who picks up didn’t seem to know anything about my computer’s situation. He said something along the lines of «well Im not too sure of the status of your computer. Usually there’s more notes here. Seems like the notes that are here say you need a new mother board? I’m not really sure if that’s the case but…» WHAT? We already discussed this like a week ago! I already said yes to the new motherboard TWICE! What do you mean it «seems like» I need a new one??? Siigh. He also mentioned that if they did order it and it was passed the 3 days, the amount of time I needed to wait was unknown. «it could be few more days or weeks.» :/​I guess they had the decency to be vague this time??? But once again I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt.
3 or so days later I actually go into the shop. I ask about my computer. Turns out they received the wrong mother board and needed to return it and order the correct one.

Jesus Christ it’s been 2 weeks. And you’re telling me you guys got the wrong part? I mean I get it, it’s out of your control but wow, of all times to mess up it was now :/​They promised they would get the new mother board the next day. Due to my own scheduling issues, I came back the next week.
It’s been 3 weeks since my first walk in. I go inside to see my computer, and they still didn’t have my mother board. That was it. I asked for my laptop back and left.
It really isn’t the time that bothered me. (Although it was a big issue. I had MANY club and school responsibilities that I simply couldn’t do because my laptop was in the shop). It was the promise of a relatively short repair that became a 3 week headache. Other people seem to like this place but as for me, i simply can’t recommend it. I know shipping is a pain but now I’m 3 weeks behind updating important data for my club and school work had been hell without my hard drive. It all may have been unfortunate circumstances but it still means I will not be returning here.

These guys go above and beyond and are priced well. If you are getting any kind of custom work done on a computer or building one from scratch they are about as knowledgeable as anyone you can find in the area.

I’m a software developer and I often tinker with hardware as well. This particular time, I did more damage than I intended when I was trying to switch the monitor from one laptop to another, identical laptop. I called the store on Governor, explained the situation and I was given a price estimate of $ 50 to make the switch.
As soon as I got to the store, the technician got to work fixing my botched job and had it completed in about 30 minutes, when Best Buy was stating a 2-​day turnaround.
Since I was actually contemplating buying yet another laptop, the $ 50 charge to make the repairs was more than a bargain and I got very good service to go along with my original laptops, now working again !
I highly recommend the service.

The monitor on my Dell All-​In-​One went black and unresponsive in the middle of my work. I didn’t have time for any security measures like logging-​out of my accounts and clearing my history before the integrated screen blacked out. Another repair shop, where I first I hauled my broken PC, charged $ 89 for diagnosis, said it would be 3 – 5 days, asked for my password, didn’t have space to accept my spare monitor (that could be a fallback fix), and wanted me to waive them from any responsibility for further damage to my computer. Not good.
I’m happy that I decided to take my PC (and spare monitor) to JK Computer Services because Karl turned out to be completely honest, efficient, and reliable. The diagnosis fee was a very reasonable $ 50. Karl listened attentively to my description of what happened and measures I had already tried. He ended up fixing my unit within hours. He stopped at the screen asking for my password (without compromising the privacy of my personal computing) and made sure it successfully rebooted several times. I wouldn’t have known otherwise if he had claimed parts, more money, and time would be required to fix what turned out to be a disconnected LCD back-​light inverter cable. What a relief to receive quick, competent service, an inexpensive charge, and have my PC functioning earlier than expected! Plus, I have peace-​of-​mind knowing of a reputable place if I have another computer crisis.

Couldn’t be happier! I knocked over my Samsung laptop one day and broke the screen. Called these guys up and they took care of it like champs. Great price and quality service! Definitely going to recommend.

Very knowledgeable staff and extremely nice. Came in for some issues regarding my antenna on my Wi-​Fi booster and they were able to help out! Wasn’t expecting much from this store but since I was already at Vons (next door), I figured it was worth a try. Happy I stopped by and will visit them again next time I have computer related problems.

I had «goblins» in my iMac desktop and sought help from JK Computer Services. Karl made a «house call» and called me when he was running late and would not arrive at the scheduled time. He arrived soon thereafter.
Karl quickly diagnosed my problem as malware. He professionally and promptly cleansed my computer and double-​checked it operation. Yes, it was all cleaned up. He also answered questions that I had about the operation of my Apple Mail.
I give JK Computer Services the highest marks. They are knowledgeable, reliable, polite and have very reasonable pricing.

These guys are a rip off. I went in there to find out what it costs to repair the battery port connection on my laptop cuz my laptop wasn’t getting a charge anymore. Right off the bat he was like «oooo we have to remove all these things and blah blah blah. It’s gonna cost 150−200». I went to a computer place in Kearny Mesa off convoy and they charged $ 49 plus 10 for part. No brainer

I rely on my computer, probably too much, but when it isn’t up and working, neither am I. I have my bases covered at home, but I was traveling for work and needed someone pronto. I looked on Unilocal and there were many recommendations for this computer repair place a block from the hotel. Perfect! I walked my computer down and they immediately recognized my distressed expression and checked me in. The tech come up in 15 minute cycles to update me, he seemed to know what he was doing. I was back in my room within an hour and working. This computer repair place saved my presentation (and job!). Well done!

A couple of days ago my computer was suffering from some issues. They let me know that I had gotten some pretty common malware and helped me remove it. They gave me some pretty good pointers on how to prevent it in the future also. They assured me I should scan a lot of my files before opening them. They fixed my computer promptly, I think I only waited about 2 hours for them to be finished.

Wonderful experience getting my laptop screen replaced. I ordered my own screen to save some money and they replaced my old broken screen in under an hour. Plus, they even cleaned by keyboard for free, which I thought was really nice.
Karl and Dave were extremely friendly and even gave me a discount since I’m a college student. I highly recommend this place!

JK computers is amazing!
I took my HP laptop to them after going to 2 other computer repair places and having a tech from a website come out to my apt to look at it. I brought it into this place and they were very helpful, looked at my computer for 10 minutes and fixed it. AND they didnt charge me anything. I highly recommend them!

2010: I have one of the original Playstation 3s that came with a measly 20GB harddrive and no wireless. I bought a 320GB hard (overkill by the way) at Frys to replace the factory 20GB. Lacking manskills, I bamboozzled the process of removing the HD from the holding bracket. Dave helped me detach it for FREE! I bought him a 6-​pack of Corona, one of his favorite beers. He also likes Pacifico.
2011: Added a blu-​ray burner into my tower for $ 35 labor. Haven’t had any problems since.
Dec 19, 2012: My computer, bought it in 2009, was in an endless cycle of shutting down and rebooting nonstop to the point where I couldn’t access anything on my computer and had to unplug it. Dave said it might simply be a hardware issue and vaccuum cleaned the inside of the dusty tower. He said to try it out and bring it back in if it still didn’t work. Again, NO CHARGE! Unfortunately, the free solution didn’t work but had it worked I would’ve brought him another 6-​pack.
Dec 21, 2012: Minus $ 95 and minus 1000s of viruses removed later, my computer is working perfectly and faster. His best anti-​virus advice? Stay off internet! Maybe I should stop visiting websites of questionable moral nature… JK! ;-) His tip is not to click on anything on suspicious pop ups, not even the «Close» or the «X» because they could be fake buttons. Instead use «Control + Alt + Delete» and utilize the Task Manager to close down the pop up… great advice! :)
