I ran this race this year, had an amazing time! Was well organized and benefitted great organizations and causes. Course was through the college campus and a mix of flats and hills. Race was not expensive at all and the shirt you got was comfortable and great! They had a raffle at the end and had items donated and made. Some items donated were gift certificates to gatorzs sunglasses, road runner sports, and local businesses. I even won a pair of shoes from road runner! They had 2 quilts that had been made by mothers of Navy Seals. For 20 $ you got 25 tickets I believe or they were 1 $ for one. Their tad pole trot for the little ones was very cute and they had a race for each age category so the older children were in their own age groups and the 3−4yr olds had their own category. At the end they had some skydivers jump and float down with an American flag. Overall we had a great time and most def. will want to do the race again next year. GREAT race! Great raffle! Great kids race!

I had been going back and forth about signing up for this 5k since I first heard about it in May/June. It was a last minute decision, and I signed up 2 days before the race. The beneficiaries are the Navy Seals and Special Ops Warrior Foundation. This event is sponsored by the Veterans United Foundation, and they did a SUPERIOR job. Other sponsors include: Zico, NFCU, Shakespeare Pub, JFAT, etc. There’s a thing called the«Boot Campaign» where you can purchase the combat boots that the troops wear, and $ 25 of your purchase goes towards charity. A lot of the runners were wearing the boots, not just active military. I’ll definitely look into buying a pair, it would have been cool if they had a booth there too. The start and finish were in the same location, the course was relatively flat, but with some elevation pretty much an out and back course, around the perimeter of the SDSU and through SDSU. They had volunteers cheering for you throughout the course which is always a plus, water station around the 1.5 mile mark, people need to stop throwing cups on the ground, granted there weren’t many trashcans available, I held mine until I saw one. Haha It’s not just this race, but pretty much every race people just throw their cups on the ground. There weren’t too many people doing the race, so there was no bottlenecking. They had wristbands at the end, I guess you can consider that as your«medal.» Water, snacks, Zico coconut water, Naked juice, Honest/ade. They had a Navy table, got myself a water bottle, and a stress ball. The tadpole trot was cute, 3 – 4, 5 – 7, 8 – 10(but come on the 10 years old should be able to do the 5k) it was only 100 yards. There was a little boy ~3 who would go with every age group haha. They had ribbons for the kids, and medals for the top 3 finishers of each age group. Supposedly there were supposed to be U.S. Navy parachuters, but I didn’t see any. Weather permitting? i can look pass that since I had a good time. Of the 55ks I’ve done, I did my best in this one, I can only get better right? There goodie bag was a «virtual goodie bag» Shakespeare’s, and JFAT were offering 15−20% off if you went there wearing your shirt/bib. I will definitely look in to doing this run again next here, and possibly fundraising, which I initially wanted to do. You do have to pay for parking, $ 1/hour, unless you can find street parking. Oh yea, you had the option of having it timed or not… the timing chip was cool it was attached to the back of the bib instead having to attach something to your shoe… AND get this, they text you your TIME! not even a minute after crossing the finish line I got a text. They use RoadID. I think EVERY race should use it.
