The menu includes both traditional and specialty pizzas, from the Porchetta, topped with pork, thinly sliced potato and fresh thyme, to the Cremina, a mushroom-​and-​fontina-​cheese pizza that gets a decadent boost from black-​truffle cream. The restaurant we also offer organic salads, a variety of panini and pasta and homemade desserts.

The contemporary interior, adorned with captivating Zebra and Wenge wood, features an exhibition kitchen with an open stone-​oven. Executive Chef and Owner Alberto Morreale invites his guests to taste the traditional wood-​fired pizzas and made-​to-​order organic salads, all created with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Bite into a savory Italian fennel sausage panini with roasted red peppers and onions or the Prosciutto pizza with pomodoro sauce, organic arugula and two cheeses. During his early years growing up in Palermo, Sicily, Alberto Morreale had absolutely no inkling that he would one day become a master chef. At age 14, a friend suggested that Alberto contact a local restaurant that was in need of new employees. There he was put to work in the kitchen performing cleanup duties. After only a few months, he became imbued with a passion for the preparation of Italian cuisine and learned the intricate secrets of the Sicilian kitchen.

After a successful career as a chef in Italy, Alberto’s passion took him on a journey to San Diego, where he mastered the kitchen, never giving up his dream to one day have his own restaurant.

Today, Alberto Morreale has risen to the level of executive chef and now is bringing his dream to fruition with his very own gourmet Italian pizzeria, La Focaccia. Alberto is excited to bring the influences of Italy, with top-​quality local ingredients, to Hillcrest, a community that has been very warm and welcoming to him.
