Lee’s Cycle Service

I have not been impressed by Lee’s Cycle. I took my motorcycle there in December with an issue that I thought was going to be a simple fix. After diagnosing the bike and not finding the issue, the service manager suggested that I purchase a used computer (ECM) for the bike since he was 50% confident that that was the problem. It was either that, he said, or the tech would have to go through the manual and test each part that could be malfunctioning (which would increase the cost of the diagnosis until the issue was found). Since I was already two hours of labor into this situation, I went out and bought a computer (it wasn’t cheap). Turns out, that wasn’t the problem. So, after that, I decided that Lee’s wasn’t the best place to fix my bike. I took it to the dealer and they fixed it. I had to pay the diagnosis fee, plus I have an extra computer that I haven’t been able to sell. I had to have my bike towed to the next place. Take your bike to Lee’s if the problem is not electrical. They do fine with those types of repairs.

Customer service is very professional and they are very knowledgable about everything. Called to see if they could get me in and they took care of me the same day. Military friendly in addition to low prices.

This is a great shop. I called on Monday morning to see if they could replace my brake pads and change my tires and they were able to do the work that same day. I was in and out of there in under two hours. Their prices were competitive with other shops in the area. I would recommend this place to others.

My experience at Lee’s was stellar. The fellas in service checked out my bike, talked over my options, made recommendations and repaired my bike. No hassle!

Got a full system exhaust and power commander put on my 2015 ZX-​14, also got it dyno tuned, price was super fair! Customer service was EXCELLENT! The work completed was top of the line! Bike runs AMAZING! I was definitely taken care of with top of the line service. If you’re not getting service done at Lee’s I highly recommend you start! This is the only place that will ever do service on my bike again! Appreciate everything this is by far the best service shop I have been to in SoCal and I have been to a few! Keep up the great work and awesome customer service!

This is a very rider friendly establishment and respectable business. I had some work done on my bike and also biked tuned and i will say by FAR best work in San Diego. I will only be dropping my baby off to Lee’s Cycle. I STRONGLY recommend Lee’s i they went above and beyond and i came out with more power than before with this amazing custom dynotune.

Ten years ago I would have given this shop ⁴⁄₅ stars. Even though they performed work that I didn’t ask for, the work was top notch. My ZRX ran perfectly. In 2015 I brought in a different bike and they diagnosed it when I wanted them to diagnose it and then fix it. Rode it home, wait, it ‘s not fixed. Back to shop, wait for more aftermarket non OEM parts, ride it home. Wait, they didn’t fix the electrical short that I told them about. Apparently finding a short is too time consuming for them. I got online and searched the forums; the electrical short was right under the gas tank as expected for this model. I did give them an extra star for taking down the pictures of women in bikinis though.

Such awesome service and extensive knowledge. These guys know what they’re talking about, and their service is out of this world fast. I promise you wherever you take your bike now for service, lee’s will not only heat how much it costs, but how quickly you will get your bike back. Eric showed unbelievable dedication to getting me back on my bike asap after I brought it in for repairs after crashing, super friendly and highly knowledgeable. Give that man a raise!!! I highly recommend them not only for repairs, but upgrades too! They can order anything you need. ⁵⁄₅!!! I’m definitely coming back!!!

Have been taking my bike here since i moved to the San Diego area and they have yet to let me down. Always quick turn around times on getting my bike fixed and they even work around my schedule so that i am not without my commuter for too long. Great mechanics and service.

Dropped my duc off to get my quickshifter tuned on the dyno and had it back within hours. Also got a few valuable tips along with it.

Was referred there from another sport bike rider and could not be more stoked! Took my 2012 Busa to them and Billy found another 10.2 HP to top me out at 186.46 HP!
He also corrected some incorrectly installed wires on the power commander. Not for a fee just a favor. Cool. Gotta love it. Great customer service, fast turn around time and clean work. They explained what and why they do their work which made me instantly at ease. Went so well that they are now working on my 2014 GSXR 1000.

Came here for a carb sync/​clean and it took longer than quoted. Also, when I took it off the lot, the idle was not holding properly so I had to return my bike for another day. Turns out that they forgot to adjust the float tubes. Also, there’s ticking noise AFTER their service that I’ll have to investigate on my own or through another service shop. The front service desk guy was friendly and accommodating, considering the situation, but I would not trust the shop with my bike again. I made a mistake by ignoring the negative reviews on here.
Also, a mechanic in there named Eric sells parts at the shop. The thing is that he claimed that his parts are OEM, and then when called out on it being Chinese aftermartket parts, his only response was that, «it bolts right up.» This leads me to wonder if they actually use OEM parts to customers that pay for OEM.

I’m very happy with the work they did on my bike. Other shops weren’t interested in working on my 1988 yamaha xt 600 since its on the older side and doesn’t look that great. I like the bike though and knew it needed some attention and that’s what they did, full service tune up including rebuilding the carburetor.

I never take my bike anywhere else. I’m still on my first bike and these guys have never steered me wrong. When hitting a new shop, I’m always concerned about being over-​charged or over-​sold. Every suggestion I’ve received from them I’ve checked with other enthusiasts as being above-​board – they’ve never steered me wrong.
I have to say, Eric really took care of me this last visit, communicating every step of the process, even cleaning up my bike for me. His attention to detail was very appreciated!

My old roommate took his bike here to troubleshoot his Kawasaki ZX-​6R he bought used. The bike was running very rich and was only getting low 20s MPG and sometimes even in the high teens. It should have been getting at least high 30s and low 40s the way he was riding it (not accelerating hard, shifting at mid RPMs).
They took a look and did some work claiming it was all fuel map related. The bike did not operate any better nor get better gas mileage. If anything it was worse after they worked on it. On top of that the shop said that he needed to rev the bike more and accelerate harder to improve gas mileage. Anyone with common sense, knows that in all cases this will lead to using more gas not to mention quickly break the speed limit and risk breaking the law.
I would do yourself and your bike a favor and stay far away from this shop. The reviews on Unilocal have shown many horrible and disturbing things for a mechanic’s shop. Some highlights: false quotes, terrible work and making things worse.

I’ve been dreading this review, but it has to be done. First off, avoid this store like the plague. I took my 2004 V Star 1100 here for a carb rebuild. First thing I asked, can you do it for under $ 500. And that’s where the lies started.
Initial quote was $ 480 for the work, which involved replacing a ring and a gasket, an overnight soak, and an adjustment. I was stoked. They asked when the last service was completed, told them it had been a while. They offered to do a tune up, and a valve adjustment, and the total bid was just under $ 550. Not a bad deal to me, sign me up! Then they said they didn’t have the parts in and would have to order them. No problems, I can’t drop my bike off until after the weekend anyways, so I asked them to order the parts. No problem, they said. Drop it off Monday, you can pick it up Wednesday, they said. I was super stoked.
Dropped off Monday, called Wednesday afternoon. They still didn’t have the parts they said they had ordered last Thursday, but they should be in later this afternoon, we should have your bike ready tomorrow evening. Alright, I say, that’s not an issue. Call Thursday afternoon, bike won’t be ready until Monday, shipment is delayed. Well, that sucks, I was looking forward to a weekend ride. Not really anything I can do though, they tell me that the bike is taken apart. Call Monday, again. Still don’t have the parts, sorry, we’ll call you when we do. Uh, no, you have my transportation, I’ll be checking in on you, thank you very much. Finally get the bike back on Thursday, a full 2 weeks after they said they placed the order, and a full week and more after they said I could get my bike back initially.
And that’s just the beginning. Walk into their shop to get my bike, expecting to pay just under $ 550, like we had agreed. They tell me it’s gonna be $ 650. Uh, no, my quote was over $ 100 less than that. He pulls the quote and says it was done wrong, the bill is actually $ 650. Now I’m pissed. I was not happy before, but you’re just adding insult to injury at this point. I also figure if I don’t pay, they aren’t gonna give me my bike back. I pay, my bike is more important than this stoner in front of me at this point. They wheel my bike out front, I jump on and go, I’m so done with this place.
Get home 10 minutes later confused as hell. My bike sounds AWFUL. Where there used to be a sweet, throaty purr, there is now a tackity-​clicky noise that sounds like my bike is about to fall apart. WTF! Put it in first and away I go, back to that damn shop.
Pull up an let them know something really, really isn’t right. «Sounds fine to me bro…» Seriously? Do I look like I’m stupid? The mechanic comes out and tells me, after 5 minutes of bitching, that I’ve got an old bike, the valves were way off, and this is just how it is now. That’s not acceptable to me, and I let them know that. And he retorts with «Well, I can do a valve job, but it’s gonna be about two grand.» Catch that? After charging me $ 100 more than my quote to break my bike worse than it was when I brought it in, they want to charge me TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS to fix something THAT WASN’T BROKEN when I brought it to them. Jumped on my bike and peaced out, screw these guys.
The next day, I was out of gas. I thought that was weird, because I had a full tank right before I brought it in, but no, got it to the gas station and it took a full 5 gallons. I’ve since spoken to other shops about all of this. Most of them wouldn’t have removed the gas. The few that would have said they’d have stored it and put it all back, it’s my gas after all.
The next day my rear brakes failed. I wasn’t even aware they were low, as they had just been replaced less than a year ago. Changed my brakes, and the pads were completely gone. Did I expect Lee’s to replace my brakes? No. Did I expect them to inform me about any hazardous conditions? You bet your ass.
Fast forward a few weeks, I bring my bike to a shop out in El Cajon. Ask them about the click. It’s valves, give us till tomorrow and we’ll have it fixed, gonna be about $ 200. Fine, that’s cool, I just need this done. Get the bike back the next day (I was amazed), and they let me know that the adjustments that Lee’s did on my valves were more than 100% off (.0004 +/-.0001 and .0006 +/​-​.0001 is what they were supposed to be, they were actually .0009 and .0012 respecively), as well as the wiring for my carb was routed completely wrong, and while it wasn’t an issue at this time, it could be in the future with rubbing.
In sum, I was overcharged, my bike was returned in worse condition than when I left it there, they wanted to charge me $ 2,000 for a problem that they created and was resolved for less than $ 200 at Motoworld in El Cajon, they stole my gasoline, and didn’t do any kind of check on the overall condition of my bike.
Again, I stress, avoid this shop like the plague. They do not seem to know what they are doing when it matters, and they don’t seem to care about their customer
