Loft2015 Apartments

By far the WORST place I ever lived in SD.
Extremely overpriced for awful quality in the least appealing location. Trash (literally and figuratively) everywhere surrounding the complex and inside the complex as well (Section 8).
Obscenely loud, unsafe, and overall poor quality of the units, make Loft 2015 the biggest ripoff in the city.

Property manager and maintenance staff are great. The neighborhood is not ideal due to noise from the train and club. The units are clean and have a unique layout.

Very happy with the staff at Loft 2015… Thank you! The only thing that would improve the grounds would be a gym with a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room… Ha Ha!

Shaina is the most awesome property manager I have ever experienced! She needs a raise! How dedicated to actually LIVE on the property. Imagine having a million residents hounding you every time you leave your apartment? On the elevator? Taking your dogs outside? That girl is the best employee in the world.
We moved into this property last fall from Southern Mississippi. I have a small son and a small doggie. We absolutely love it here. I am so blessed and thankful for Shaina and how smooth our transition was. Yes, it is definitely pricey, but, it’s actually the least expensive place within the school area for my son. Grant Elementary is our main reason for moving to this area and without Loft 2015, we wouldn’t have been able to afford a place within the Grant area.
Anytime we have ever had a maintenance call, it was fixed immediately. Any email, complaint, suggestion or just a hello to the office and Shaina has always been returned courteously and prompt. I have no complaints and I am from the south!!! We love it here!

My fiancé and I moved into Loft 2015 just about 3 months ago and it has been the best experience! Shaina, the community manager, is amazing — so sweet and incredibly inviting. AMAZING customer service! If something is wrong, maintenance is in here within 24 hours (but usually way sooner). Also love that there is a security man patrolling the property during night time hours — sometimes I get up before the sun goes up to get to work and it always makes me feel safe that he is around.
We live in the 2 bedroom, 1.5 bathroom layout. We just checked online to see how many square feet our place was and were shocked that it was only 846 square feet. It feels so much larger than that and very spacious — the design of the building and of the individual lofts is very precise, detailed and calculated. The use of the space is amazing and since we have an upstairs and downstairs — it feels more like the size of a condo than a loft. The designer did an incredible job! You can tell it was a well-​thought out space and aesthetic design.
The design of everything is sleek, new, clean, modern and beautiful! Also, the location is great. It is urban living without the hectic urban life and crazy high prices. Little Italy, downtown or Hillcrest is only a $ 5 Über! We live on the side next to the train (something we really expected to bother us, but we barely hear it!) and often times feel like we are secluded in a quiet, private space!
Everyday, I come home and am so happy we moved here. Such a great ambiance, new designs and stainless steal appliances, full unit AC, washer and laundry in the unit… I could go on and on.
Best apartment and tenant experience paired. Great management, beautiful units!

My family and I have lived here since December 2015 and we love it! It is definitely Urban living so if you aren’t ready for that then don’t apply. The property manager Shaina is a sweetheart and always responds right away to any questions or concerns we might have. The maintenance man is great and is always working hard on the property. It’s centrally located and pet friendly. I would recommend this property to friends and family and hope to call it home for quite some time

I really just don’t where to start with this review. It has been one negative experience after the next. I keep to myself and work long days and really don’t spend a lot of time at home but damn… I am just fed up with living here. I reluctantly signed an extension to my lease and have regretted it ever since. I even had one of my animals ran over by a car because of a whole in the fence they never bothered to fix until AFTER my dog died and I complained. I stayed because moving sucks… let’s be honest, and really like the management and maintenance staff but I just can’t validate the value any longer.
From our mail getting stolen, packages going missing, to our stove (that has been broken since November) not getting fixed after repeated attempts to work with management, to increased rent for NO improvements to the grounds and/​or overall quality of the complex continues to go down. We have had 2 floods due to poor maintenance of storm drains (and somehow this was our fault) that ruined the furniture and carpet in the office. When I asked for it to be replace when I renewed, they declined and simply steam cleaned it.
The «grassy» area outside is a hot mess, and not maintained for what you imagine you’d get with the high rents. Most tenants have pets and is a huge selling point for them, but their upkeep is disgraceful.
There is no sense of community and isn’t as «pet-​friendly» as you’d imagine, as you need to keep the pets leashed. It would make much sense to have a space gated for animals to play and well worth the investment. This common in pet-​friendly complexes.
I truly would not suggest moving into this complex. There are many other better options for the outrageous prices they expect here for non-​stop noise due to the trolley and amtrak lines, and club Spin across the street that makes parking a nightmare from Thursday-​Sunday.

I’m going to say that I am a tenant as of now I applied for one of the lofts and I am supposed to move in on Saturday but I have visited a lot of complexes today but every single one they were terrible with customer service and rude so I was bout to call it quits until I seen loft 2015 and I’ve always loved the layout and style of a loft but anyways I called to see if the leasing office was still open and if there were any vacancies and the young lady named «SHAINA» was the kindest heart person in my opinion keep in mind the office closed at six but she welcomed me and my aunt with open arms answered all my questions and made me feel comfortable and the community has a lot of kind hearted people as well very pet friendly and humble and I love it already and I don’t sign my lease until Saturday but I recommend this complex to anyone and wish I could give 10 stars so thank you so much shaina and loft 2015!!! San Diegos best kept loft secret love it!!!

We have lived at the property for about a year now, and we are currently in our second unit.
To say I enjoy the community is an understatement. Aubrey and Joaquin are nothing less then perfect when it comes to promptness. Aubrey is always willing to help us out with anything that we need. My husband frequently goes on deployments and being around people I can trust is really important. Being in an area close to downtown there is always noise, but when you close the windows they are practically soundproof.
I will say if you don’t like pets, this place is definitely not for you. All of us either have pets or love them! The community area is great for when we all just want to hang out together outside and bbq.
We found that loft 2015 has the most «band for your buck» in the whole area, considering there is secure parking and storage, as well as laundry in EACH UNIT and they also accept multiple pets.

This is the best apartment complex I have ever stayed at. The property manager is so sweet. She is so helpful and easy to talk to. We did have a couple issues one with the shower drain clogging and one with ants but they came and took care of the issue within 24 hours. I also appreciate that they let the residents know if they will be working on the water line ahead of time. I really loved that they had a gated backyard for our dog to run around and and underground parking. We would be staying but we need a bigger place.

It is my experience that most people do not write reviews about the places they live unless they are unhappy, which is why I believe the reviews for this place are so low. I have lived here for about 4 months now and, I have to say, I couldn’t be happier!
My husband and I, of course, read the Unilocal reviews on this place before we decided to even apply to live here and now, 4 months later, here is what I have to say about the common complaints in these reviews:
«It’s loud” — While we were getting a tour of the place, it was disclosed to us right from the beginning that there would be noise no matter which side of the property we lived on. The building on the east side will have nightclub noise from Spin (to which we were also informed would be expanding their hours to include more weekdays) and the building on the west side would have noise from the trains (to which we were informed that the area was a required horn blowing area and all trains passing by would be whistling away). We were told about this FIRST THING so there were no surprises when we moved in and… wait for it… heard the train! The windows do a great job of keeping the noise out when they are closed but expect to hear the noise when you want to open the windows and enjoy that nice San Diego breeze!
«Pet poop and barking” — This is in EVERY pet-​friendly community. It comes with the territory and can be a problem even in the nicest communities. You have to assume that if a community allows their residents to own pets that there will then probably be some noise and there will also probably be left over pet waste from lazy pet owners. I rarely find pet poo in the back pet area and, when I do, am really frustrated because there are ample waste bags and trash cans! I also see the maintenance crew out there every couple of days with their shovels helping to keep the grounds nice and clean.
«Poor security” — So here’s the thing: the LOFT2105 apartments offer little storage units and bike racks in the garage and this was a HUGE plus for my husband and I when we were deciding on a place to live (we have a lot of crap). These storage units are just surrounded by simple chain link fencing to which you can affix your own lock to. Aubrianna (the site manager) strongly recommended that if we got a storage unit, that we pick a nice sturdy lock and that we place a tarp over the fence to deter looky-​loos from examining your stuff and being tempted to take it. She also told us (in case your common sense didn’t already know) not to place anything valuable in them. They aren’t super secure and aren’t there as a safe, but rather as a place to store the things you can never find space for in your home. These lofts are monitored by security guards but, let’s be real, they can’t be everywhere at once so there is a possibility that thieves will sneak in, like thieves do, and steal your goodies if they are in plain view. It’s like leaving your purse or a computer in the front seat of your car– you’re practically begging them to break in and steal it. just don’t be an idiot and you and your stuff will be FINE. On that note, I have never heard of anyone’s actual apartment being broken into, so that’s a plus for me!
«Unresponsive staff” — Now this one I just don’t get. Aubrianna is SUPER accessible and is more than accommodating with anything we need. We had a couple of repair requests when we first moved in and she got them taken care of either that day or the day after, I was impressed! The day we moved in, she took the time to walk me through how to get to my parking spot and then from the parking spot to my front door. She made sure I knew where the mailboxes were and, once we were inside my unit, told me the trick to getting the doors to close tight and how to avoid an incredibly large AC bill. She really took the time to show me all the little things you don’t think about until you need it and I really appreciated that. Most places will just hand you the keys and wish you luck, but I was made to feel super comfortable every step of the way! Also, the maintenance staff is SO NICE! They are always willing to help you with anything you need and will always greet you with a smile and a «good morning» when you walk by.
I can honestly say that this is one of the best apartment communities I have ever lived in. I have met so many AMAZING neighbors whom I now call friends. I love the impromptu neighborhood barbeques and get-​togethers! On top of that, I LOVE the modern interior finishes, all the storage space and the in-​house washer/​dryer! Not to mention the convenient location. I mean, Mission Hills, Hillcrest and North Park are right up the hill, you’re about 1 – 2 miles from Little Italy and downtown (we ride our bikes down and it’s awesome!) and there’s easy access to the 5, the airport and trolley.
I’m glad the grumps that wrote those bad reviews are no longer living here, perhaps they just weren’t the right fit for our community!

I absolutely love living here! It is very urban and modern. I love that most. The train and trolley are something I enjoy as well. It is super close and love being within walking distance to the trolley. I have met so many nice people and their doggies.
Aubrianna and the rest of the staff are always super nice and helpful. Every morning when I leave for work Joaquin is always working hard in the courtyard area and always tell me to have a great day.

Seriously, if you have a dog this place is wonderful. Dog park, nice people.
The manager aubrianna is one of the best managers you could ever meet. Maintenance jouiqiin is fantastic. Neighbors are super friendly and nice.
Next door specialty produce offers neighbor discount.
It’s an urban neighborhood so it’s a bit noisy with club on weekends and trains.
If you don’t want to live in the city Santee is only a short 45 minutes away.

Unilocal is a really good tool to see how things are ran and what other people think about a certain business. That being said, I am certainly glad that I gave this property the benefit of the doubt after reading the horrendous reviews people have left. All amount to the same thing; train, dog poop, and manager not being on site.
If you move to a place that is 15 feet away from the train, don’t complain about it. The windows are thick and do a very good job at muffling the sound of the train.
This is a pet friendly community and you see and hear dogs all around. In my experience, owners of the dogs do take care of their droppings and the windows again do an amazing job. Never in the 6 months living here have I stepped or seen dog poop lingering around.
As for the property manager, Aubrianna is respectful and very prompt at replying to emails and phone calls. She will make time for you if need be and the office is open every morning. Aubrianna is the single manager for this property so she is bound to not be present at times. I’ve put in a couple of service requests for common mishaps, and they were promptly resolved.
I know that management will go above and beyond to make sure that you are having a pleasurable experience in your home.
Joaquin, the maintenance tech is also very respectful and has amazing work etiquette.
Definitely going to renew the lease.

Worst place I have ever lived. Loft 2015 is riddled with nuisances you shouldn’t have to deal with in your HOME.
Dogs park constantly, and the sound echoes in the complex. Owners do not clean up after their dogs, so beware of land mines in common areas. Management’s notes are ineffective at curbing the issues. It’s like living in a dog pound.
Security is available on site; however, my husband and I had our bikes stolen from our storage units. Management was unable to review security footage until 24 hours later, which renders surveillance systems useless. Also, gates were often propped open when people were not moving in or out, and the garage door was inoperable about once a month.
Neighbors overstuff all trash receptacles, and the property maintenance man (Joaquin – who is the best thing about L2015) was often required to clean up after disrespectful neighbors.
The train noise is obnoxious – even with the windows closed, the neighborhood is often littered with trash, and on the weekends the two nearby clubs are loud.
On the up side, living next door to Specialty Produce is great – always an abundance of great eats. Acoustic Ales down the street is great for Friday night tastings, and the units are cool. For me, it was not enough to outweigh the rest.
Oh yeah, and my husband was bit by another resident’s aggressive dog. This followed several attacks to our dog, which we reported to management. The dog was allowed to stay, and that was our last straw. Nothing outweighs safety, and a management company who is not concerned for your safety shouldn’t offer you a home.
Maybe this suits you, or maybe you’d like to find a better place to call home… I hope you do.

Toured these apartments, they look amazing! The property manager Aubrianna was super nice, very helpful and patient with me, I had a lot of questions. You can tell she’s the type of person who really cares about her job. she does it all! I love that they do events for their residents, she was telling me about wine tastings they have done in the past so it’s super easy to meet your neighbors. It’s those little things, like the wine tastings & having a maintenance guy that is always available on site that make apartments like this a good value.

PLEASE READ THIS… DON’T MAKE A TRULY TERRIBLE MISTAKE…0 STARS!
Where to begin… definitely read the Unilocal reviews for this location… people are not lying when they say how bad it actually is… the only two positive comments are completely confused and have the wool pulled over their eyes.
Day one — contacted Lofts 2015 and made arrangements to meet with bldg. manager… late as usual just like everyone said in their Unilocal reviews plus she had someone else there to see the location at the same time we were supposed to meet with her.
Most of the time, living directly across from the front gate I saw several people waiting around for her, aimlessly trying to figure out how to get into the building… waiting and waiting, I personally walked down several times to just let people in because I felt bad for them! Now my biggest problem with this is how in the heck can she always be running late or almost never in the building because… wait for IT… She lives in the building, how is this even possible???
This brings me to one of my biggest issues. For a community of this size, they only have two people working. The building manager and Juanito, the only tech janitor on site. With her very rarely being around and almost never in her office, it’s obviously very difficult to view any issues with her building or additional spaces adjacent to the building. To live there and walk past dog poop, trash, puke, cigarette butts, beer cans and bottles etc is just beyond me. How can you possibly run a building with just two people and one just doesn’t care. Now for Juanito, he is one of the hardest working janitors I have ever seen, but he can’t possibly do this by himself, he deserves a raise and some extra help. It could be a lot easier to maintain the cleanliness of the building if those people who lived there didn’t treat it as if it were a frat house…
Bringing me to my next point, there are a select few in that building who live there who have any type of respect for the building or their neighbors. Skateboarding and bike riding inside the the community, jumping on furniture and doing tricks on their boards, not only in the main area but also inside the garage. Friends of neighbors jumping over the front gate because their buddies are too lazy to let them in. Puking all over the entrance and common areas is a very normal experience, drunk crying «girl» sleeping on the entry way couches because her and one of her boyfriends have argued again for the umpteenth time! Partying neighbors blaring their music way too loud and after being asked to turn it down on several occasions still doing it. Lastly, and probably worst of all… Those neighbors who have dogs don’t close their windows. The building sounds like a very loud and annoying dog kennel… it’s amazing how some people keep their dogs inside all day long and wonder why they are not happy and whine all day long. But even after discussing this with management, nothing happens! Thanks to the people who lived below us… barking from their dog that May have gone out once a day… sad!
Ok…now the fun part, Thieves… most likely inside job from someone who lives in the building, but nonetheless… thieves SUCK. Several bikes were stolen in addition to many other items, nothing done about it… according to the security guards (whom we will get to in a few minutes) informed me that the video cameras were at least 48 hours behind and very difficult to see who it was. Nothing ever came of it and no follow through from management, just the typical sad face and oh I’m sorry:(Unreal! Ok… security, these guys have to honestly be the most useless people ever. Sitting on the couches the majority of the evening doing what… texting or playing games on their cell phones! I confronted one of them and said what do u guys do that is so important on the cell phone? He told me that he needs to log everything before he wraps up for his tour… ok, but u just started! Whatever… then I told him about the stolen bikes, they had no idea and were not informed by management, are u kidding me! Lastly, they have zero authority… meaning they don’t have weapons or can’t arrest anyone if they saw an act deemed wrong or unlawful. He directly told me that all he could do was call 911… Really… so sad! I guess I’m a security guard too!
Ok running out of room, the building looks cool and the two story loft is a cool layout, but PLEASE DONT FALL FOR THAT OR THE LOW RENT $… Trains, shoddy workmanship, crappy neighbors, terrible management, crazy nightclub across the street and around the corner, bums galore, recycling center two blocks down and there really isn’t any kind of neighborhood to walk to. SAD BUT TRUE!
Last thing… a truly ridiculous neighbor’s dog bit me, and the building did absolutely nothing about it, but THANKFULLY LET US OUT OF OUR LEASE A FULL MONTH EARLY! I took one for team and now my wife and I are happy! PLEASE DO NOT MOVE HERE!

WARNING: DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE CHEAP, SHINY CABINETS! DO NOT RENT HERE!
First off, before I go on this lengthy rant, the management team are extremely nice and helpful, but they can’t save this place from my fair and accurate review.
Okay, well now that you’ve been warned, let me just break it down into list format why I think nobody in their right mind should ever pay 1600/​mo or more to rent at this property.
1.) No Customer Service. Ever. — If you call the leasing office, prepare to not have your phone call answered.
PROVE IT: Call the leasing office 3 times throughout any given day, I guarantee 2 of the 3 will not receive an answer. It is literally IMPOSSIBLE to get someone on the phone, even for emergencies.
**Personal Experience** — If you lock yourself out of your apartment, prepare to be told by the maintenance manager to «CALL ANOTHER COMPANY». WTF really?! Not even a ‘lockout fee’ like most other complexes offer? Nope. Good thing these cheap doors can be broken into with a credit card, or I would have had to pay a locksmith who knows how much to come and let me in. What kind of complex lets their tenants sit outside burning in the sun when they are locked out? LOFTS 2015, that’s who!
2.) Build Quality — Growing up as the son of a general contractor, I’ve seen what good construction work yields. Lofts 2015 seems like it was built fast and cheap, and it shows. I have never seen any apartment fall apart SO FAST.
PROVE IT: On your tour of the apartments, check out the hinges on the cabinets, they are fastened by 2 TINY screws that rip out of the cardboard wood within the first few months of occupancy. The bathroom towel rings seem to get weaker and weaker by regular use until you cannot even hang towels from them. Pointless.
3.) The Trains — When you first arrive, you’ll notice the train tracks located 50 feet away from the back of the building. These trains do run all day and all night. When they pass the property, they sound their horns. This is probably some sort of safety procedure, but it’s extremely intrusive when you’re asleep.
PROVE IT: Just sit beside the property for an hour, you’ll notice the trains running.
4.) Club Spin — There is an after hours nightclub directly across the street. This particular club attracts a less than desirable demographic to our streets after 10PM.
PROVE IT: I’d like to invite any potential residents to cruise through Hancock St anytime between 11PM-​4AM on Friday, Saturday or Sunday night. You’ll thank me later.
Final Thoughts: Take your money elsewhere, it would be better spent. There a no amenities whatsoever, it is an extremely dangerous area (evident by the heavy police presence) and the customer service is terrible. This place would have a Zero Star rating if it were an option.
