Loma Palisades

I have lived at Loma Palisades for almost 6 years and have had a great experience. Reading some of the reviews of this complex makes me think that people have never lived in apartment communities.
Yes, I have had loud neighbors over the years but I’ve also had a steady community of great people who look out for each other and keep our area feeling like a home.
Yes, street parking can be difficult for both tenants and guests, but that is an issue that is common throughout the OB and Point Loma area. There are a lot of people in a pretty small area who all have multiple cars. Do the math.
Yes, the buildings are not the newest so that comes with some issues. However, I have never had a problem with maintenance coming and fixing any problem I’ve reported whether it be first thing in the morning or the middle of the night. In fact, over the 6 years I’ve lived hear, I’ve gotten to know most of the maintenance folks and am on such friendly terms that I can just ask one of them to fix something and they’ll make sure to get to it.
If you want the fancy ritz and glitz of some of the properties in the area, then by all means go live there and pay the premium for that and the location. However, if you don’t mind a little bit of lived in space, then come live at Loma Palisades where it is truly a community for a much better price for the space and location then you will get in the surrounding neighborhoods.

Don’t rent from these incompetent idiots! This place is horrible! This place gets one star for location! We have lived here for 4 months now and there has been nothing but maintenance problems. Nothing gets fixed! In the 4 months we have been here, our central heater has gone out three times, ice maker broke twice, roof leaks, walls leaking from the rain outside, carpets soaked from the leaking roofs, the water heater replaced, the breaker goes out all the time, and to much more to type! No one cares to help. People are very, very, rude here. I have lived in PB & DT, this has got to be the WORST apt place to live in. If you are considering it, DONT do it! Save your self the heartache and stress! This place SUCKS! Rent anywhere but here!!!
Don’t rent a place from the LOMA — Shit Palisades

THIS IS THE WORST PLACE YOU CAN RENT FROM!
THEY ARE LIARS AND SCAM YOU FOR YOUR MONEY!!!
The year we lived there was the worst experience we have ever had!
The place is infested with termites, we had termites dropping from the ceiling onto our bed.
They had there unliscensed matinence man spray our bathroom for termites, which is illegally and posinous. It made our toddlers sick! Chemicals on our toothbrushes, brushes, ETC.
We had issues with the oven right before thanksgiving, after harassing them someone finally came to «fix» it. We had let them know we will be cooking for thanksgiving so it was important we had it fixed, he insisted rudely it as, then On thanksgiving we had a house full of family and the stove went out, it took hours for someone to come and still did not get fixed. The turkey was finally ‘cooked” enough to eat at midnight.
they show you this nice condo, but when it comes to yours it is run down and old, the stairs are to skinny to get your bed up stairs and you will have to cut your bed springs, lot of dog shit every where, and watch out, alot break ins and traffic, and no parking, we had the place cleaned by a house keeper, the place was spot less and clean carpets, they kept my deposit and billed us for 900 dollars saying they had to clean it, which was bull shit!

The only reason that they even deserve a 1 star is because of the fact that I’m thankful I had a roof over my head for the time I lived at this location.
Although without even living here for a week my sister and I were both already counting down the days we could move out of our lease. We have had nothing but trouble with the apartment and the employees in the office.
We now use the expression «Freaking Loma!» all the time since literally its all the time that something is ridiculous. See the list below:
CONS:
–No parking if you have guests –the street parking is always horrible to find unless you want to walk a mile.
–If you do have parking spots you park directly behind the person so you block them in– plan on having to bother whoever you have living with to go move their car.
–Walls as thin as paper — I get apartment living but these neighbors are the worst. So LOUD.
— Speaking of loud– I hope you like the sound of blaring jet planes right above your head. That run religously from 5:45am until midnight.
— Summer nights you will religiously hear a fireworks show from seaworld. — sounds cool but it definitely gets old.
–we continuously had maintenance issues because the plumbing system is horrible. The toilets you have to flush at least twice to get your pee and a couple squares of TP down.
–Its an old place that has a lot of issues — plumbing, appliances, water leaks etc. Old building stuff.
–The office staff is horrible. They are about the least friendly, and least helpful people around. I work in customer service and retail and I can understand some difficulties but this is beyond. Their customer service sucks.
— I feel bad for the homeless men and some of them are nice but just know that they are going to be dumpster diving on a regular basis.
— The hallway upstairs is extremely small my sister couldnt get her box spring mattress up the stairs because it wouldn’t fit and its a queen size.
— Maintenance guys are nice but the landscape doesn’t get cut up that well.
— People leave their dog crap everywhere.
— I’m gonna stop here since this post is already getting to long.
PROS:
— Our lease is up! We can finally move out of «Freaking Loma»!

Loma Palisades is a great rental facility with great amenities and friendly staff. Cindy and Blyss were extreme helpful in the front office, setting up our apartment and handling our agreement. It’s hard to find a reliable rental in Point Loma, and The Palisades have been awesome!

Nice place to live. Great amenities, and people up front are great! Any problems with the house they are quick to fix. Good place for pets.

I have lived in Loma Palisades for almost 4 years now. I love it here. The office staff is always polite. They have helped me deal with a very difficult neighbor who was vandalizing my car. I also have a neighbor now that thinks her kids are the only ones that can play outside. I feel sorry for the girls in the office having to listen and deal with the complainers. The maintenance guys are always very helpful and friendly. If I had any complaints like some of the ones below… its apartment living not anything Loma Palisades is doing wrong. The units are very old however they do a great job trying to keep them updated. Parking sucks anywhere by the beach not just here. Its still the best bang for your buck in the OB/​Point Loma area!!!

My husband and I have been living here for almost a year and we will not be renewing our lease.
We loved living in this area but not at Loma Palisades. At the beginning everything was great, but as the months went on things just started to go down hill.
First, we moved in and noticed there were cracks on the walls throughout the townhouse, we thought okay can’t be too picky we’ll move on. We then notice our patio fence was broken, okay not to big of a deal we thought, so we called maintenance, super friendly guys but they told us that repairs are never made between the time the old tenant moves out and the new one moves in.
Then we started getting ANTS!!! Everywhere! Our daughter would have them crawling on her at night while she slept in her bedroom, let me remind you we allowed NO FOOD upstairs so what the ANTS were going after I have no idea! No matter what we did we could not get rid of them. We left no dirty dishes, we had no trash can (took all trash out immediately) and anything not in the fridge was in ziplock baggies and STILL our townhouse was covered in Ants. They were coming through the walls! Disgusting! Finally went down to the office to complain and we had our home sprayed and STILL we find ANTS. We can be sitting on the couch and they will be crawling on us!!!
Now parking, yes it can be hard but luckily we have a parking spot so we always had a car parked on the street every time we left so we knew coming home that wouldn’t be a issue. BUT ours cars get messed with! My husband has a nice truck, I’m sure if your reading this and live here now you know what white truck I’m talking about, that’s how nice, since living here his truck has gotten keyed, his hubcap was stolen off his brand new rims! That shit isn’t cheap. My car was hit last night while it was parked on the street and guess what, no note but it’s been hit out there before. They need to get a guard!!!
Now our wonderful neighbors, they fight constantly. Not arguing, full on fights, we can hear things being thrown, screaming at the top of their lungs. Cops have been called 3 times.
We lived in the ghetto before this and NEVER experience anything like this before. Never had bugs, neighbors never fought, cars were never messed with, didn’t have cracks in the walls. We really thought this was an upgrade but not anymore.
The staff in the office were always nice and helpful. Blyss alone gets 5 stars. She was wonderful just to bad these townhouses were not.
Long review but had to get it out.
Last thing, when getting our internet installed the guy told us the wiring was really old…

I took a tour a few days ago and loved the property Cindy was very helpful! Hopefully I’ll be moving in next month!

My husband and I came in last week and we were so pleased with the help we received from the leasing agent, Blyss. She was friendly, helpful, and she answered all the questions we had and provided us with so much information. Our moving plans ended up changing, but when we do decide to move in the future, we will definitely be back here — hopefully Blyss will still be there!

Who owns this complex? American Assets. Who is the chairman of the board? Mr Rady, the same Mr Rady that donates millions of dollars a year to charity but obviously doesn’t care about trash build up in his rental community. Just keep an eye out for the photos as they come in

If you don’t mind…
–Having neighbors that party 5 out of 7 nights of the week shout, play music so loud that you can clearly here every-​word of their music through your walls even when you already have a fan and sound machine on to try and NOT have them wake up your sleeping child
–Parking a mile away from your apartment cause there’s red curb everywhere, random Winnebago’s parked on the streets for days, not enough assigned parking
–Stepping in dog poop cause inconsiderate pet owners don’t clean up or throw away their pet waste into the trash bins around the community. (There is no way I could even kick a soccer ball with my son because there was always animal waste on every green patch of grass in the community)
–Homeless people digging through the recycle bin/​trash every day
–Homeless people sleeping in your front yard!
–Dogs barking all day and all night
–Living in the plane flight path
–Black Mold growing in your bathrooms– no matter if you keep the window open or not.
–Toilets backing up and overflowing CONSTANTLY.
–People breaking into your car (never happened to us but did happen to a neighbor)
–Washers and Dryers onsite always broken and eat your money you put into your laundry card
Then this place is for YOU!!!
I do have to say this though, the maintenance guys were a friendly bunch of hardworking guys who always made it out to our house the same day I made a maintenance request. Also, all the ladies in the office were very nice too. If you have great neighbors who are considerate of you having a job and having to get up early, this place might have worked out a lot better…
My advice… Best place to rent in San Diego is not from a property manager but from a landlord who actually owns the property you would be renting from.

This is my second time living here at the Loma Palisades and I don’t plan on leaving any time soon. Prime location in the heart of San Diego. 2 minute drive to the major freeways, walking distance to 711, vons, 24 hr fitness and much more. The leasing agents are super friendly and helpful. I always talk to Blyss and Blair. They’re the best! They handle all maintenance needs super quickly. No mold. Maybe some minor mildew (which I’ve never had) from the precipitation but nothing a wet cloth couldn’t handle. Stop being drama queens. Parking can be a little troublesome sometimes but it’s San Diego! Everywhere has parking issues and there’s no street sweeping in our community so no tickets! Anyway. Overall awesome place to live! If you have any doubts. Don’t! Hope this helped!

I have lived in San Diego my whole life as a graduate of pt loma high school I have lived in the many apartment complexes in the area over the last 25 years finding them to be mostly beach slumlords high rents for little provision leaving me to wonder how they still are in business fed up with not being taken care of for the amount of money I was paying them I moved in to one of Loma Palisades remodeled 3 bedrooms on a move in special which helpful when moving however I had a very terrible neighbor (manager of Loma palisades was attentive and wonderful and spent a lot of her time helping me) and went through a separation while living there (one of the worst times of my life) and because of the spacious upstairs downstairs vaulted ceilings new carpet and hardwoods (always installed after each tenant moves out) beautiful modern kitchens with glassed in cabinets skylighted bathrooms etc. I transferred with pleasure to a 2 bedroom very easily because of Blair Kim and Bliss who are the beautiful fantastic staff of Loma Palisades office they are great about taking care of problems or issues as they arise while offering me a cup of coffee!! I now live in the «alley» condos which doesn’t sound appealing but I love it!!! i adore my neighbors we have fire pit smores and bbq together and hang out at the pool which is one of the many great pools at loma palisades also I can do my laundry while laying out swimming at the pool my kind of so cal good living!!! i am only several blocks (walking distance) from my kids schools and local shopping areas a great place for families!! my kids have made many friends while living in the community play and also walk to school together!! the maintenance staff is fantastic very nice and attentive my favorite is Tim Wilson who is known for planting tenants amazing succulents!!! i finally feel as if myself and my children have found our final home I would recommend renting here to anyone who wanted an upgrade !!

It has been a few years since we lived at Loma Palisades. However, my family still talks about the conditions of living in «The Cave». For starters, here is a list of items that Loma Palisades has no control over, but future tenants should be aware of.
— Airplane Noise
— From 5 a.m. to sometimes 1 a.m. there are planes taking off from Lindbergh Field every fifteen minutes.
— Parking
— After 4 p.m. on weekdays and anytime on the weekends parking is frustrating. Good luck finding a spot and even better luck finding a spot near your unit.
— Homeless
— They are always walking through the community and digging in the trash. We had mail stolen from our mailbox that SDPD later found in the possession of a homeless person.
— Worden Street is a quick route for the fire department. There is a lot of noise.
— Petty Crime
— Our cars were broken into multiple times and there was nothing in them to be stolen!
As for what Loma Palisades has control over:
— Mold (Black)
— Loma Palisades mold remediation plan is to just paint over the old mold.
— Leaking roof
— Where do you think the mold comes from?
— When it rained the roof leaked onto the carpets and caused stains. Stains on the carpet meant we were held accountable.
— Worn out appliances
— Illegal parking in alley
— Could not get into or out of assigned parking.
— Garbage pickup at 8 a.m.
— Sleep in on the weekends? Negative.
— Poor lighting/​no lighting.
— This is partly why we called it «The Cave». Almost no natural lighting.
— Assigned parking was a long way off.
— Convenient to have a spot, but inconvenient when you need to lug groceries more than a quarter mile.
— Reference lack of parking above.
— Lack of secure post boxes.
— Ants, cockroaches, and other pests inside the apartment.
— Maintenance requests not fulfilled.
— A simple light bulb change on the outside took three requests.
— Not the maintenance crews fault. They were a friendly, hard working group of guys.
— Laundry facilities
— Save your time and money, and go to one of the nearby laundromats.
— Machines often didn’t cycle through and left clothes soaking.
I can keep going on. I lived in these apartments twice. The first time was great. Loma Palisades has sadly gone down in quality. For those looking to move here, your security deposit is doomed! You are guaranteed not to get it back even if you are thorough at cleaning. If you choose to stay at Loma Palisades, make sure you do a thorough walk through, don’t be rushed by the front office, and document everything (take pictures).

I’ve lived in San Diego for almost 20 years and the worst most miserable six months of that my time here was at Loma Palisades. everything about living there was absolutely horrible and worst of all the management itself insanely mean and negative vibed. I thought truly think the complex was built on the Native American burial site and it’s cursed for life whatever you do please stay far away from this place. I left after six months because it was so bad.

We moved in a few weeks ago and we love it! I’m a little concerned by the reviews I just read but I haven’t personally experienced any of these issues myself. I can tell you that right away we noticed how much better this property is than Mariners Cove! This community allows you to have private porches and put whatever you’d like on them. At MC they wldn’t allow ANYTHING on the porch. Not even outdoor furniture or bicycles!!!
I’ve noticed how nice the upkeep of the property is! Even behind the bushes where most people can’t see, its well groomed and taken care of. They take excellent care of the landscaping here!!!
The staff were sooooo friendly (Blyss) at the lease signing! We had a few concerns at move in (with neighbors we’d had in the past that unfortunately moved here) and she was very attentive! We switched units right away! She even stayed late to accommodate us!
All of our new neighbors are amazingly friendly and there are a lot of other families and children to play with! It seems they all kinda watch out for eachother. Its a nice family environment.
We have one carport and we park our other vehicle on the street. We’ve never had an issue finding a spot to park. Im fact, I usually get a spot closer to our townhome then the car port is!
We don’t have any mold issues or pests. We saw a couple spiders and just to be safe we asked the management to spray. They immediately set the apointment at zero cost to us! No questions asked!
The only thing I have noticed that I don’t like is there is no security at night time. The back alley (where our car port is) is very dark and needs more lighting. It can be scary walking back there at night.
Oh, and the laundry room is outdated but a reallly nice laundrymat is just on the corner so not really an issue.

— Ever Increa$ing Rent and No Unit Amenities Upgrades for tenants
— Latest News: overheard tenants say that LP offered them small rent discount on a month’s rent for a desperately needed nice review on here.

The office people seem to be really nice.
Hopefully the experience is just as nice.

One word; AVOID. What everyone below says is correct and more. Living here would be nice if management owned up to their faults and fixed plausible issues that occur within the homes.
Update *** beware of black mold on wood ceilings. Management claims there is no roof leak when there clearly is. I hear water trickling down on the wood ceiling in my room all the time, making a hotspot for
black mold to flourish. This is a very dangerous health hazard and must be dealt with!
