Mason’s Servicing BMW Automobiles

I have a BMW 645Ci and have used Mason’s BMW since my warranty ran out. Tom, the owner, is the most honest mechanic I’ve ever dealt with. Mason’s is thorough and reasonably priced. Tom always takes great lengths to explain everything and never pressures you into any service. If you like the loaner car, fancy waiting room, flat-​screen TVs and branded water bottles, Mason’s is not for you. But, if you’re looking for an honest and capable mechanic and reasonably priced service, give Mason’s a try.

Tom at Mason’s is a straight shooter, among a universe of crooked arrows, and certainly knows BMW’s. Period, end of story.

I’ve only been there once, but the honesty was refreshing. They did a detailed check-​up, eliminated the possible causes of the problem one after the other and came up with the most logical and probable issue. They called to explain the process to me, gave me the quote and fixed it the same day.
No meaningless gibberish, just honest and straight to the point.

Tom at Mason’s is unequivocally the most sincere and honest repair technician I’ve ever interacted with. It’s a good thing he is too, because these cars are complicated! On several occaisions now, he has helped guide me through issues with my vehicle and identified low cost measures to address them that the dealership and other independent repair shops would prefer I did not know of or understand. Simply put, he is concerned with helping you do the right thing for your vehicle with as little intervention as possible. If I had been taking my car to the dealer for repairs and following their recommendations for the check engine issue I’m having with my 2007 335i, I would be $ 1000 poorer and no better off with my problem! These guys are a rare find, and their value is only enhanced by the complexity and cost of the vehicles in which they specialize. I won’t take my car anywhere else.

Went in for just an oil change. Did a great job! They took the liberty to go over my 330i with a dentist mirror and explain to me step by step what was up with my car. Had no idea an oil change was such an educational experience. Trust these guys to help with any majors.

So I drove to get a prepurchase inspection done on a 3 series BMW. Tom took the car and looked over it with a fine tooth comb. Then he put it on a lift, broke out the flash light and looked at every piece of the under carriage and suspension. He gave the car the thumbs up, made some suggestions in terms of maintaining the car.
The attention to detail, prompt service and friendly clean environment will have me coming back for when my BMW is out of warranty.

I have only had 2 experiences with Mason’s so far but they have both been very positive. First time was when I had a taillight out on my old BMW 323ic, which I had had many issues with and was expecting to be told that there was an issue with the electrical system that would cost big bucks to replace. I stopped by just to see if I needed to make an appointment or if I could drop it off. The mechanic was working on another car at the time but he took the time to listen to what was wrong with my car. He had me pop the trunk and took the taillight out right then and there. He polished off the connectors and replaced the bulb, saying it was a fairly common issue with my model car, and put it back in and it worked great. Here was an instance when they could have been dishonest and said it was a big deal and I would have never known, but instead they were quick to help and very honest and it turned out to be the cheapest fix I ever had with that car.
The next time was with my BMW 325i when I had to replace the starter. I had it towed to the dealer and they quoted me an astronomical price in labor to replace it. I called another mechanic to see if I could get a quote and they wouldn’t even give me an idea what they would charge without me bringing the car in (even though I told them exactly what was wrong with it). Then I called Mason’s and the mechanic who answered the phone was great. He explained why it was such a labor intensive repair and quoted a price that was a few hundred dollars less than the dealership. Unfortunately I had already paid $ 160 for the diagnostic at the dealership and I would have had to leave my car at Mason’s and get a rental if I had it towed over from the dealership, so it would have been about the same all said and done. I really appreciated the time he took to look up the parts and explain what was going on.
I have a maintenance issue I need to take care of now and I am going to call Mason’s in the morning to set up an appointment. They have proven to me they are honest, knowledgeable, and good people to deal with. When it comes to mechanics, that is good as gold.
