Tin Auto Body

My family has been using Tin since the late 80’s/early 90’s and when a car backed into me I knew who to call. He not only fixed my issue and blended the paint nicely, he actually fixed a scratch that I was told would take $ 3000 to fix because the panel in question is one whole piece that goes along most of the car. Tin fixed that, painted a spoiler I purchased that was originally purple and I wanted silver, and also painted a rear panel where the license plate goes all within my budget! He did an excellent job and could not be happier!

HE HAS MOVED! He is now at 2245 Morena… next to the Sherwin Williams (still in the alley). Still awesome.

This place is great. It’s family owned and ran. They were really nice and gave me great price. They did good work on 2 cars. I recommended them.

My bf was really ticked off with me that I’d trust my baby to someone I totally didn’t know and he bitched that Tin’s would also NOT have my car ready until 5pm closing time. Boy, did he eat his words. Tin’s shop called and my car was ready as promised and he would come get me if I needed a ride (when I dropped my car off, he dropped me off where I had to go until my car was ready).
As I was backing up a slight incline into a carport space, my driver side rear passenger door swung open and whacked the concrete wall. Ouch!!! (I thought the door was shut tight)
It’s been like this for awhile as I’ve been reluctant to take it to any of the auto body sharks in the local Los Angeles area… so anyway, I’ve always made sure no one used that door as it was kinda tight opening and closing.
Since I like to spend time down in the San Diego and Baja area, I decided to see if Unilocal could help me locate a auto body shop in San Diego — that’s how I found Tin’s. Tin’s is an unpolished little gem in an alley between Kane And Jellette. It’s not fancy but Tin is honest and fair and he did a very good job on my door. He told me my job would take about 2 – 2.5 hours and he was right on. He even charged me less than what he originally quoted me; that was nice surprise!!!
Now my bf is considering taking his Mercedes in for new paint and some minor body work and repairs too. HA! Cash Only.

Fortunately I knew about Tin.
My guy friends with fancy cars have been trusting their cars to him for bodywork and paint — for over 20 years. Porsches, Mercedes, BMWs.
He’s less expensive than everyone else (although I went through insurance for this, but I did compare estimates from Caliber, Mossy, and a few other shops). He has a small shop so he’s doing most of the work himself, and is really honest. He does exactly what he says he’s going to do. And tells you exactly when it will be ready.
He repainted all 3 sides for me in a little over a week. It looks like a factory paint job and exactly matches the original color. I’m happy.
I’m always happy to support a small business instead of the big chain Collision Centers.

Mr. Tin only accepts cash. No checks or credit cards. No tax or receipt either. The front of his auto body shop is located on an alley between Kane and Jellette. Morena Blvd. runs parallel to the alley. The address is actually 2423 ½. I made the mistake of just going there to get an estimate and going there to pick up my car. He preferred that I called 1^st to indicate I was coming for an estimate and that I called when I was on my way to pick up my car after he completed the repairs since there was another client’s car blocking mine and had a pick up time similar to mine. He’ll even drive you to the car rental place. More than satisfied w/​the work he did on my car. Always call him (his cell #) when you’re on your way to see him for estimates, pick ups, drops, etc. since he’s a busy guy.

Tin is great! Based on Jason L.‘s Unilocal recommendation, I went in for an estimate. I ended up saving at least $ 350 (40% of what I would have been paying). There’s a little car rental place close to Tin’s shop where you can rent a car for $ 30/​a day. It’s really convenient and Tin got the work done in record time (said it would take 3 days but got it done in just one and a half!). Thank you Tin!!!
