Having been in the plumbing industry since I was a baby, I knew one day I would be on my own. I started full time plumbing as soon as I graduated high school but have been working in the industry since I was about 13. I have done service, repair, trouble shooting, and new construction for residential homes and commercial buildings. I grew up in southern California and plan on staying here forever. I took over Mr. Rooter Plumbing of San Diego on September 1st, 2012. Since doing so, I have upgraded all vehicles, equipment, and personnel. If you want your plumbing issue inspected by a professional, please let us know. I have only honest, respectful, reliable, courteous, and reasonable technicians on my team.

Came within an hour of the time I called on Friday to fix an emergency. Pipe broke and flooded basement. Professional, helpful, friendly, good work. No problems with the work. From my perspective, expensive. The plumber needed to pick up a part, and I expected to pay for his time to get the part. He took about 3 hours from the time he arrived to the time he left and the bill was over $ 400. I would have rated the service five stars were it not for the cost. On the other hand he did provide and accurate estimate before he started work so I was not surprised at the end. Maybe instead of getting a doctorate in chemistry I should have become a plumber. By the way two friends of mine made the same mistake, one left his job a faculty member at a university and went to plumbing the other stayed on the faculty. It’s a close call.

I called Mr Rooter today for a small plumbing emergency. They got Eric Carter out to help me in about an hour. Eric was very friendly, an absolute pleasure to deal with. He quickly assessed the problem and had it fixed within an hour. He did a great job and left the place where he worked cleaner than it was before he got there. All this great, fast service for a very reasonable price. I was totally satisfied with Eric’s service and would highly recommend him. Should I have any more plumbing needs, I will contact him again. Thanks for being awesome Eric and Mr. Rooter!

I would never hire them again. My water softener busted and clogged all the faucets, toilets, and showers in my house, which I determined on my own. «Mr. Rooter» wanted to install new plumbing lines for an estimated $ 10,000. I ended up changing out all the faucets valves and flushing out all the plumbing lines myself. Saved myself $ 9,950. The only good thing «Mr. Rooter» did was reroute the water line from the water softener. Oh, and «Mr. Rooter» charged me $ 180 for new shower knobs, which I saw at home Depot for $ 40. If you have a plumbing problem and want to save money, just youtube it first.

Can I give zero stars?!? Let me be completely honest with you. .. Our main line to the sewer was plugged. The plumber that came out from Mr Rooter told us we needed to have a new main line sewer access point installed for $ 1500 because he couldn’t find ours. My husband then went out and was able to find our access within 10 minutes using a shovel. All he had to do was dig 1 inch under the grass that had grown over it to find the access. And it was actually exactly where the plumber said he thought it should be. Too bad the plumber didn’t bother to check before quoting $ 1500!!!
Next, he worked on the line for several hours. The plumber said he wasn’t able to clear the line for the normal $ 250 and told us he needed to use a «hydro scrub» for $ 1050! At that point we asked him to leave, and another local plumber came out to our rescue and was able to fix our problem within 15 minutes for $ 105.
I highly recommend looking at my other Unilocal reviews to find the good guys because they rock and Mr Rooter sooooooo does not.
ZERO stars aren’t low enough. Boo to you Mr. Rooter.

Great experience for a good price. Javier and Patrick came to our house, assessed the situation and were able to make a major repair the same day. We had to replace our drain line from the kitchen/​laundry room out to the main line. It was 56 years old and cracked in half (saw it on the video camera inspection). Patrick immediately went to work and did a fantastic job. It was a hot day and he pushed through it with a great attitude from start to finish. He is a super nice guy and we are back in action. We are very thankful for this professional experience. A++ :)

My sewer backs up every 2 years or so. This time I called Mr. Rooter and I am pleased beyond belief with the turn-​around time for the techs/​plumbers to come to my house. When you cannot use the toilet you really want to! I absolutely recommend this business to all of you in San Diego. While talking to Javier and Billy, we discussed getting my sewer lined thus preventing the tree roots from damaging my pipes beyond their almost useless state as they are in now. Javier also mentioned their payment system which I may take advantage. Also, I plan to use them to redo my kitchen sink plumbing and hook-​up my new dishwasher. Both of these projects are must do’s on my #1 list. I have avoided doing them since I dreaded the process of calling and waiting for a plumber. Not anymore.
When you call them to make an appointment make sure you ask about coupons, there are some online and the techs have them too.
Do not be fooled by other so called low prices that you see online. My bill ended up to be reasonable and that drives me to call on them again. Both men were polite and professional.
Again, call this company! They were on time and it did not take long for them to fix my sewer. Their equipment was clean and looked new. They were both clean and looked genuinely happy working for Mr. Rooter, what else can you ask for?

These guys were awesome!
My toilet backed up into my shower and having previously dealt with plumbers on weekends I was loath to call anyone due to having to wait hours and pay huge callout rates but I had to do something. After reading Unilocal reviews I decide to try Mr. Rooter. Imagine my delight to find out that they don’t have *weekend* rates and that they could have someone over within 90 minutes for a free estimate! But wait, it gets even better, the plumber called 15 minutes later and said he could be there in just 15 minutes. He found the problem and explained everything to me clearly and walked me through the video scoping of my sewer line.
Mr. Rooter was really great, helpful, and affordable. Heads and shoulders above any other plumber I’ve dealt with.

We had a water leak in our ceiling and did our research online to see which company would be the most reliable based on other customer reviews on various websites. After calling more than five different plumbing services we decided to go with Mr. Rooter and we are so glad that we did! First off, they do not charge for coming out and giving an estimate for damages and repairs (that already saves $ 200). Alexis, the operator, was very reassuring and mentioned that although they are fully booked and can’t come until the following day, that they would call in the event that there were any cancellations. So accommodating!
Our initial appointment was around 1pm, but the next morning we get a phone call at 0800 saying that there was a technician on the way. We were so relieved considering we didn’t have any water for more than 24 hours. The technician that came out was awesome! Eric C. was informative and professional, making sure to keep us in the loop and made the effort to answer any questions or concerns. We had another issue with our water heater and as soon as he was done with the leak in the ceiling he was more than happy to move on to our other plumbing problems. He gave us such reasonable pricing and his sincerity and honesty was so transparent when it came down to «necessary» vs. the «you should probably do this» jobs.
I know that if we ever had another issue with our plumbing system that Mr. Rooter was the company to call and Eric C. is the technician you want.

My first time ever having a clogged drain and called a few places but decided to go with mr. rooter plumbing. No charge to come out and give me a quote and since I didn’t know what to expect I decided that would be the best bet. They were able to get Javier to come out the same day, he explained what was wrong and he was in and out before dinner time. Great service, price and warranty!

The ol’ kitchen sink clog the day before Thanksgiving. Luckily for us, Javier at Mr. Rooter came out and got us up and flowing before the marathon of holiday dish-​cleaning. Javier was friendly, helpful, and informative. Not only did he clear out the clog in our old cast iron pipes, but he walked me through a couple of informative tips about the plumbing in my house, for which I’m grateful. The only reason I’m giving a 4-​star is because I technically called Mr. Rooter last night (they said they operated 24⁄7), but the technician couldn’t come until the following afternoon. I’d definitely use these guys again.

Had multiple issues at my 1950s era house due to old plumbing yesterday. JAY came out within 2 hours of me calling and diagnosed both issues quickly. He went above and beyond spending almost 3 hours fixing both issues AND explaining to me in NOM plumber terms exactly what was wrong and how to prevent it in the future. I was most impressed with his knowledge and pride in the work he was doing. Highly recommended! Thanks Jay!

Very pleased. I got quick service and Javier has been working non stop to get me up and running again. He has kept me updated on everything.
