Quick Smog

These guys are probably the most honest guys in the business!
Went to this place yesterday on the FLY after the smog place I was going to go to closed early with no notice! Nicest guys ever! They have later hours so if you actually have a JOB you can get your smog done during the week! Price was more than fair, and I wish I would have thought to go to them sooner (they were a recommendation by a friend)…

It was… awkward. Hey, I’m not saying your 15 min smog check experience is a terribly important life decision. I’m just saying that I walked into the shop, to whole staff taking up all of the customer couch seating eating Asian food and no one acknowledged me for a while (too long), making me think they were customers. As I was looking around for someone to help me, one of the guys who I assume was the owner started asking me short questions about what I wanted… never looking up from shoveling egg rolls into his face. They were pretty short with me which made me feel like they felt it was unacceptable that I was there at 11:30…which appeared to be their lunch time. Anyways, I got the check done and it didn’t take too long, not that it’s rocket science. These places are a dime a dozen so the only way to set yourself apart is customer service, which they didn’t exactly hit out of the park. Just my experience that day… I guess don’t come during lunch! I won’t be back.

I always come here to get my smog done. They are open on Sundays, which is very convenient for those who have a busy work week. They charge $ 50 out the door, but if you mention their coupon online they will give you a five dollar discount. You don’t need to print out, just mention it to them. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. When smog is up next time, I will be there again.

This place is awesome! The two guys running the place are really nice and I never feel like I’m being ripped off. The smog check only took 15 minutes (there was a car before me) and I was out of there. They also do not charge unless your car passes!

Guys are good. A little abstract however, friendly, informative & super helpful.

Just like the name says, this place is quick! Dropped the car, walked across the street to get a smoothie in the parking lot across and came back to a smog-​checked car. They have a pass or don’t pay policy so that’s also a good thing if you’re worried about your car.

I went in to get a quick smog check. I must say they were the fastest I had ever experienced. I think I was in and out in under 10 minutes, no joke. I brought the $ 5 off coupon and my final bill was $ 44.95.
The reason for the 3 star is the condition of the establishment. I don’t think I have ever in my entire life seen or smelled a more disgusting, filthy, odor-​filled business. ½ garage or not. I was truly disgusted. Everything was completely filthy. When I stepped into the office to pay my bill I honestly smelled feces.
If you go to this place to get your smog done, park your car, and step away out onto the sidewalk. It shouldn’t be long. Do not go inside.
I may return someday, just because of the incredible speed. But I won’t enjoy the experience.

Great! The first time I came in, my battery was messed up so they didn’t get a good reading. So they didn’t charge me. The next time I came in it was quick and efficient. Good service!

I’ve had the pleasure of living behind this smog shop for 2 years and these guys are hands down the most trustworthy/​honest individuals in the business. They take the time to explain problems wrong with your car in terms that us individuals who aren’t car savvy can understand. They are so patient and kind and I can’t thank them enough for all the help they have given me! I’m so appreciative. Thanks to both Mikes for everything! You guys are amazing.

David is awesome. I have come here several times and he has always been nothing but helpful, friendly, and patient. His shop has character and his service is great.

Fantastic quick and friendly service in an authentic «car-​guy» shop.
Very helpful, California-​surfer-​dude-​native attendant quickly got me through the 15 minute process of the smog inspection. Basically, as long as you have a modern car + no engine warning lights + no recent battery disconnects, you will be good to go. $ 40 for the 15 min check (price was in line with other places) and very prompt service. at checkout, the dude even prompted me $ 5 off, saying «you saw our internet coupon right»? which bascially just gave me $ 5 off. Sure they do it for everyone (which is smart on their part given all the nice Unilocal reviews), but I appreciated it and thus, highly recommend.
If coming from west (the beach) you turn right just before the martial arts studio. just drive slow and you will see their smallish sign that says «california smog check». its a single-​car width pull in so is easy to miss. if you miss it, just turn right and circle the block, NBD.

Just got my smog test done. I was in and out of there in less than 15 minutes and it was cheaper than the other places I called for a quote. What else can you ask for?

These guys were great — so helpful,
First of all I got there quite late — about half an hour before closing, 6.30 on a Saturday evening.
Then, when I mentioned that I’d had to jump the car, he immediately told me it wouldnt pass the test as lots of sensors re-​set when the battery goes so you need to drive it for 50 miles /​a few days to get everything up and running again. He suggested I drive it tomorrow and come back Monday.
I told him we weren’t able to do it the next day as it was my son’s birthday and we were taking him to Legoland, then we were flying back to the Bay Area. So it was now or never — plus the DMV tags needed renewing which meant we needed the test done. Right away — he told me about a route I could drive which would probably get the sensors back on and that I could probably complete in about 20 mins. I don’t know the area well so I got a bit lost — so I didn’t get back to the shop until 6.57.
They were totally cool with that and had been waiting — they did the test for me, stayed late for me and were helpful with ideas of how to stop the battery dying again (its a car that isn’t used very often).

This place was great! In and out in under 20 minutes, the guy working was super friendly and funny, and I mentioned the coupon online and they gave me $ 5 off.

I called ahead at 10 on Saturday to see if they were busy and told them I had a 2013 TDI that needed to be smogged. I was told to head over. There was no one in front of me, smog only took 15 minutes. The guys are quirky but they have been smogging for years and know what they are about. The place looks junky and is a hole in the wall but def worth it for convenience. I would def go here again for a smog.

This place sucks! I’ll tell you why. I called on a Sunday for their hours. I drove all the way to PB just for the girl to tell me the machine is broken! She claims the machine can only work on 2000+ I’m sure if she’s thinking about obd2 it’s 96+! Wasted my time!
2 stars because she seemed nice and they don’t charge if you don’t pass!

Sadly I am now in the CA smog cycle. Since this was my first time I wasn’t sure what to expect but all in all a painless experience. I gave Quick Smog a call to see if I needed an appointment and if I needed to know anything beforehand. The gentleman who answered assured me I could just drop in and because my car was newer I didn’t need to have it running for any specific length of time beforehand.
I headed over the next night and kept missing the turn off Garnet. You are going to pull into the only car bay and the shop is back from the street and easy to miss. I arrived only 18min before closing and asked if I needed to come back tomorrow. They were super nice, said it was no problem and I was paid and out the door right at closing. The cost was $ 45 — not sure how that stacks up to competitors but it was quick as promised.

Yes, parking sucks here but they do have a small lot directly behind their building off the main road. We didn’t make an appointment, but the whole thing took only about 45 minutes. We walked around and checked out the stores nearby to pass the time. They are quick, informative, and reasonably priced. We were very pleased with their services & would certainly recommend this place to others!
