Rancho Bernardo Pet Hospital

I recently brought my dog here to see what the options were for her cherry eye. I’ve seen a few other vets but what made me stay was Dr. Stephen’s specialize technique and her hospitality. While other vets took less than 5 minutes with us to say yes, she needs surgery, Dr. Stephens patiently explained what she does in surgery, what the after effects will be, and her success rate, as well as answer all the questions I had. It was more costly than other places I’ve been to, but no one else used her technique which eliminates any chance of reoccurrence while still saving her tear production glad. My dog went through surgery like a champ and Dr. Stephens herself called a few times aftewards to check up on my dog. Friendly & accommodating staff, clean office, and great vet; can’t go wrong! So far so good! I had read all of the great reviews for this place when I was trying to choose a vet for my kitty. I was looking forward to working with Dr. Stephens after all of the positive feedback from other pet owners, but when there was an emergency with another animal, our kitty was seen by the back-​up vet, Dr. Hackman. She was very nice, and spent time with us to answer all of our questions. They were reasonable about what our kitty really needed, instead of being pushed to buy a lot of extra things. The vet tech was also nice, welcoming, and obviously loved animals. I feel confident that if something happens to our little one, then he will be in good hands here.

I was very pleased with all the staff here! I brought my older cat in for a routine check-​up, and I felt very comfortable. The doc spent a lot of time talking to me about caring for older cats. I felt she was very knowledgeable, but not pushy. Some vets are like car salesmen that want you to buy tests, meds, foods and supplements! She was friendly and honest. I would recommend them to anyone!

The staff and Dr. Stephens are the best. They helped us through the loss of our 17 yr old cat, and more recently our 10 yr. old bunny. They were very caring, informative, sympathetic, and even give hugs. They made all the reasonable arrangements for us. So sweet, and we are very appreciative.
They have great boarding services, rates, as well as grooming ! Will recommend them again and again to every pet lover I know !

Dr Steven deserves all the stars and good reviews she has.
she is pro, sweet and her diagnosis is always accurate. I really felt comfortable with her, she is not after your money she really here to help, she is an honest person. Even after the last visit, even after she get pay, she always keep track with your animal.
I definitely stay with her for anything regarding my pet.

Our dog Marley jumped off a playground that was more than 6feet high when playing with kids. I thought he had broke his leg but ended up tearing his ligaments off the bone of his left hind leg. He wasn’t able to put any weight on his leg or walk on it because it was completely detached. Friends of ours referred us to Dr. Stephens who takes care of their dog. This was on a Saturday and Dr. Stephens was able to see us the same day. When we got to the office the staff was extremely nice and Dr. Stephens examined Marley. What I really liked from the beginning of our experience with Dr. Stephens is that she explained everything in detail. She wrote out each step and options to take in the plan of treatment for Marley based off of Marley not being able to bear any weight and use his leg. She gave us her professional opinion and did not pressure us or try to sell us into doing or paying for anything. This was a big plus for me in care because I have been to a few veterinarian offices where they are so quick to charge you for anything and everything even if it’s not going to benefit the well being of your pet. After the X-​ray it was clear that there was no way of fixing/​healing without surgery. Dr. Stephens is very honest and professional and I was comfortable with her treating and taking care of our dog, that is part of our family and means so much to us.
This all happened back in November, 2014 and his surgery (new knee-​cap) was days before Thanksgiving. Dr. Stephens and staff took care of Marley while we had to be out of town for 4 days. I received updates with his care and how he was doing daily which really put me as ease. Dr. Stephens went over the importance of rehabilitation and diet for Marley in order to have the best outcome of his surgery and literally after a few weeks of his surgery he was able to walk on it! I honestly couldn’t believe it and was worried he wouldn’t ever be able to walk again or would walk with a limp even with surgery. 6 months post-​surgery and Marley is able to run, and hike and do the things he used to do with us daily. Marley is only 6 years old and has a lot of youth in him still. Because of Dr. Stephens and her staff he is able to continue being the adventurous pup that he is (with the exception of no more playgrounds or anything high to jump off of again). Throughout this entire process Dr. Stephens has been the best.
We also had a lumpy on his chest removed (which went well!, and his anal glands expressed and bathing done here. =)
If you’re looking for an honest and caring Vet I highly recommend Dr. Stephens! Oh and I also would like to say their prices are very reasonable. We live in Carlsbad and are willing to drive out to Rancho Bernardo because we trust Dr. Stephens and staff in providing the best quality care for our fur baby. =)
There’s yummy pizza spot next door, a Rubios, and a juice spot. There’s also a cute little park in walking distance where you can sit and relax while your pet is being seen. =)

Very happy with their services, good hours and they have a discounted vaccination clinic on Saturdays.

I have two Pomeranian’s that are like my babies. I have found the the people to be extremely friendly and helpful. The Dr’s are caring and gentle and explain everything in detail. I think they are the best.

My dog loves the staff. I board, groom and have Max’s vaccines/​medications administered here, and only have good words. I think it’s very affordable too, and I like the location as it is right next to some good eateries, Robek’s Juice, and a hop onto the highway.

Dr. Stephens and the staff at Rancho Bernardo Pet Hospital saved the life of my baby boy Floyd. He is a 15 year old cat and myself and my 13 year old daughter and 9 year old son just love him to pieces.
Dr. Stephens took the time to help me and my fiancée determine the most important tests with the super limited budget I had; and she found the cause of his infirmity. She also provided us with very informed options on how to treat Floyd.
All the office staff was AMAZING, Alex, Sylvia and Rebecca were SUPER HELPFUL. I am just truly grateful that they helped me save my baby (not so baby… geriatric boy). He is gonna have a full long life ahead of him and RBPH and Dr. Stephens will be my go-​to for all future treatment.

Super staff here at RB Pet Hospital. They waited for me to make it there late Friday evening toward closing time. Even though it was time for these folks to go home, they welcomed me with smiles and courtesy. Dr. Stephens took her time to explain the best plan of treatment, and kept our pet rabbit of 8 years overnight for observation. I felt much at ease with our pet staying the night at RBPH as they quickly gained my trust. The following day the Dr. called and explained in detail the treatment and health of our pet. When we picked up our pet, the Dr. Stephens once again set with us and explained further treatment, medications, diet, and routine care for our pet. It was terrible to fing our pet suffering after work, but the people here at RBPH gave me an awesome experience. Thank you for caring and understanding.

Love this vet!!! Doesnt try to over sell you on treatments and gives excellent care and followup. The office staff is very knowledgeable too. I have been very happy with them since leaving Companion Care Vet… I ask myself why didnt I go to them sooner?!!

Dr. Stephens & her staff are the best! They cared for my dog, as well as my 2 parrots. Received excellent care & attention with each visit. Highly recommend this practice!

These ladies in here are the nicest. My furry feline has a blocked bladder, basically, and this procedure was not in my very tight budget. But I love my kitty, so they were able to work with on getting him healed and better. Didn’t turn us away or anything. The doctor explained everything about what was happening with him and the front office staff-​Alex, Amber, the office manager, everyone are so nice! I would recommend them to anyone who wants loving care for the pet.

Just got my first dog! Susie! I brought her into the Rancho Bernardo Pet Hospital and they have been very nice and understanding as I had a million questions. Susie had an ear infection which they straighten out. Thank you to Alex and Amber who are great! Thanks!

I was very happy when i took my kitty to get his exam, vaccines and neuter done. The prices were competitive and the doctor was awesome! I would recommend everybody to go there with Dr. Stephens and staff.

I brought my sick rat in to the Rancho Bernardo Pet Hospital and we received a great checkup for her. She’s an old rat at around 3 years old, and she has multiple problems with her health (most prominently a massive tumor, which all rats seem to get when they reach old age,) but after a weeks worth of meds she is already showing a major improvement. While I don’t imagine she has a lot of time left, the little time she does have left she is now spending happily, without labored breathing.

I LOVED my visit to RB Pet Hospital. They were friendly, helpful and it was the first time I’ve been to a vet and didn’t get the horrible product upsell that most vets do. I also feel like Dr. Stephens understands the entire family instead of just the one animal. She is sweet, patient and has a wonderful holistic approach to veterinarian practice.

Brought my pet in for a check up. Was expecting Dr. Stephens but instead got Dr. Nguyen. He was very shy and seemed uncomfortable. Not sure of his tenure but came off like a rookie or maybe new. After the appt I did not receive any paperwork detailing the diagnosis like how dr Stephens always provides. When he called to tell me the bloodwork results he also didn’t mention anything about bringing him back him to perform surgery. How do you miss that info?
I’m very disappointed in the lack of detail and attention. I feel like I just wasted $ 200.
