Residence Inn San Diego Sorrento Mesa/Sorrento Valley

Fantastic! Went there to escape and work on my dissertation. It was the perfect room, and patio area to work was awesome. It’s also close by to several dinning options.

I love the ambiance of this Residence Inn. The receptionist was so friendly and welcoming when we check in. He was polite and courteous while tellinf us about this place. Aside from the good staff, they have a 24hour gym, a spacious pool and a place where you can talk with your friends or family. The room we were into was clean and elegant. They got everything you need. The neighborhood was also peaceful. I love this place and I would definitely recommend it.

Very friendly staff. Room is a little dated and not as it used to be. Would be good to refresh some of the rooms. Good breakfast and did I mention friendly staff?.upgraded to two room when checking in… thank you. We will be back.

This is a first class establishment. I called from Austin, TX to ask questions prior to booking and the woman who answered the phone took so much time to answer my questions that I just booked the 2 rooms we needed with them. When we arrived after a very long and exhausting day the same voice/​accent greeted me warmly and said, we finally meet! She said she had a surprise for me. They upgraded us to two 2 bedroom suites! She knew we had 4 children and thought this would be helpful. SO SO KIND.
There’s free parking, free wifi, free breakfast and it’s clean and the people are wonderful. What more could you ask for?!

Before we checked in we asked if this hotel was pet friendly. The Marriott operator informed us they were indeed pet friendly so we booked 2 rooms. When checking in it was confirmed this was a pet friendly. However when we took our dog for a walk the front desk person told us we would have to pay a 100.00 non refundable deposit. Which was more than the room. We told her we would not pay 100.00 and would leave, she brought the deposit to 50.00 non refundable. Again we said the most we have ever paid for a pet is 10.00 and we would cancel both reservations and go elsewhere. She said she would have to talk to her manager in the morning and would charge our room whatever the manager decided. After we returned to our room to decide what to do, she called and said just this one time she would not charge us anything. I would not recommend this place for anyone with pets. Even in an emergency. Go to La Quinta or Drury.

Such a great hotel! The receptionist was very friendly and helped us out and upgraded our room. Complementary breakfast buffet every morning. We will definitely come back!

This place is not shabby at all! I actually really enjoyed staying at this Residence Inn. It is a bit further from the city but is located not too far off of the freeway. The rooms are clean, spacious, and the staff is friendly. They even serve breakfast here in the mornings from 7am to 9:30am if I remember correctly. This location has a decent sized gym, a pool, Jacuzzi, and small tennis court. Throughout the day you could see that this location really catered to families as they were out there BBQing, swimming, or partaking in other group activities. The biggest highlight for me was the breakfast. They actually had a really good selection for breakfast!
Some of the breakfast items they have are different types of juices (in a dispenser), sausage, scrambled eggs, potatoes, a waffle maker for waffles, milk, cereal, different pastries, and even oatmeal.
I would recommend this place to anyone that is looking for a two bedroom suite or just a «larger» hotel room that feels like home. The stove and fridge in the room are definitely a huge plus!

The place was great, room was clean. & breakfast was awesome.
When we got back home, we looked over what was charged on my card and unfortunately got charged twice. When I called back and spoke to a staff named JAMAR… He was totally rude, made me feel stupid and was not helpful at all. I will never again come back to this place or any other residence in!
That staff should not be working in customer service. And Marriott should not hire people like that representing their company!

Had a good nights rest. Easy magnetic wave over locks, not the slide your card in ones that randomly work sometimes. Clean, smoke free, continental breakfast has RICE??? What!?! That’s awesome, if your azn. You probably don’t care as much if ur not: p.

I’m giving this a 4 star instead of 5 because the hotel is in need of a renovation other then that it’s great. Even tho it’s ready for an renovation and I feel like it’s old, it’s really kept nice. I’m glad I chose this hotel for my week here in San Diego. Will return if I’m in the area.

Stayed her for my son’s soccer tournament. Had such a nice relaxing stay, room was clean and so peaceful and relaxing. Enjoyed the swimming pool with my kids. Always many choices for breakfast and free Wifi. The best part it was located less than 10 mins from the park where my son played. The people at the front dest we very nice and helpful. So many restaurants and store located not to far from the hotel. Would stay here again.

Stayed here for 36 consecutive nights while our house was having construction done on it. We debated between staying here, at the RI in La Jolla, or the one in Carlsbad. We’re so happy we chose this hotel!
The good:
— pet friendly! We were able to bring out two little dogs with us. Saw 3 other dogs during our month here. They even give you a doggy gift box when you check in. Love it!
— bed is very comfortable (so much better than the very firm/​hurt your back bed at the Carlsbad RI)
— very friendly staff
— Good sized room for two people (bedroom, bath, living room, kitchenette, desk, small table)
— Pretty good breakfast. Coffee/​Tea/​Drinks are offered all day.
— Beautiful fireplace by the pool and relaxing outdoor lounge!
Things to be aware of:
— there are a lot of international business travelers staying here. Mainly from Asia and India. They’re not the friendliest. They don’t make eye contact. They hated my very friendly tiny dogs. They smoke outside a lot. And it’s not unusual to see them in the gym on the elliptical, wearing jeans, at 3am.
— the toilet paper sucks. Drive up Mira Mesa Blvd 2 miles and buy some decent TP at Target.
— while you’re at Target also pick up some air freshener. As other reviewers have mentioned, there can be a weird smell. Combine international travelers, a kitchen, and cooking and you get some very funky odors saturating the air.
— we brought extra blankets with us for the bed and are very glad we did!
— light in the room go off after an hour. They’re trying to save energy but it’s little annoying.
— AC is funky. It’s loud & after being here a month we know that the temperature it says on the thermostat is NOT the temperature that it is in the room.

We were extremely disappointed in our stay there last week.
We were booked for 6 days to spend time with our son who was graduating from UCSD. We never got room service until our third day of stay (Room#205)! The Housekeeping staff gave some lame excuse about seeing a privacy sign. We were sure none of us put any such door signs.
This is the worst Marriott’s hotel I have stayed in in all my travels, business or otherwise.

Bonus points for: free parking, two separate rooms, two bathrooms, and complimentary breakfast buffet every morning.
My friends and I stayed here for our weekend trip. It was a wonderful room with two separate bathrooms and bedrooms, full fridge kitchen, stove, the works! It was nice because we were traveling with a baby.
Everything in the building is accessible with a room key. Really nice touch and added security Parking is ample and close to the entrances. On top of that, it’s free! Hard to come by at hotels nowadays.
They have a pool, hot tub and basketball/​tennis court. Pool wasn’t heated but temperature was ok. The hot tub was nice and warm, but overdone with chlorine. The smell was too much!
We took advantage of the complimentary breakfast buffet every morning! It was something a little different each day which was nice. Comes with juice, coffee, cereal, toast, bagels, eggs, etc, etc.
Enjoyed my stay and would love to come back here when I visit again.

Quiet Residence Inn that could probably be annexed by the Qualcomm campus. You’re well within walking distance to most Qualcomm builds I would guess. Rooms were clean, quiet, and well-​kept. The staff was quick and friendly.

The hotel room was really nice and everything was clean. The service was great when we checked in and they were constantly bringing out food to keep the breakfast bar stocked.

Here’s the deal, my husband and 2 children stayed here for 6 days.
The first 2 days were great!
Rooms and carpet were clean, staff was friendly and housekeeping kept the room spectacular.
Starting the third day everything went downhill FAST.
After spending the whole day outside we expect to come back to a clean room by 4:00 (typically rooms are cleaned before 2 – 3) well not here, one day housekeeping didn’t come until around 5:00 because they were «busy» and obviously understaffed. Considering the parking lot was full we understood the housekeeping being late, although we came back to our room around 8:00 and housekeeping came, they left 2 bath towels (one from the day before) 2 was clothes and 1 hand towel… For a two bedroom suite sleeping 4 people. Housekeeping did NOT VACUUM for 2 days, left coffee in pot and grounds in machine for 3 days. Mirrors looked like they were wiped with a dirty towel or not wiped at all. Bed linens were not changed daily, (card is left in room to be left on bed for linens to be kept in conservation for water) this card had never been left out, because of the children and dogs running around the room, linens and towels need to be changed daily. Not to mention, one day the towels did not smell fresh (I could’ve sworn housekeeping ran out of towels and threw floor towels into the dryer and refilled then for the rooms, one towel smelled clean, and a few others smelled like someone was laying out in the sun (burned skin smell))
The last night staying here we get back from dinner and head straight to the hot tub where my family was in and out, literally because the chlorine was soo strong you could smell it when you exited the building.
High chlorine levels are need in pools with lots of families because of the children who are taught it’s okay to pee in the pool. (during the visit here a 3yo girl tells her dad, «mommy says I can go pee in the pool» the father knew I heard, and took the children I raise for the bathroom)
Front desk wasn’t too intent on making. Sure housekeeping did their job, as the room was not up to standards (this is obvious to gold-​former platinum members. I say former platinum members because Marriott is continuing to have service issues, and the staff is becoming almost entirely non English speaking, which isn’t a huge deal, but when the front desk doesn’t handle issues with housekeeping and you are left to that, obviously problems will arise.

MYSTERIOUS SMELL!
We stayed here on Thursday night and called to make sure they would not book our room since we would be arriving late. Aside from the phone ringing a dozen times or more before an associate picked up the person that answered was nice. Our issue with this place has been mentioned in previous reviews and it has to do with the «mysterious smell» which is repulsive! Whatever it is I woke up with a sore throat which was inconvenient since I had to do very major presentation while I was in San Diego. The staff associates here are pleasant but the place needs to be leveled and redone from scratch. Smells like some things died in the walls. Horrid!

This Residence Inn is located at the end of a Cul De Sac, on a hill, way tucked away, in an industrial area, across from some Qualcomm offices. Really odd location. Parking is abundant here. I chose this Residence Inn because they were one of the few Residence Inns that had 2 bedrooms. 2 freaking bedrooms in a hotel and to boot, 2 bathrooms.
I don’t know about you, I never stayed in any hotel that had 2 bathrooms. You know most of the time, we all stash our overnight bag on the counter and plug away your shaver, hair dryer, all that stuff in the bathroom. Now with 2 bathrooms, it’s like you don’t even think about it. Even the bathroom itself, it is abnormally big. I believe the total size is 750 sq. feet.
Now this place has TV galore. Our room had 3 TVs, one in each room including the living room. If you go downstairs, there are these study room pods and there are 2 rooms, each with their own TV. Of course for breakfast, there was a TV there as well.
So if you like to watch TV in an oversized room, this could be the place for you.
Oh, there’s 2 wings to this hotel. Since we had a 2 bedroom, we were not in the main wing where the breakfast and the check in was. There was a basketball/​tennis court which we didn’t use.
Breakfast is narrow here. They served rice for some reason because I don’t know why, I was looking for either miso soup or some kind of stir fry to go along with it. Instead I just had eggs and hot sauce to pair up. Starts at 7am on weekends.
I was able to get this place for around $ 200 after AAA discount. It was a fair price for the area.
BTW, this place is really close to Green Flash
but not a lot of good eats near by. So make sure you eat up a little bit prior to getting some booze.

Pretty standard and decent Residence Inn. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Free weekday dinners and breakfast is standard and very nice and generous; thank you. Free parking is abundant, and the location is well maintained. Big fan of this hotel chain.
On the negative side, I found the locations difficult and surrounded by confusing streets and long traffic signals which are on timers verses sensors. Not really their fault, but this location is pretty inconvenient as it is a bit off the highway and far from pretty much anything. Also, the staff at the front desk was totally clueless when it came to giving directions to their location; they also, as mentioned by other reviewers, do not sit at the front desk and it took the gal working the Wednesday Night Shift (with a first name matching a country) at least 5 minutes to assist me at 930PM and I was alone standing there, no bell, nothing. Additionally, while I am on the reasons I am going 4-​stars instead of 5-​stars, they should place some doggy bag dispensers around the location as traveling dog walkers sometimes need a reminder to clean up after their dogs; stay on the path to avoid dog bombs in the grass.
