San Diego Van & Storage

Worst service ever! They tell me my order will be delivered between 10 – 2. So I reschedule my work schedule to work at 4 instead of my normal time. They say you will receive a call 30 mins before delivery. 1:55 comes and no call. So I decide to call the customer service line and they say oh the drive is running about an hour to an hour and a half late. Great! Thanks for telling me. So I call and tell my job I will be in around 4:30 instead. 3:15 and no call or update so I call again and now they say oh the driver is 30 minutes away. It’s now 3:50 and you guessed it no call and no delivery. I guess I should just call in to work since no one knows what time my order will be delivered. This place sucks! DO NOT USE THIS PLACE

I ordered from
in late June and received an email from them on July 10 stating my item had arrived at their local delivery partner and was being prepared for final delivery. They said to expect an email (from San Diego Van & Storage) within 1 business day confirming my scheduled delivery date. When I still hadn’t heard from them 10 days later, I called the phone number provided in the email and was directed to voice mail. I left a message for Alisha and included the tracking number and my phone number. That was yesterday morning. Still no call back, no email either. So, I contacted Wayfair and chatted with Matthew who apologized and attempted to call San Diego Van & Storage while I waited, but they were «unable» to take his call. Matthew sent an urgent message to the freight team requesting more information and apologized again. He said to expect to hear back either later today or by tomorrow at the very latest. Obviously, the matter is still unresolved.
I was curious, so I looked up San Diego Van & Storage and found similar experiences to mine here on Unilocal and decided to add my own review.
I should add that I’ve ordered several other items (not as large as this one) from Wayfair, that were not handled by San Diego Van & Storage, and they were delivered in a timely manner with no issues at all. So, although this is not really Wayfair’s fault, they do need to find a different delivery agent for San Diego.

. If only I had known prior to my order from this website. San Diego Van and Storage has provided me with by far the worst customer service experience possible as far as scheduling a delivery. I order items online all the time and realize that sometimes unforeseen things delay deliveries. This goes way beyond that.
I get an email from AllModern saying that I will be contacted within 1 business day to schedule a delivery. OK great, I can hardly wait to get my new beautiful dining room table in time for July 4^th weekend. Ummmm no that is clearly no going to happen. So a couple days go by and I still haven’t been contacted so I call and leave a message for Alicia, no biggie. The weekend passes by and still nothing. No biggie, I know that the weekend doesn’t count. I leave another message and still my calls aren’t returned even after a week and a half after I got the original email. I contact AllModern to see what is going on. They say Oh gosh they should have called you by now. Well Then I get another email from AllModern saying that my delivery is scheduled for the following Monday (that is news to me). So FINALLY Alicia calls me at which point she says sorry that they are soooo far beghind. I tell her that she could have returned my calls at least to let me know that they were so far behind as I would have totally understood that. Her response to that was «Oh well if I called everyone for that I would be on the phone all day because we are so far behind». Wow if I were reading this I would seriously avoid this company at all cost! Seriously.

Same thing happened to me when odered from
. My furniture was supposed to be delivered today between 2 and 6… with the driver giving me 30 minutes notice. No call and still no delivery and it’s now 630. This furniture is for my son’s first bday party on the 4^th of July. If I don’t get my furniture tomorrow there will be serious problems. I have half a mind to go there tomorrow and get it myself. It has been sitting in their warehouse for 2 weeks… don’t they know I can track it? Also Alicia lied to my wife on the phone saying she called me. I am furious.

WARNING. Do not order anything from
as this is the only company that delivers their furniture in San Diego. I have experienced the worst customer service, worst delivery people literally throwing my couches by my stairs, and the worst communication. I will never use Wayfair nor any company that uses this company for delivery again.

Great customer service from Alisha. I called the day prior to change my delivery date. Alisha was very helpful and was able to change my delivery date to a more convenient day for me.

We just moved to San Diego from San Francisco, using a Mayflower contractor from there. When we arrived, the contractor suggested calling SD Van & Storage to ask if they would consider taking our moving boxes away for us. I contacted Mike, the operations manager and he sent someone by the same day to take all of our boxes, plus some wrapping materials we had left over.
Totally awesome service and I won’t hesitate to call them again when we need moving or storage help. Thanks, guys!

Crooks!
A very very dishonest bunch! They also broke many things, some very valuable.

We contracted with United Van Lines for a move from Boston, MA to Las Vegas, NV. The team in Boston was impeccable: courteous, professional, fast, efficient and very attentive to every single item. We were unbelievably happy with the care they took with our items. We tipped well, bought them breakfast and couldn’t stop thanking them.
Cut to a week later, where the San Diego-​based Mayflower crew takes over, and it’s a whole different story. They are an hour and a half late, claiming they got lost ON THE STREET WE LIVE ON with a GPS. Dozens of crushed and upside down boxes, including those marked fragile. Boxes completely ripped open or shredded down the side. A large tear in our leather couch, and a forged slip that claims it was already there. And a dresser that is so broken they had to leave it shrink wrapped for fear it would collapse.
What’s worse is that they were beyond rude. Every time I noticed something broken, they immediately said «Not our fault. Came out of the warehouse like that.» One, what warehouse? It should have stayed on the truck! Two, act like an adult and take responsibility.
Even after all that, I tipped them, because while I thought they showed little respect or care, I know they did some heavy lifting. They did not say thank you or seem appreciative in any way.
Do not use these movers, and if you contract with United Van Lines, I’d request they not use this team. United Van Lines, if you’re reading, you should not allow these people to be a part of your network.

Ours was a large (and expensive) move: the entire contents of our dad’s 5 bedroom San Diego home moved up to the SF Bay Area. We contracted with SD Van & Storage, and they subcontracted the job to Macy Movers (this review appears under Macy Movers as well). The paperwork for the move was a half inch thick. There were several extra charges sprung on us at the last minute: $ 450 for a van because the road was too twisty for the truck; two extra guys because «there’s more stuff here than we thought»;additional charges to package the art work and mirrors, extra charge for wooden crates to pack the marble tops of some dressers. These extras could have been anticipated if the guy who did the estimate had bothered to come look at the house before the move, but he said that «wasn’t necessary». At the end of the day, one french marble dresser tops they «crated» was delivered broken in two (est. replacement: $ 1,916.00), 2 wooden shelves of a custon shelving unit were never seen again, and three pieces of framed original artwork are simply gone. Compensation for our losses: $ 60.00. LET THIS BE A WARNING: the contract limits the moving company’s liability to 60 cents a pound. If I had it to do again, I would purchase additional insurance (if such a thing exists) and I would assign one friend or family member to watch each mover pack, label and unpack. It’s too easy to miss things in the chaos of moving, and counting the items as they are delivered and crossing them off a list is very difficult when there are over 350 items to cross check. I did give the company one star because the guys who did the heavy lifting were pleasant and hard working. I choose to believe that the missing items were lost or misdelivered, not stolen, but I may never know and the replacement check was painfully inadequate.
