San Diego Yard Care

I thought I was going to write how wonderful they were, which was true until the last payment cleared, and then they dissapeared and became a ZERO star company.
The beginning was a great experience, they came quickly to give us a fair estimate to landscape/​hardscape our backyard and frontyard, including fencing replacement, coinciding with our pool construction. they worked around the pool crew and even helped cleared out some of the debris (although we paid for it).
The issue started once we gave the last payment. We called them to ask them to fix some sprinkler issues in the backyard as well as to even out the metal fence posts in the back. they initially said they would send someone to take care of it, but after three weeks we haven’t seen or heard from them.
So unless, they fix your items before the last check. I wouldnt hire them again.

Hired these guys to do some landscaping at my property and I was very pleased. I was looking for new sod installation and a more drought tolerant plant selection. They drew up a quick landscape design and ripped out my old sod, cut my gas area in half, and replaced it with stones, succulents, and native San Diego plants. They also changed my sprinkler system around and converted the planters to drip irrigation. It’s my 3^rd month and I already have a significantly lower water bill. I have referred this landscaping company to a few of my neighbors who have been walking by and complementing my new lawn. Thanks for the great job guys…

Contracted for bi-​monthly yard maintenance and the work these folks did for a while was ok, but they stopped showing up. No answer to phone calls or e-​mails for many months. Then I was suddenly surprised one day by a return phone call ensuring me that everything would be resolved and the maintenance resumed … except nothing happened and after a couple more months of no-​shows on the yard maintenance, i had to move on. The property was left looking like a jungle; it felt like I needed a machete to walk around outside.

I spoke with this company, got a quote and confirmed a time they would meet me to begin work. All seemed well and I was very excited to get my back yard done. Not only did they no-​show last week, but haven’t returned any of the calls I left them! What amazingly poor customer service. I called John’s Quality Gardening in Spring Valley, as he was highly rated on Unilocal,and he came right out to give me a quote and do the work. Problem solved! Customer lost!

I decided to be more water friendly this year and finally got around to call a few companies for quotes for dessert like landscaping. San Diego yard care was recommended to me by my dad who used them before. It was easy to set up a time for someone to come out. They were prompt and gave me a very competitive rate.
I had beautiful succulents and rocks put in all around the front yard and pavers instAlled in the back yard. They dug up all my grass and finished the job in only a few days. The crew were always polite and I ended up talking to them about some work I needed inside my house. I guess they do flooring also! They ended up installing hardwood floors in my bonus room that look amazing. Nothing but amazing things to say about this company

I used SD yard care for a couple of months and cancelled the service because I felt for the high price I was paying the yard work that was being done was quite poor. They were coming two times a month and doing minimal trimming, leaving trees that were under 10ft tall overgrown (over ten feet is when I was told they would trim only for a higher price), therefor, I cancelled my service with them.
Out of desperation and not having a new gardener yet, I called them to renew service for a few months while I was trying to sell my home. I was told they would come in the next two weeks on a Friday. When no one showed up on the second Friday I called them at 11am that morning. Shockingly, someone actually answered the phone and stated they would call me right back to let me know if someone could still come that day or the next day before my open house. I waited until 3pm for a call back and did not receive one. I have since called and left three messages over the past 5 days with still no response from anyone.
Long story short, poor landscaping and even worse customer service, you’re better off doing yard work yourself rather than attempting to get help from SD yard care.

I hired this landscaping company to prepare my backyard for my daughter’s high school graduation party. I was very disappointed in the services they offered. I had requested several container gardens to be added as well as maintenance work on the lawn. The container gardens constructed for the event were not properly completed so the plants themselves did not look healthy for the event. The lawn did look ok but not any nicer than when I do it myself. Overall I would not use this service again nor would I recommend it to anyone.

I used this landscaping service to add a retaining wall to my existing flower bed. The crew was excellent. The not only installed a beautiful feature to my property, but they also protected my existing flower beds and offered excellent advice on how to add texture to my garden. I had initially hired the crew for this project, but I am now a regular customer of theirs and I could not be happier with the service!

I was a client, however I have ended our time together because of lack of communication and they quit coming twice a month, as contracted. While they quit coming twice a month, they were charging me for twice a month. I reached out to solve the issue. I emailed 2x, called 2x and texted 1x. Not a single form of communication was returned. I am looking for a new gardner.

For a long time I had cut my own grass. I decided it was time to pay for a professional to work on my lawn. MY neighbors told me about a great and affordable service. I contacted them and set up an appointment for lawn work. On Saturday they arrived and took care of my grass and trimmed the hedges. I was very satisfied with the way everything looked. They even threw in a free gallon of weed killer. I had never seen my lawn looking so good, since the first few years of living in my house. I highly recommend this service to anyone looking for lawn work.

everthing above ground looks awesome but beneath all of the goodness, there lies the issues. SDYC left me with a non functional drip system, and installed the old sprinklers.
SDYC did come back to repair some issues that I had and I’m thankful for that but now another issue came up on the plumbing they installed. I found that there is a major leak underneath the concrete that they poored.
tried calling for two weeks without any replies to messages I left them. finally after two weeks they are coming to give me a quote for repairs. WHAT?! charge me for repairs that wasn’t done right in the first place? don’t use them. You’ve been warned.

After moving into our new home, we really needed help restoring our front lawn and back yard. We spoke with a few landscaping companies, and decided on San Diego Yard Care based on their Unilocal reviews. So far they have installed new sod and repaired our sprinkler and irrigation system. We are going one step at a time and they have been really helpful through the whole process. Cant wait to finish our landscape!

Apryl and I used this company to help us remove a tree that had fallen and damaged our fence. When the crew was out there clearing it up they offered us a quote for a new fence installation as well. We accepted and after the fence repair, we were impressed with their service and decided to use them to maintain our landscape. After having a few landscaping companies come and go, this is the easiest one we have dealt with and their service is great.
I highly recommend them!

Just add these guys to the list of San Diego companies that are either too busy or do not value good customer service.
I setup an appointment for today (Monday) at 1pm. They told me they would show up between 1pm and 2pm. I spent my lunch waiting on them to arrive only to be disappointed. I received a call 35 minutes after the hour window had expired telling me they were running behind and were now waiting at my house. If they were going to be late it would have been nice to receive a call within the pre-​scheduled window letting me know. If a company can’t hit a one hour window there are serious time management issues involved. Who has nearly 2hrs to wait for a lawn care company to show up?
Completely unacceptable.

As a new home owner, I received several bids to manage my front and back yard. The previous home owner was pretty bad at maintaining the irrigation system so I wasn’t only looking for someone to simply mow the lawn and make the yards look nice. I was looking for someone to fixed the problems that I inherited with my home purchase.
San Diego Yard Care came in with an honest price and a list of what was to be done. Everyone was professional and answered all of my questions before I felt that they were trustworthy. With that said, I gave them the green-​light to have several repairs made on the sprinkler system, some minor adjustments to the landscaping irrigation and we were good to go.
Now, in my 4^th month of service, I am happy with the results that San Diego Yard Care continues to provide. I never have to question what’s been done because both my front and back yards are well kept. Good job and a high recommendation!

These guys got serious yardgame.
I called them up to help my older brother out with his front yard. It’s actually a cool front yard with a stoop and seating area, but you would never know it since it has since been taken over by weeds, dead brush, leaves, and all sorts of other plants I dont even be knowing about. Lookin all green and suspicious.
Those plants be tryna start a war and take over my brothers turf. settrippin.
SD yard Care wasn’t havin it.
It looked like an entirely different yard when they were finished. real talk.
Now we have some lawn chairs out there and are able to socialize, and pretty much post up and hold down the stoop, people watch, and wait for weeds that are tryna creep deep.
Plant warfare aside, these guys did an amazing job. Communication was good, setting up the appointment was easy, and they delivered as promised. Can’t ask for much more than that!

My old landscaper kept coming at random days during the week when we had agreed to every other Tuesday… after a couple of frustrating situations I realized it was time for a change!!!
Not to mention we had communication issues aaaaaand the fact that he only wanted to get paid in cash! which was difficult to do because he basically never came according to schedule and Im never around to pay him! Been with SD yard care for 3 months now and haven’t had a single issue, they come every thursday to do the landscaping maintenance, and even pressure washing of our greasy driveway. I get emailed an invoice, and can easily write a check from my online banking & mail it to their office! No need to wait around the house anymore with cash in hand for someone to arrive!

Friend recommendation. My parents were in search of a reliable company that could check up on their properties and have them cleaned up every 2 weeks. I went to the website, filled out the contact form & within 20 minutes I received a phone call from one of their reps. They meet with my mother later that week, gave her an estimate & walked through the property to clarify the lanscaping that would be completed every 2 weeks.
Parents are more than satisfied not only with their yard work completed but very happy with the communication, not what you would expect from a typical landscape maintenance company. Definitely top of our list & look forward to using for future properties.

Wow! After trying to get in their books for weeks, they never showed. I had to take time off from work to accommodate their busy schedule, but they didn’t show.
I called them to see if they wanted to reschedule, and they said they can come any time of the day that evening. I said OK… They kind of apologized.
They never showed again. I assume they don’t want my business.

One of the homes I manage in Del Mar needed a fresh set of hands to handle the landscape maintenance. The previous company I was using had become complacent and wasn’t performing as expected. I heard about San Diego Yard Care through another property management friend who had great results so decided to give them a shot.
Wow! Talk about night and day. The owner personally came out to the property to make sure his crew knew exactly what needed to be done. They were both professional and punctual… two things that are becoming more difficult to find in businesses these days.
And as an update of sorts: They have been working the job for a little over two months and I have had zero issues and no complaints. My tenants even seem much happier with both the appearance of the landscaping as well as the employees. I’m currently looking to have them take over at a few other homes as well as an apartment complex where I need landscaping as well.
