Nurse practitioner Mattioli is a very nice woman. She seems like she has been looking at women’s genitalia for centuries. She knows everything! She is friendly, but still a bit distant. She could probably kick the friendliness up a notch, but then again, she is just taking the professional approach to medical care, which is fine for me. I felt comfortable asking random questions that normally I would be embarassed to ask.

Nancy is awesome. I’ve gone to her for about the last 5 years of paps/annual exams. She’s very down to earth, puts you at ease and you never feel rushed, that is, she will answer your questions & you get the feeling she’d stay all day chatting if you needed her to. She really listens and gives complete, direct answers without making you feel at all stupid or like you’re wasting her time(believe me, we’ve all seen THOSE kinds of doctors!). I really like her a lot. She makes getting a pap a really comfortable experience and she is very thorough and knowledgeable.

Why are you calling Nancy Mattioli a doctor? She is NOT a doctor. She is a nurse practitioner. The Doctor should have been performing the pap smear. Do you folks call all nurses, doctors now also? Physician assistants are assistants and not doctors either. Nurse practitioners and physician assistants are generally nicer than the real doctors. Nancy Mattioli is great and very nice as a nurse. But she is not an OB/GYN doctor. Don’t let them fool you.

I have to disagree wth the previous reviews. While pregnant with my 1st child I didn’t want the«hospital» experience i. e fetal monitoring, pitocin, epidural. I found midwives that practiced at the UCSD hospital a few blocks from my home. They were all wonderful & I was able to have the birth I wanted. Fast forward 4 months. I switched back to my primary physician so needed to find a gyno that was part of the Sharp Rees Stealy group. I called for an appt & took the 1st available which was Dr. Mattioli. She began by questioning me about my pregnancy & how much weight I gained. Apparently not enough for her liking. Really? I had a perfectly healthy baby 4 months earlier & why were we talking about this? I ate very well while pregnant & exercised but she tells me after not being involved in my pregnancy ATALL that I could have used a mid-morning protein shake. The funny thng was that I gained a little more than what her office suggests for women in ther care. But«for my height» I was«underweight». It was just a baffling experience. Find someone else who has some senstivity & isn’t looking to make you feel bad FORNOREASON. & I saw not a glimmer of a sense of humor. She must have been saving it for someone who ganed enough weight for her liking.

The other reviewers are spot on. Nancy Mattioli is an awesome health care practitioner. She really cares about her patients and is very thorough. I always feel that she really cares about me and I never feel rushed during my appointments. She is not in my area, I drive farther away just to see her.

I definitely agree with Anna. As a matter of fact, the reason I chose Dr. Mattioli as my OB/GYN is because of Anna. The doctor I had before her was absolutely TERRIBLE. She didn’t listen to any of my concerns, she somewhat blew me off. So I left her and met Dr. Mattioli. There’s nothing FUN or comfortable about your yearly PAPS but Dr. Mattioli put me at ease. She was funny, nice, and made me forget why I was there. I can’t believe I’m saying this but, I look forward to next years paps… well not really but Dr. Mattioli is the best!

She’s everything you want in a OB/Gyn. Fast, easy to talk to, and funny. I recommend her highly if she is in your area.
