Best place to rent a van/​car to drive across the border into Mexico. Jessica in the San Diego office was great. She eased all my concerns with driving into Mexico. They offer Mexico insurance for an extra cost. The van was clean and had all the safety amenities (seat belts, wipers, lights). Pricing was very fair and worked with us to ensure we had coverage in Mexico when we there. Office is close to the San Diego airport.

Monthly rental prices are very competitive. The business is very flexible and always willing to help out. The gents are very easy to work with. I rented from them for 5 months and I will be back.

I needed a cargo van to move some stuff from San Clemente to the ABF terminal in Mira Mesa and both Carlos and Ryan were extremely helpful and honest.
They asked for my insurance agent’s number and called him to ensure that they didn’t need to upsell me on insurance — this means a lot to me. Ryan even walked around the van marking and noting any dings; he told me if I wanted to take pictures, that they had to be taken at that moment to be valid. I took the pictures while we walked around and examined the van.
They had the best price for what I needed; the time I needed it and with the unlimited miles and space I needed.

I drove to Sun Diego on my Motorcycle and after I got the van, Ryan offered to store my Motorcycle in a secure place to ensure it didn’t get stolen while I had the van.

WOOHOO!!! My experience with Sun Diego Car Rental was top of the line. I rented a 15 person van for a trip from San Diego to Mammoth and my group was so happy with the van. Well, my only recommendation is that I’d prefer a teal colored van. ;)

Great experience working with office manager Ryan. Needed a 15 passenger van to go on a 14hr+ round trip, so it was a priority that we had a reliable, clean, newer van. We made these requests and Ryan stuck to his word and delivered a great van with no issues at all. The group was very happy with the whole process and vehicle.
Definitely do your homework when looking for van rentals! I was skeptical after calling so many places and it was last minute so was nervous to not find a reservation. Ryan assured me and was flexible with my needs/​requests/​concerns. He was understanding and loyal. We just booked with them again and are looking forward to receiving the same great service!

I had to use these guys to rent a van for a group trip up north. Even though it was last minute, the rep made sure we had a van waiting for us when we got there. I would definitely use again!

I had a great experience renting a dodge caravan. Since they close at 2pm on Sat, they left the van at the airport for me to pick up and it was very convenient and easy to find the van and pay $ 7 to get out of the airport parking. Upon returning the van, we didn’t have to unload or unbuckle. An employee simply hopped into the van within a couple minutes of us arriving at the rental office, which was just a few minutes outside the airport, and drove us to the airport to catch our flight. No having to wait for a shuttle or waiting in line to check the car in and out like we’ve always done before renting from the brand name companies. Everything went so smooth and quick with Sun Diego.
The weekly rental rate was also the best I found on the web and was 40% less than the brand-​name rental companies. I definitely recommend them. I did ask Jessica about some of the bad reviews on Unilocal and she said that the company has been in business for 20 yrs and that it was unfortunate that happy customers did not write reviews. It was an honest, reasonable answer and I’m glad I gave them a try.

Best place to rent a car or van!!! All of the vehicles here are very clean and well kept. The service is very professional and the staff is friendly. They are willing to answer any questions you may have as well as walk you through anything that is unclear. You can really tell that the staff know what they are talking about. If you’re looking for a rental company with credible staff, vehicles in great condition and reasonable prices than this is the place for you.

We rented at Miramar location. First We hired 7 passenger van for our trip to Seaworld. Here’s what happened, the guy name Carlos gave us the Kia Sedona, hmmm. the moment I saw the van I was skeptical about the condition. the van was 91k miles old, so what do you expect the condition of the van. Ok, The first time I started the engine, guess what? It WON’T start, tried 3 times still failed. I asked him if to change it to a different van but he said that was the «LAST» available for that day… WOW… not to mention the van got dents scratches holes… well anyways, I went out then I found out there is one more 7 seater van available which is I think newer than the Kia. Unfortunately, he told me that I need to hire that for 4 days… really? I told him whats the big deal if I will rent that for one day only. He said that van is 4days rental. Still he gave us that old Kia. Well, I guess the only pro is that the rent price was cheap, 52 $ for a day unlimited miles within San Diego/​LA but my overall experience was terrible. I suggest that you shop around first before going to this place. I gave only one star for the price, otherwise zero star. I guess that is the first and last that I will visit this place.

Rented from the Airport location. Great experience. Super friendly service. Was given clear directions on where to be picked up. Pick up was prompt and drop off was a breeze. Rented a minivan and prices were very reasonable. Was able to avoid high airport taxes by renting off site. Jessica was awesome to work with!!!

Can only rate my single experience renting three vans to go on a mission trip down the Baja. Sun diego had a decent price, not the best, but came recommended to us.
The vans all had more than 150 000 miles on them. All three only came with ¾ of a tank of gas. (nice little «policy» there). The vans had seats with springs broken, such that they were un-​usable (think sitting in a 5 gallon bucket). While not great, it was bad but tolerable, since we didn’t need 100% of the seats. Springs/​shots/​struts were what you’d think a van with 150k were like.
AC was always kind of marginal, but barely adequate. The killing blow to this review was when we had to wait more than 2 hours in 90 degree weather to cross the border. Temps in the vans soared to unbearable, people had to walk in traffic alongside the van because it was cooler outside as we inched to the border. It was unacceptable to put us into that situation when we were paying so much money for the vans.
Jessica was nice, responsive and generally helpful. She was decent to deal with, but the quality of the vehicles was just too poor for the money charged. I should have been offered a refund, once I explained how poorly the vans performed.

I feel bad giving a family owned biz such a low review and i really wanted to give them a chance but things just kept stacking up til we reached our threshold.
–the first time i called i asked for a hatchback and the woman (jessica) didn’t even know if the seats folded down, etc. all she told me was to come in and look at it for myself. i would’ve loved for her to check on it for me so i didn’t have to research everything online.
–i looked up the year and mode and then i called a 2^nd time to reserve it. but she wouldn’t do it for me! she kept insisting i had to come in to look at the car before i got to reserve it. sigh*.
— i fold. we drive all the way there to look at the car. The owner of the place asked if we had a reservation. I understand he was flustered and probably overwhelmed due to the holidays and because his secretary is absolutely useless. I tried to explain that no, Jessica wouldn’t let me reserve it. We find out that the car wasn’t even READY and needed to be cleaned– which would’ve been GREAT to know when i first inquired about it and it’s availability!
— i was even willing to forgive that. i said the car didn’t need to be cleaned. we dont have an hour to 1.5 to wait. so we waited outside for them to retrieve the car.
— then woman came by, yelling at one of the staff members! She threw an all out hissy fit in front of the customers! «you dont talk to me like that! PA! he’s yelling at me…» walks into owners office. oh. it’s jessica. what a pleasant surprise.
— by the time we get to the car, it reeked of cigarette smoke and there were stains everywhere, and i don’t think taking it through a car wash would’ve done the job.
Then we finally decided to go to the evil corporation, Enterprise. I had already called them earlier and they had a backup hatchback for me-​cleaned, and ready.
Yes, Sun Diego rentals offers week long rentals for only $ 150, but the trouble and grit weren’t worth the price. We felt really uncomfortable in there and i really think a budding family business needs to make sure their staff is competant and a positive representation of the business.

Just took a family camping trip, and being that we a drive a small car our only choice was to rent a large van. Found sun Diego here on Unilocal and we figured let’s give them a shot. Their prices were very competitive and from just over the phone conversations they seemed like they had a more personal feel compared to other rental companies I spoke with.
So now we are picking up our van and the service rep Jessica was very helpful and knowledgeable about the van and was very patient with me. I tend to ask a lot of questions and she was pleased to answer them all. I am a bit of a germ a phob at times and I must say the van was spotless from head to toe. I even took a lil test drive to see how I would handle the van and it drove great.
We had a great camping trip with our friends and the van did great. Everyone was comfy and had a great road trip there and back. My only advice to people in the future is be prepared for the gas. The van has a big gas tank and depending on how far your driving be prepared for that portion in your trip budget. Hopefully my review can in some way help u. And once again thanks to the great folks from Sun Diego rentals. I will be referring you and using you guys for future needs.

Just recently rented a 15 person van to celebrate my 30^th birthday with a homemade tour of some San Diego breweries, and we went with Sun Diego. The van was in great condition when we picked it up, and we started our day. We ended up having some trouble with the van that forced us to cancel our day halfway through. These guys went absolutely above and beyond in how they handled the situation, and blew us away with their customer service. Despite the trouble with the vehicle, I am a very happy customer and look forward to doing business with Sun Diego again.

Perfect place to rent a large passenger van. We rented a 12 passenger van for $ 90 a day with unlimited mileage. Service was outstanding and staff (josephine & carlos) were awesome. Van was clean and ready to go. We will use them again!

These people are very friendly and know what customer service is. I was so surprised the moment I walked in because of the «Hello’s» very nice. Also Corey was awesome and assured me that if I had any problems at all or any questions, to just call him. Also the girl who is working there was very friendly and even took me back to the shop where my car had been worked on.
Great staff! I will definitely use Enterprise again because of this store.
