I haven’t been here before but know. Even before the smog check results ., that I’m in the right place. Their mechanic is very friendly competent, and cordial. On my 1^st attempt he did not charge me to confirm with a check engine alarm notice and nearly zero gasoline in the tank. He couldn’t do it. But this time he’s able to do the check and I hope my old truck passes. wish me luck.

It was that time again… my baby needed a Smog check to get her registration renewed. I checked around a few areas in OB and found The Smog Squad had the best reviews with the most competitive price.
I went in on a late Saturday morning and my car was taken care of right away. Carlos (I think that’s his name as it was on his shirt) let me know it would take about 15 minutes and directed me to a tented area to wait.
The location can be a bit tough to find as it’s tucked away in between a few shops off of Hancock. It’s a no frills, no thrills location but I think it’s how they can keep their prices competitive.
True to form my car was finished in under 15 minutes. Carlos even noticed an issue with my radiator and suggested I contact my regular mechanic to get it checked out. Since he doesn’t do repairs on site, I felt it was totally a valid recommendation and appreciated the extra attention.
With the printed online coupon, it came out to $ 39.95. Highly recommend it.

I called around to a few places and these guys were the easiest, most straight forward, honest guys I found. They gave me the lowest price and we’re not concerned with what kind of car I drove like everyone else. I drive a 911 and they were the only folks that were not charging me extra because I have a high end car. Straight shooters! I will be going there anytime I need a smog test and recommend them as well.

Look. Nobody likes to get their pipes checked. Especially if its’ a government mandated thing. But if you can get a reasonable price, good service, fast it at least dulls the pain. THe Smog Squad does just that. No one goes there for «fun.» It’s a chore.
I’ve been coming here for years — and even though they moved to an out of way backwater with nothing around but the animcal rescue center, the wait is short enough where that doesnt’ really matter.

Quick as can be! Friendly, cheap standard pricing, no gimmicks, no add on costs. I called, they had two cars ahead of me. I got there in q couple minutes literally and they had me in and out in 15min. So impressed!

Carlos may have moved to a new location, but the service is still great! Located on the backside of Hancock near Sports Arena. Had me in and out (and on my way to In-​N-​Out) in 10 minutes! Thanks!

I found The Smog Squad on a Google search, and read the Unilocal reviews before I went. They offer an online coupon on their web site, so go get that before you go. Carlos was really nice and attentive, and he had me out of there in 10 minutes. I am thrilled with the service and can recommend with confidence.

Loved this little place. I had a horrible experience the last time I went and got a smog check. I wanted to try somewhere new, so I called this place. They picked up the phone right away and offered the lowest price for my vehicle. I drove there and got right in. The worker was very friendly told me the price straight away and never to the price. Though I will warn you it’s hidden!

I called ahead and made an appointment with Carlos.
He was really nice and took my car immediately when I arrived.
While he was performing the smog check, I walked across the street to Sprouts for some fruit and veggies. By the time I walked back less than a half hour later, my car was parked outside ready to go.
I used the online coupon, about $ 42 all in, no hidden fees.
Definitely made a necessary «chore» palatable.

Very very friendly employee helped me yesterday. They were close to closing, but didn’t seem to be rushing to close. He was very thorough and polite. I randomly found them, but would definitely come back for a smog test again.

i had recently had work done on my car and was given incorrect information about how long to wait before getting it smogged. when i came here the first time my car ended up not being ready. the could have easily charged me for it but let me leave for free. i went back later to get my car smogged and will be back from now on so long as i live in the area.

This place is absolutely terrific! After visiting 5 places that either didn’t have staff during their business hours, or had exorbitant prices, Smog Squad was a welcome reprieve. No wait, I was in and out for $ 40 in 15 minutes. Highly recommend!

This is the second time I’ve come here, first time was 2 years ago. I didn’t know about a coupon then (they might not have even had one then) but I remember them being very friendly.
Anyway, it’s time for the incredibly annoying and unecessary smog check requirement. So I came here just before 9:30am on a Saturday – I was the only person there. Was in-​and-​out in just under half an hour. Total was 41.90 I believe and that did include everything and the transfer fee. Of course, the guy was really nice and was almost excited that I brought my coupon. I felt kind of bad for him because I think he was the only one working there, so hopefully he got some backup later in the day.
They need to work on their waiting room though. I think they might share it with that car place, but the furtniture looked gross to sit on and beyond weird, there were manequins dressed in bikinis sitting in chairs in a couple offices. Yeah, not normal. Took a star off because I felt too uncomfortable to sit in their waiting room and opted to stand outside instead while it was drizzling.

This place is GREAT! Not too many people know about it. This is my second time here. I was referred here by my old mechanic because he didn’t do smog checks. I was late sending in my DMV registration (It was due in October!).
I Googled them to find out what time they opened because if you show right when they open, you will most likely be the first one. It’s located on Rosecrans, but you have to look for it because you could just drive by. Luckily, they had a website and there’s an online coupon. So instead of costing $ 59.95, the total cost was $ 39.95…tax included.
I’m going to go with Tara T. and say that «Carlos» had asked me where I got the coupon and I told him the website. He said his boss wanted to know because the website was only up for a couple of weeks and I was the first to come in with it.
WOW! Lot of firsts this week.
They are quick and efficient. They have a small waiting room that is not much to write home about. However, there is a shop cat that kept me company while I was there. The funny thing was when he? she? sat next to my chair and pawed my leg for me to pet him? her? My dog does the same thing.
