Perched where land meets sea on the shores of San Diego’s Mission Bay, Tidal is a restaurant that offers a thoughtful dining selection of local seafood and craft beverages that, like the ever changing tides, shift seasonally at Mother Nature’s whim. Anchored by deep Mediterranean influences, Chef Amy DiBiase presents modern, light adaptations of traditional seafood dishes such as olive oil poached halibut, ricotta gnudi and chicken confit. Keeping in even keel with the kitchen, the bar offers an impressive collection of boutique wines, SoCal craft beers and mixed drinks by cocktail craftsmen Snake Oil.

Set in what was a private beach house in the 60s, this San Diego restaurant’s mid-​century modern design draws from the era it was built by Hollywood producer Jack Skirball. A fire pit-​dotted deck, communal tables, cozy lounge and savory menu of shared plates beckon casual group gatherings and lively conversation ­­- though the 180° views of Mission Bay might just leave you at a loss for words.

History

Established in 2014.

Chef Amy DiBiase’s new San Diego beach restaurant, Tidal, launched in April 2014 on the west shore of Paradise Point Resort & Spa’s 44-​acre island. Set in what was once a private home in the 1960s, the new 3,000-sq. ft. beach restaurant offers panoramic waterfront dining on San Diego’s Mission Bay. The renovation team sought to preserve the building’s original architecture while infusing a contemporary interpretation of design from the era it was built by Hollywood producer Jack Skirball. The resulting ambiance is an airy beach house grounded by the use of industrial and mid-​century elements such as riveted aviator chairs, capiz shell globes and live edge wooden tabletops. A nod to the beach restaurant’s residential roots, communal tables, a plush indoor lounge, and cozy fire pits encourage collective dining and causal group gatherings. Expansive windows and a spacious deck line the western façade of the San Diego beach restaurant, revealing unrivaled 180-​degree views of Mission Bay.
