I have worked with Michael and his team for the last year. They are my go-​to contractors on all of my projects. As a small business owner providing interior design services, I want someone I can count on — great communication, honest quotes, and fast, smart + beautiful work. 7 Hills has helped with projects as small as fixing door knobs to as big as installing electrical fixtures and creating built-​in shelving for a bedroom. I highly recommend 7 Hills for jobs within your home and they will certainly continue to be a part of my team of skilled professionals!

Call to get quote and got a message to either contact via a form on the webpage — Internet could not find their web address — -or via an email message which was returned as undeliverable. Left a message and am awaiting a return call.

Love this company! We have used them numerous times and always with great results. Knowledgable, professional and just nice to be around. These guys do great work.

I am not sure why these guys are getting such good reviews — unless their friends and families are writing the reviews.
I am in need of a simple job to be done at my place. I need at least one pipe snaked in my bathroom. That is it. I found these guys on Unilocal and thought I would give them a try. I called and sent them an e-​mail on Thursday. Today is Saturday and I finally heard back from them. They don’t have any availability until January 5^th for one thing. Then, they stated they charge $ 80/​hr. with a minimum of 2 hours plus materials.
Really? You are ridiculously expensive. I know you can get away with charging anything in this city, but that is outrageous. I won’t be contacting you again. And I hope others realize how expensive you are and stop supporting your business. You are a handyman. You aren’t a plumber; you aren’t an electrician… Plumbers and electricians don’t even charge that much. And most of them return your call/​e-​mail in a timely manner. You don’t even do that.

However, this is a new firsthand experience that I encountered with one of the business owners sending me the rude, unprofessional message below. In fact, I have received another rude message from one of the owners or one of their friends I suspect. They continue to pester me. The public should know how this company does business.

We just moved to SF from LA and were in desperate need of a handyman. I called multiple services and even had a few come out to our house and let me just say that 7 Hills is the best by far. Michael came to our house and was able to complete the random assortment of fixes and repairs needed in our newly purchased unit in record time. He was one of the friendliest, hardest working handymen I have ever hired. I will solely use 7 Hills for the entire time I live here because their service is friendly, fast, and and the prices are unbeatable for the quality of work they do. Thank you so much Michael, you were a life saver and now we can finally begin to start living in our new house.

These guys are great for so many reasons…
–They return phone calls
–They show up on time
–They bring their own tools
–They clean up
–They say no to me when they think something won’t work and then proceed to help figure out a alternative solution
–Very reliable
–One project didn’t go as planned and they came back, fixed it at no charge
–Dog friendly
I have used them 3 times. Mostly for shelves, storage, flat screen installation and small honey-​dos. I probably could have gotten one of the guys standing around at Home Depot for less, but these guys are worth every dime. I paid them for their knowledge, great service and the way they stand by their work. They also have insurance and by the time they leave, you feel like your 2 favorite cousins are leaving and you should be buying them pizza and beer instead of paying them.
Some of the things I have had them do were kinda small like change out my smoke alarm batteries, hang a paper towel rod, but they didn’t ever complain. It’s almost like rent a husband, but better because they don’t touch my TV remote.
Seriously, these guys are great and are now my go to for any large or small project I have.

Michael and Joseph were amazing! They came and completed various tasks in our house. They were professional, on-​time, and extremely courteous. They took the time to explain everything and were very patient. They did about 5 small jobs for us and all 5 were excellent. I would highly recommend hiring them for your home improvement needs. We will definitely be using them again in the future.

I’ve used 7 Hills twice and both times they delivered — showed up on time, completed the tasks in a timely and professional manner, and kept the areas spotless when finished.
First time, I needed to replace a fan in a bathroom and replace another light. It required a special bulb and fan unit and he knew just the place to get it and had both replaced in less than an hour.
Second time, I needed help fixing a pocket door which was installed wrong and so required careful removal of Victorian era trim in order to re-​install. He managed this quickly and delicately so that we didn’t even need touch up paint on the trim work and it is now working perfectly. I would definitely use them again.

I was having issues with my front door, so I called 7 Hills and left a message. Joseph called me back within a few hours (that alone is woth a star — I had tried two other places prior to calling 7 Hills and to this day neither of them have bothered to call back).
Joseph came over at an agreed upon time and inspected my door. Unfortunately my problem was one that needed an insulation specialist, but I really appreciated that he was honest with me and even offered me referrals. He didn’t charge me a penny for the trip to my home or his time and was super friendly and professional. If I ever need any other work done, Joseph will be my first call.

Contacted 7 Hills about some work for my condo and Joseph got back to me in less than 24 hours. He showed up on time (actually a little early) and looked professional. He got to work right away and was courteous, clean and very friendly. Price for his time was very fair. It felt like a friend had come over to help me with some work. If you want someone to come to your house/​condo and get the job done right and at a good price, Joseph at 7 Hills is your guy.

I had a very minor jobs to do but due to a sprain I needed someone to do them for me.
When he called me he was worried about where he was going to park. Not my problem you want work your figure it out. Then he failed to show up due to food poisoning. He was sure he would be ok the next day — it was more like a wild Sunday party that kept him down on Monday.
One project was to install two new shower curtain rods. He managed to nick the paint on the bathroom door frames THREE times on each door when trying to install the rod. The rod was installed just slightly off of level.
When asked to sand something he produced a small OSH hand sander. Certainly not up to the job.
When I showed him a cabinet door that kept coming loose requiring me re tighten the screws. His explanation for the problem was the slot on the screw head was pointing up and down not side to side! This was a totally ridiculous answer.
I don’t think I had one of the two owners written about on Unilocal but some fill-​in who was not up to the job or any job.

Broken old things BUG me, and with a 100 year old house there has been a LOT bugging me lately.
In the past year I have done lots of projects around my old house, new floors, landscaping, interior and exterior paint, tile work and after all the dust settled I realized I was in need of a dependable Handyman. I called 7Hills, and (Miracle!) Joseph called me that same day and we made a plan.
My problems: I had a new kitchen floor put it which left an irregular rubber piece above the new baseboard right below the cabinet. My floor didn’t even look good until Joseph from 7Hills came by and took a look. We brainstormed about fixes and he bought wood he throught would work, and he even stained it an oak color that would match the cabinets before he came to save the time of drying at my house. He showed up with the wood cut from his measurements, and it was a PERFECT match.
I had a door in my ancient bathroom that has the old type of interior lock with glass door knobs — this door has not shut properly in over 35 years. I did some pre-​emptive investigating on the door interior and did find an old (hopefully) replacement lock from the recycled building place out in the Bayview. Still I had low hopes this could be fixed. But Joseph took a look at the pieces and told me he thought it would work… AND IT DID! He used those old recycled pieces to fashion a door lock and strike plate that functions as it originally did. Lovely!
I had Joseph come by again yesterday to hang a HUGE vintage metal piece over one doorway. He made it seem so simple, finding the studs, measuring meticulously and having just the right hanging fixtures to make that huge heavy piece off my floor and now stable and lovely on the wall.
He also installed a new medicine cabinet into a tile wall (replacing a 35+ year old cabinet). Taking out the old rusted cabinet he was ready for anything, (damage to the tile, having to build a new frame for the cabinet) cause working on old houses… you never know. It went seamlessly, and my shiny new cabinet looks lovely.
Before I called 7Hills I had calls out to Handyman companies who never called or emailed me back, EVER. The great thing about 7Hills is they are handy AND they are professional, (ie they call you back, show up on time, communicate throughout the process) all of which are needed to make a happy customer.
With my old old house there will always be a need for a handyman, and I am so glad I called 7Hills.

I hired 7 Hills to fix my doorbell. They were fast, efficient and they even helped me fix my shower rode all in less than an hour. I told Michael «you guys are now my go-​to guys!»

The guys of 7 Hills, Michael and Joseph, are awesome! They were friendly, responsive, and so easy to work with. Will definitely use them for all projects going forwards!

We had 7 Hills install anti-​skid strips on the back steps of a rental building and it was done quickly and well. They showed up when scheduled, were prompt with communicating by email, and emailed pictures when it was done since I live out of the area.
I also asked them about rebuilding a fence, and while they were willing to do it, they suggested that given the specific needs of the project, we might get a better price from a company that specializes in that niche. How pleasantly surprising that they would redirect me to someone else who could save me money.
Now I’m looking to have a door replaced and I immediately called Joseph and Michael. They’ve been great at getting out to look at the job quickly, helping figure out the best way to tackle the project, working with our tenant, and responding to my emails and phone calls promptly and with the needed info. It looks like they’ll be doing the work later this week, so I’ll have to come back and update this review once that’s done.

When you enter the world of handymen ;) it can be a strange and arduous process to figure out who to call. Among about 15 other individuals and companies, I called 7Hills for a bathroom re-​caulking job. Michael got back to me right away, set up an appt, came right on time, was courteous, professional, and got right to work after an estimate. We were hosting houseguest the next day, so you could say it was a rush job, but 7Hills came to the rescue!

The guys did a great job installing two hand-​rails on staircases in my house, removing some old deck brackets in my yard, and assembling some dining room furniture. I am definitely going to hire them again for other household jobs soon!

Joseph is great! He’s become our go-​to guy whenever we have an oddball issue, although we certainly plan to call him if we have more mundane problems. So far he has installed a weather strip on our front door and helped us realign the keyboard tray on a desk. He’s perfectly willing to brainstorm for us and we’re glad to have someone throw out ideas and explain strategies and pros and cons to us, since we don’t have time to research all that. His prices are reasonable and he gets back to you quick, unlike other handymen we’ve called who were annoyingly slow to respond. Highly recommend!!!
