I will always be grateful to Julie for what she did for me. My baby was born premature. She was born at 30 weeks and had to stay in the NICU for six weeks. On top of all the stress I had because my baby was born so unexpectedly, I was also anxious that I would not be able to provide her with my breast-​milk, the best nutrition for a baby but especially a premature one. Since she was on a feeding tube for some time, I had to rely only on pumping to get my milk production going. I was pumping 8 to 10 times a day for two months. This process was so exhausting, but Julie encouraged me to focus on the final outcome, which would be that when my baby comes home I would be able to provide her with enough milk for her to thrive. Julie made me believe it was possible. She was so knowledgable and made me feel so comfortable. I pumped so much those first few months that I still have milk in my freezer, its that best thing to have when I can’t breastfeed her. My baby girl is now 6 months old and doing great. She is at a healthy weight and I know she is getting the best nutrition possible. I am so thankful to Julie, I don’t think I could have done it without her.

I had a hard time with breastfeeding my first son. I had a couple of lactation consultants that gave me conflicting information. No matter what I did I was in pain. So much pain that I dreaded nursing. I ended up being in pain for four months. So, I was a little worried with my second son. It started off rough. Again, it was because I was getting conflicting information from nurses and the lactation consultants in the hospital. I was afraid I was going to be in pain for months again. It was a little rough the first two weeks. Luckily Julie was there. I had a great experience with her. She has a great bedside manner, she is so knowledgeable, and she really listens and she genuinely loves her job. She would work with you on a plan that was doable for you. I never felt pressured to do anything or think it was going to be overwhelming. I liked how she emailed me with the plan, so I would have something to refer to if I forget anything. Within a month, the pain was gone and I enjoyed nursing.

During my hospital stay, I did not breastfeed once. Since my daughter was born premature, we were (without knowing any better) advised to automatically put her on formula. Once home, I became frustrated that my baby wasn’t latching properly and was close to giving up from all the pain. I was extremely stressed out and exhausted. This is where having an expert resource like Julie made all the difference. We contacted Julie, and she immediately made a 40 mile trip to our home to provide help, support and guidance. Julie helped me ease into the process of breastfeeding, worked with me on proper latching, and suggested that I rent a hospital grade pump to help keep my milk supply up.
Julie has a very calming demeanor, possesses outstanding bedside manners, makes you feel very comfortable, is extremely knowledgeable and certainly demonstrates an unwavering commitment and passion for what she does. Julie will follow-​up to see how you’re progressing and is also very responsive to phone calls and emails. Though I still pump, what’s important to note is that, almost 1 year later, I am still going strong with breastfeeding the majority of time and feel no pain whatsoever, which is all due to Julie’s ongoing support, encouragement and guidance.
For baby #2, I will undoubtedly look to Julie again for help. We’ve developed such a strong relationship that I now refer to her as my BFF– BREAST friend forever!

Julie is a lifesaver. I texted her early one morning on recommendation from a mutual friend, and she was at our house by noon that day. Our son, only 4 days old, had refused to latch upon leaving the hospital. Julie showed us multiple techniques to get him latching again and had useful tools with her such as bigger flanges for my Medela pump and a nipple shield. She spent time each visit writing and revising a detailed feeding plan customized for us based on all the information I gave her. I’ve seen her three times and each time she was very attentive, on time, and prepared with a scale to weigh my son to track his progress. She is definitely someone you want if you’re having problems or even just a slight concern about breastfeeding. I highly recommend her!

Being a first time mom and finding out my baby was having trouble gaining weight was pretty perplexing and stressful when he seemed to be breastfeeding well. Julie came out and did multiple visits at my house to help me come up with a feeding plan for my baby and I. Her friendly demeanor, extensive knowledge, and positive encouragement, left me feeling confident that we could continue exclusively breastfeeding and supplementing with pumped breast milk. Not only did she help us come up with a plan during the visit, she later sent a detailed email including the baby’s current weights, the feeding plan, and a couple helpful videos with examples of positioning/​latching techniques we discussed during the visit. It was very helpful to be able to see it all in writing and refer back.
My baby has continued gaining weight after implementing our plan and I am forever grateful to have met Julie and for the amazing difference she made in my first month of being a mom.
