Excellent food and attentive service. Best sangria I have ever had! They also offered me a lovely, celebratory birthday desert!

What’s going on Cana? Apparently I’m not the only one with the same issue of having an OpenTable reservation only to arrive to a dark and CLOSED business on thanksgiving weekend. Very unprofessional. The least you guys can do is 1.) update your voicemail of hours and 2.) update your website.
To have a thriving business, I advise not to open and close whenever you feel like it without informing patrons.

I brought a friend visiting from out of town here tonight because I thought she would be delighted by the sangria and delicious food.
We arrived on a Friday at 5:30pm to find the restaurant closed and with no notice/​reason on the door nor anyone answering the phone.
I’m disappointed and won’t be making the trip all the way from Walnut Creek without calling ahead to ensure they are honoring their posted hours of business.

We purchased a living social deal, 50 for 100. We made reservations for my friend’s very special birthday and when we arrived, the place was closed. We didn’t receive any notice. Several other people were at the door as well, also with reservations.
We had to dine elsewhere and pay a substantial amount more than we had planned.
But the food was amazing (Limon Rotisserie)
The next day we called and the rude woman who took our call insisted that they called us. However, they never called, no message, nothing. She then agreed to honoro our deal that following evening.
Later that night, we recieved yet another call a mere hour before our scheduled reservation, and we were told it was a private function and that they could no longer honor our reservation or living social deal.
I had to leave town, and my friend was very upset that we were never able to use the deal while I was there. After she uses that coupon (eventually) it is very likely we wont be visiting again.

We came here once for a Cuban lunch, and once things got going, it was okay. There were a few items out of stock in the kitchen/​bar, unbeknownst to our kind waitress, so we awesomely got our second drinks served on the house.
Caña was having a dance floor set up for that evening, with audio speakers arranged for a DJ. Looked like it could have been quite a fun set up, if we weren’t attending something else that evening!
My order was a Sandwich Cubano: with Pulled pork, Black Forest ham, swiss cheese, mustard, dill pickle and mojo on pressed Cuban roll, adding in Hen’s egg. Was rather tasty, and reminded me slightly of a Croque-​Madame.
The cocktail I ultimately may have received (as it was not my first choice) was likely their «…But Hemingway Ain’t Cuban,» as I remember the cilantro. Not bad at all, and I appreciated one on the house.
Final rating: 3 stars — may go up should we return to dance!

I absolutely love this place. Our server is always amazing and very well spoken. I have been here at least 3 times. The food is to die for, anything literally is good. I always go for the churasco con guevos. The fried chicken is by far one of the best ones i have tried as well.
Mimosas are delicious and it seems they have adjusted pricing to cater to a better audience which i am very happy about.
There’s always a live band on Sundays playing but i wish the party would start after 5 pm because some brunches run late depending on the amount of people.
They take credit cards and are down to split if you do big parties make sure everyone has cash.

Excellent service, clean atmosphere, delicious food. Parking was easy to find.

We still miss Chan Chan near our house, and despite being more than two miles from our home in SoMa (I hope you’re snickering if you’re not from SF), this Cubano restaurant is fantastic!
Caña Cuban Parlor was slammed the night we went and unfortunately, they had sold out of several specials, but the appetizers and food we ordered was absolutely delicious. The manager came by to personally apologize for the lack of the specials we had planned to order, and offered us all a shot of top-​shelf rum as a small gesture. Even if he had simply come by without the rum, I would have been impressed, so I’m even more pleased since (we hadn’t complained and) it would appear their policy is to reach out to patrons who attempt to order items which are sold out. Well done, Caña Cuban Parlor! We’ll definitely be back!

They got good food here! Lunch and dinner menus is different but both menus got a lot to pick from. The fried chicken sandwich is my go to for lunch and the shrimp and lamb for dinner. There version of ceviche is good too I like the pork aswell. All in all the place got good food and they never disappoint me. They’ve got chill party on Sundays where they usually have local celebrity musicians, live bands or djs playing music. If you have time on Sunday check it out.

FOOD:
We attended the Sunday Brunch menu. Great food. Best fried chicken I’ve had in a while. The maduros were absolutely amazing and came with some sweet dipping sauce that also paired nicely with my sweet potato waffle. The sweet potato waffle came out a little colder than I would have liked and wasn’t anything out of the ordinary.
I also tried the empanada– and I can’t really remember much of how it tasted– which lets me know it was’t anything great.
Their steak was amazing– super tender with great flavor. YUMMY!
ATMOSPHERE
Nice set-​up in a rather quiet area of San Francisco. The Cana here has a much bigger dance floor than the one in Oakland, but my experience was that many of the people where wall flowers, so make sure you bring your own partner if you can.
SERVICE:
Absolutely terrible! We did have a nice attentive server, but after that everything went down hill. Everyone had a different story to tell — which made for a very confusing and frustrating customer experience. I originally decided to go to Cana to experience the live band. When it came time to visit, I found that most people didn’t know what was going on.
THE CONFLICTING ANSWERS
1– My friend called the night before and was told dancing started at 3pm
2– When we arrived that day the Server told us it wouldn’t start until 6pm
3– I asked a body guard the correct time and he said they didn’t usually arrive until 5 or after.
4– The internet said dancing started at 4pm.
5– The promoter told us they wouldn’t actually start until about 530.
5– The band didn’t begin playing until 6:15!
Sounds like there should have been a company meeting!
To add to the confusion, the bartender decided she didn’t want to serve us tap water — after we had sweated, danced and were thirsty! I had been there since 2pm with access to water — and was a paying patron! So I wasn’t quite sure where the newfound stinginess had come from. She said they only sold botteld water for $ 3? And she tells me this AFTER my dance parter had received a glass of water with no issues.
Where is the consistency folks?
The Cana at Oakland gave us water without a problem, so I didn’t feel like I was being taken advantage of. I literally had to sneak tap water from some water jugs near the server’s station. Since when did drinking tap water become a crime? That definitly left a bad taste in my mouth.
Ill give it a 3 for the good food and nice server. Other than that, I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit again. I’ll stick to Cana in Oakland.

I just want to say first off, that the drinks were good and the food was even better. We had the camerones con frijoles negros, pargo a la vizcaina, lamb chops, plantains and yucca fries. All of which did not disappoint, however it was the service that really took down the rating for me.
The service was slow. Like exceptionally slow. Our meal took two and a half hours, only one of which consisted of eating and drinking — you know, normal meal stuff. It was incredibly hard to get our waiter’s attention; the busboy was the most attentive to us the entire meal! He was always the one to get our waiter for us or any help at all. And if I’m honest, he is the only reason we left a tip. Throughout the entire meal we tried multiple times making eye contact and waving our waiter over but it was like he was blatantly ignoring us.
We had a table for 5 with only 4 place settings, and never received the fifth setting, even after asking, twice. As a result, two of my friends had to share a plate. Little bread plates might I add. At some point during our meal, another waiter came up to our table and asked if she could get us clean plates. We were thankful and said yes, but the plates never came.
We also ordered the beef empanadas. When the order came to our table, the girl said it was one vegetable and one beef empanada. When we asked her why that was, she said «Well, your waiter said you said it was okay because we’re out of the beef empanadas.» First thing, our waiter never told us that (I mean we barely even saw him), and second, both empanadas were vegetable. Also, the empanadas were not impressive at all.
It took an hour to get our check, and another 30 minutes for them to take the bill. My friends were speculating that the poor service was due to the fact that we had a Groupon (which I told the waiter after ordering), and I really hope isn’t true. On top of that, this is the second time this has happened to me when buying a restaurant voucher from Groupon. The whole point of Groupon is to explore and experience new places, and if business establishments are going to discriminate on how you pay, they shouldn’t even bother signing up for that.
I really enjoyed the food, but due to the less than desirable wait staff/​service, I don’t think we will ever be back. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone unless you don’t mind trying to flag down your waiter for an hour and a half.

Thursday night dinner at 6:30. Made a reservation but upon arrival we saw we probably didn’t need to. Service was great, they were all very attentive. One dish was forgotten (maduros) but we were too full to enjoy so she did us a favor… this time.
Started off with our cocktails saoco– coconut and I had a clean refreshing cucumber gin cocktail that was just ok.
What we ordered and actually got
Miami chicken Caesar– chicken seasoned and cooked perfectly and salad dressed well with an awesome dressing. We both agreed one of the best Caesars we have had in a while.
Chorizo and potato flatbread– nothing special
Ropa Vieja– good, beef was tender but lacking any depth while the rice and purée were very pleasing to the palette
Lobster risotto special of the day– an explosion of flavors that were amazing together
We used a groupon so value was definitely good, portions were generous, service was solid B to A–
Décor was simple, floors and table bases could use a deep clean. Walls could use a new coat of paint as well as the chairs.
Will we come back? Absolutely.

This place ripped me off. Do not leave your credit card open! Especially on $ 5 Sunday. Five drinks cost $ 50 and they refused to itemize my bill or add it up or explain. I was shocked.
Music was alright. Food was ok. Service was criminal.

With so much great food in Oakland, who needs to bother picking a mediocre place? True, the menu here looks interesting, because of course, it’s got a Californian «local food» twist to it. However, the delivery is the important part.
Nothing really made an impression that day. I got their highly recommended shredded pork, and it turned out to be too much bland and a bit chewy. The mister got a benedict with pork, and didn’t think it was that great either.
Funny thing is, the person who got a reservation here actually lived in Florida and knew Cuban food really well. I think she was disappointed too, so ah well. Guess that’s what you get when you attempt to get east coast food on the other side of the country ;)

So we had two brunches here, kind of underwhelming at this point.
I would like to note that the flatbread has cheese even though it’s not listed that way on the menu, not too cool for those of us allergic to dairy

WHAT an amazing dinner experience. Truly a gem, hidden in the outer Mission, which is an up and coming area. I found Cana through UrbanDaddy (my go-​to-​awesome restaurant finding app) while my Grandma, Mom, and Aunt were visiting me in SF.
The atmosphere and décor is tasteful and modern, lots of chandeliers and an old-​warehouse high-​ceiling feel. It is quite a large space– I could see someone throwing a reception or a party there for sure.
Aside for the fabulous Mojitos, we ordered the Ropa Vieja, Lechón Asado, and the Guiso De Berenjena (which was the table’s favorite dish). Their Fried plantains were delightfully delicious and sweet.
Every course that we got was more exciting and yum-​worthly than the last… we left with full stomachs and unanimous rave reviews. It was truly one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a while, a much needed exotic soul food night out!
I’m coming back for sure, I’d love to check out the Salsa Dancing nights!

food wasn’t hot, and the chicken on my flatbread was cooked the day before, kind of dried out. I could see that, if fresh and hot, it would have been super tasty though.
Explains why there were only three tables of people at noon midweek.
Looks like a great place to go dancing at night.

Bland food, poor service, empty dining room. It’s only a matter of time before Caña Cuban Palor goes the way of Fidel.
Caña Cuban Palor has stripped the former Circolo space down to the polished concrete floor and cinder block walls, leaving the dining room sparse, unadorned, and uninviting.
The menu looks inviting, but the execution leaves much to be desired. With marinated young beets, hearts of palm, arugula, avocados, murcia al vino, crispy garbanzos, and mamey vinaigrette, the ensalada de betabel ($ 9) was good, but uninspired. The camarones con frijoles negros ($ 14) arrived only slightly warm, rather than piping hot and the flavors were muddled. Traditionally, léchon asado is suckling pig roasted over charcoal. The léchon asado ($ 20) at Caña Cuban Palor is more like pernil al horno, oven roasted pork shoulder. While tender, the flavors are again slightly muddied. The sole standout was the yucca frita; light and tender, it was outstanding.
Caña Cuban Parlor has a full bar and a limited, unimaginative selection of wines. The cava ordered was obviously open a long time as it was slightly oxidized with few bubbles remaining.
Service was pleasant, but glacial. Dishes arrived sloooowly and the check only was obtained after an interminable wait and a «sign the check» hand signal to a waiter across the room.
Caña Cuban Parlor is trying to do a good job, in San Francisco trying just doesn’t cut it.

This is a mixed review: food is great; cocktails were so-​so; service was very negligent. I really want to root for this place because its 2 mins from my place, but today’s service was really bad in that they simply were inattentive from start to finish. We really enjoyed our food, so if they iron out the service they’ve got something good going. Given the prices they are charging, the service really needs to be better.
The drinks were disappointing as well. I ordered a coconut mojito and it was not good; the sangria was so-​so.
I hope they improve their performance because I’d like a good Cuban restaurant in my ‘hood

Soooo THIS IS what happened to the Circolo Lounge, plenty of good times here before.
Same sleek interior, new ownership, salsa-​ish jazz music, and Cuban contemporary cuisine. I don’t like how it’s CASH ONLY but the food at least for lunch was really good.
If I were you, I’d get the burger with the yucca fries and the black bean soup. Wash everything down with a mango papaya agua fresca ($ 5) and you’ll get a taste of Miami off of Florida St.

Nice smokey flavor from the ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ blend of beef chuck and ground applewood smoked bacon. Topped with sofrito relish, avocado, caramelized onions, and white cheddar on a soft and sturdy ciabatta roll this is quite possibly the best hamburguesa in the city. Liked it better than Papito’s and Gilberth’s. (

GET THIS! Thick spears of yucca that were light and crisp, with fluffy insides. Not at all oily. Texturally interesting. The tamarind ketchup it came with reminded me of banana ketchup.
Our waitress was great. She was from Cuba and It was hard to resist her recommendation of the BLACK BEAN AND CACAO BISQUE in that sultry Cuban accent. Incredible flavors. Humble, elegant and crave worthy for $ 6 a bowl!
