Specialties
Caña San Francisco is an upscale, full-service Cuban restaurant in the Potrero Hill/Mission District.
Our concept is derived from classic Cuban-inspired delecacies in conjunction with locally grown and sourced products to bring you both authentic and modern Cuban cuisine. We view food as a vital part of our Cuban heritage and as with all expressions of our culture, innovation, creativity, and invention serve as an engine to move forward…
In this way, we are authoring a modern Cuban cuisine.
Our mixology involves the use of real «Caña,» that is, crushing our own sugar cane to produce syrups, glazes and tinctures in order to provide you with the best cocktails this side of the Caribbean.
We place special emphasis on creating a novel cocktailing environment in the Great Cuban Tradition of Rum-based bartending, along with a menu that is sure to take you to the heart of La Habana and beyond
History
Established in 2010.
Crazy, Cuban Danilo was cutting sugar cane in his backyard in Oakland (yes, seriously), when he had the idea to open a Cuban restaurant. His neighbor Yusuf looked over the fence and being a Bay Area native and connoisseur of fine Cuban things, liked the idea.
We should do a classic Cuban-style parlor…
The rum should flow. The mojo nice and garlic-ey. We have to be able to stop and dance at a moment’s notice. Hug each other, laugh, argue, and socialize in a uniquely Cuban way. We have to respect the elders and the traditions but modernize it with style and make it our own.
Cana opened in Oakland in 2010. San Francisco in 2013. Come share with us. Vaya!
