DRIP’D Coffee Lab

I took the espresso class here and absolutely loved it. The owners were as sweet and as knowledgable as can be, and they really do pay attention to every detail, making sure each cup is as good as it could be. Cool place. Recommend highly!

Went in today and had a very disappointing experience. First, the two women working were initially anything but friendly. Ok, I get it, you’re super cool, you know, working at a coffee kiosk inside a lotion and soap refilling business… I’m just some douche with money trying to purchase your products to keep you employed… i get that.
I noticed they had a Cortado and a Gibraltar… knowing that a Cortado is commonly called a «Gibraltar» here in the US of A, I inquired, «What’s the difference between your Cortado and your Gibraltar?».
«One has more milk», the lady said, dismissively.
«Um… ok, which has more milk?», to which she replied, «The Cortado.»
«One soy Cortado», I said with a smile.
A minute or so later, my Cortado arrived. I took a small sip off of the top and noticed the foam did not taste like soy at all, so I walked up and said, «Hey, was this Cortado made with soy, or regular milk?».
The fucking attitude on these ladies was unbelieveable. They did not apologise for the mistake which could have made me very ill and ruined my day. In fact, they totally acted like they didn’t give a shit and were annoyed they had to remake it.
With an abundance of première «third wave» shops here in the city, there’s no need to spend your money at a place with ass hole emploees who don’t understand the ramifications about not giving enough fucks to ensure the safety and wellbeing of their customers. it’s one thing if they even seemed remotely concerned, but they didn’t.

A gem in the inner sunset. I’ve not seen any place which has such an large array of style of preparation of coffee drinks. Also they’ve got all the types of milk you would want, including raw, almond, cows milk, soy milk.
My favorite prepartion at home is the siphon for a clean taste, they are the only ones I’ve come across to make that that way if you want. Of course they have latte, caps and drip.
The staff is friend and knowledgeable.
Come here and hang out, small romantic spot.

Wow I have to update this review to 5 stars – which is rare for me even though I give praise to a lot of places in SF. They now have various treats including homemade banana bread, Rip Van Wafels, and occasionally cookies. They are more than happy to answer your questions especially if you’re new to the shop.
Soon they are adding some outdoor seating I believe, and are always expanding every time I stop by.
In addition, Taelur is an expert on fashion trivia as well as a wealth of knowledge on cult sci-​fi shows, so is always entertaining to talk to! Sorry, ladies, he’s taken!

I understand that space is limited in the city, but I’ve never seen a coffee shop housed within a shared space with a soap dispensary. Nonetheless, Drip’d is quite the hidden gem in the Inner Sunset (quite literally). They exclusively use Sightglass roasted beans so their coffee is quality.
If you’re not familiar with lighter roasts, you might not like what they have to offer for pourover coffee. Their current offerings include Blueboon, which is the darkest of the bunch, followed by single origins from Columbia and Honduras.
Their specialty is the house, cold brewed coffee that’s made overnight with cardamom, chicory, and coconut juice, served with your choice of milk. They also offer Aeropressed coffee if you fancy that method.
The hours are somewhat limited, but a good cup of coffee is hard to come by on Irving. Plus, there’s free wi-​fi and indoor/​outdoor seating.

There’s a lot of great stuff packed into a small space. I like how they have more than one roast available for pourovers as well as multiple milk options. Service is friendly and the space, though small, is cute. A convenient place to stop in if you’re running errands around the area.

Great coffee using beans from Sightglass. They have three roasts available for pourovers, and they make espresso drinks too. I believe they plan to have Sightglass’s Blueboon roast always available, and they rotate the other two choices every few weeks. If you’re no stranger to single origin beans, opt for one of the rotating choices instead of the Blueboon. If you’re new to the world of single origin beans and pourovers, go with the Blueboon.
Sightglass roasts on the lighter side, which leaves a nice amount of caffeine and also doesn’t obliterate the nuances in the beans. If you prefer darker roasts, get an Americano instead of a pourover.
Try the banana bread, if they have it. If not, you can pick up something from Arizmendi across the street before heading in. DRIP’D shares the space with a bulk soap, lotion, and shampoo shop. When I walk in and am hit with the aromas from that part of the store, my mind goes to a happy place knowing I’ll soon have delicious coffee in hand.
My favorite thing on their menu is their cold brewed coffee. It’s outstanding. I also like to try the Aeropress option every once and a while.

They take their coffee seriously, and slow. I love the raw milk option.

Pretty good cup of coffee. Very potent stuff. They have a few different varieties of coffee. There are some signs that give descriptions of the different types.
The staff are friendly enough. I didn’t have that much of an interaction with them.
It’s a small place so there is not a lot of seating. It’s pretty quiet inside. It’s probably a good place to study compared to a loud coffee shop.
They share the place with a lotion/​soap shop which seemed pretty cool.

Love DRIP’D coffee!!! Coffee was amazing, they serve Sightglass. Cool atmosphere its very small in a shared space but there are a couple of tables & and a counter. I liked the test tubes of coffee. The young man serving us was very friendly. Its nice to find a place like this in the neighborhood. Will go back on my next visit for sure!

Such a cute hidden gem! DRIP’D shares a storefront with another local business, but you can’t miss them because of the big wooden signs outside. I am such a sucker for anything that has cute & hipster-​esque décor.
They serve Sightglass Coffee– I tried the Honduras, described to have a chocolatey, fruity taste. It was delicious.
My favorite thing about DRIP’D is the décor! Super hipster and woodsy. It looks like a science lab, with drip funnels and test tubes filled with coffee beans.
The owner is a friendly Asian guy, and I can’t wait to see how they’ll be able to expand to their own storefront :)

My favorite hand drip coffee is in Berkeley (Cole Coffee), but DRIP’D is fun. I was worried it’d be steeped in pretentiousness, but the staff is super friendly and they accept credit cards with no min.
We ordered an Americano and Blueboon — between the two the Americano was much better. The Blueboon was still a bit too acidic for my tastes, will try it with the AeroPress next time.
Not much on the pastry front but I mean, you’re a hop, skip, and a jump away from Arizmendi’s, Sheng Kee, etc. Overall, a very nice addition to the Inner Sunset coffee scene.

Sightglass Guatemalan blend delivered on a blackberry jam, apricot and caramel promise. Plenty of flavor with nothing added. Nonfat milk available to cool things down.
All yours for $ 3. Comes from a very friendly staff making the caffeine come true in a small yet nicely done wood-​accented space.
Best part might have been the logo. Integrating the D as a cup handle is brilliant.

I was really impressed to see the numerous brewing methods on the menu. Even some of the better coffee options in San Francisco don’t offer Aeropress. These guys really have the coffee nailed down. Everything from the water, temperature, beans, grinding method, and brewing option all adds up to one delicious cup of coffee.
My two suggestions, and these are only suggestions… I’m really picky about coffee: 1) get better lids. Obviously the best cup is ceramic, but that’s not always possible. I’ve found that certain compostable lids are less obstructive to the flavors. 2) Open earlier. At least 7.

My mantra: Support Local Businesses. There’s no better place to do so than at Drip’d! Chris & Tae put their heart into each cup. So far I’ve loved the dandelion mocha drink. Great chocolate taste w/​out overpowering w/​the choco.
Leave your egos at the door, and ask the purveyors for suggestions on concoctions. And stop it with all your nonfat soy latte orders!

Don’t let the cleaning supplies in the front of the store trick you — this is a great addition to the neighborhood; I hope they thrive. The coffee is well balanced from sight glass; they have good milk and steaming technique. The choose you’re own bean for pour over is a little over the top, but I guess that goes with the artisan coffee movement.
I live on 10^th ave and wish we had a mid block alley to make my walk shorter on a Sunday morning.

I love these guys. They make me sightglass coffee and it’s always made with such TLC. They shoot the shit with me, pretend not to notice when the drugs hit my system while I’m paying and I am ushered out the door by my friend, and are just in general super genuine. We’ve tried macchiatos and pourovers and mochas and it’s allllllllll goooddd, honey. Give it a go. Promise you won’t regret it.
I think they’re only open Fri/​Sat/​Sun limited hours currently but they’re expanding their hours soon… CAN’T WAIT!

Chris and Tae brewed me up a cuppa hot chocolate with organic milk and Dandelion chocolate. It’s a rich, flavourful chocolate that will likely appeal to dark chocolate lovers. (I prefer dark chocolate so I might be biased.)
They might be a bit tricky to find the first time – they’re in the same storefront as Green 11 (which I will check out next time!) but at the back. The shop is small but cute with reclaimed woods and handpoured cement countertops. The coffee is dripped and you can see the whole process unfold before your eyes.
I was pretty pleased to sponsor Chris and Tae’s Kickstarter for Drip’d and I’ve seen them put a lot of work into their lab! So pleased to see it in action.

I am a SUCKERRR for hole-​in-​the-​wall stuff, and I saw this on Unilocal a couple weeks ago and decided to drop by with my friend and Unilocal buddy Felipe L.
FYIs:
–It is a little hard to find because its behind some bleach shop, but theres a sign outside that says DRIP’D is inside.
–they do take cards
–DRIP’D is a way they brew their coffee through a filter, its VERY interesting to watch. I dont know the whole logistics behind it, but it’s intriguing.
–they use organic milk
–they only have a bench against the wall with high chairs seating about 3 people.
–they are quite advanced because they used an IPAD for cashiering
cappuccino ($ 3.75): 3.5 stars. It was a small cup where you had to put in sugar and cream yourself. HOWEVER, it was really good coffee because I have had coffee at other places where it was very bland. I could definitely taste the coffee from this and I like how I can adjust the sweetness myself. Latte art will always amaze me and theirs was no exception.
The owners were AMAZINGLY friendly and personal. They talked to us like we were friends for a couple of years as they diligently made our coffee. The menu was so adorable!!! I could not stop staring at it.
Overall, a really unique coffee shop with excellent customer service.
