He did a remodel of our home a while ago. These other reviews have his MO down. Very personable at the beginning. Once he gets your money, forget it. He disappears. A total hack who’s been getting away with this for years. How he has managed to stay in business is beyond me. The definition of a hack. Not highly revered at the building and planning dept we dealt with nor at the SF planning dept either.

Just an update. I threaten to sue his @SS, file complaints against him with the CA Licensing board. He has Civil and Architect licenses. Google the CA Lic Board and get his contact info and his License contact info.
He refund me but made me sign a doc to not file a CA Lic board complaint. Unilocal is NOT a CA Lic Board, so I’m bitching about him here to warn others!!!
Tips to others, CA code for financial fraud is clearly stated. if you have documented non-​response and avoidance of contact by the service provider, ie Hawk, get the district attorney involved.
Frustrate me that he got away without any penaly.
Stay away from this guy.

Hawk is great. He just helped us at our current remodel project and gave great advice for knocking out some load bearing walls. He gave us options and the information we needed to make an educated decision. Some non load bearing walls can go right away, others make sense to leave partial wall due to excessive costs to take out completely. He was able to give a guesstimate of. if taking out entire wall would cost $ 30K, taking this partial would be about $ 10K. Totally recommended him!

We closed escrow a few months ago on an old two unit above garage residential home. Hawk was hired to perform inspections prior to close of escrow, create renovation plans, apply for & provide permits, and structural calculations. One of many examples of our project was that we had our structural steel beams installed to open our main entry, living room, and dining room. He is extremely knowledgeable in structural engineering. Thanks Hawk!

This is to make s «silk purse out of a sow’s ear», three condos out of two beat up flats. I am happy to show my plans to anyone who emails me, or calls…
The plans are ingenious. The price was a «deal». This sounds like a paid advertisement. It is not. Hawk does not know that I am writing this.

Hawk did a terrific job with the retrofit of our house. We called around to several other companies for pricing, and Hawk’s pricing was the most competitive. Not only did his crew do a great job, but they made us feel like we could trust them to make our house safer for the next earthquake.

The project started with an initial home inspection where he gave us an in depth analysis of the house. He later came back to take precise measurements of the basement floor plan and crawl spaces and provided us with an electronic copy of the plan. Portions of our foundation needed replacing and we needed to add a retaining wall in the back of the building as we live on a hill. Not uncommon to San Francisco’s terrain. He was there from start to the final inspections.

Since summer is approaching, my family decided to add a deck in our back yard. Since we have been going out less and inviting friends over more often, we thought the deck idea would be great for summer get-​togethers and BBQ’s. We heard about Hawk through a family friend. We hired him after our first meeting. It only took him 2 weeks to draft up the plans. We’ll definitely be referring him to all our friends.
