I started as sculptor’s assistant in Oakland in the 1990’s and moved into general woodworking and construction from there. The majority of my experience is actually residential but I find more design freedom in retail stores, restaurants and smaller art pieces for the home.

An amazing and skilled carpenter! I handed him a picture and a few dimensions, and he constructed my beautiful custom mug rack exactly how I had envisioned it. The attention to detail on the piece was incredible! It came out really sturdy and with the dark, beautiful finish I had wanted. Would recommend Keith for any project, he’s a really nice guy and an amazing carpenter!

Fantastic carpenter. Just take a look at Mollusk Surf shop or Outerlands café. Let’s just obsess over the latter for a moment. The first time I walked in, I was astounded by the organic feel of the interior. It felt so cosy, intimate, artsy, and more than a little beachy. The walls were what caught my immediate attention. Unfinished boards, unmatched, like a quilt of reclaimed wood. I’d never seen anything like it. I immediately and irrevocably fell madly in love.
Later on I saw a similar aesthetic in Mollusk, loved it, then there was Trouble Coffee Company and the General Store. It seemed that the entire neighborhood was on the same wavelength. It wasn’t until pinterest that I realized the thread linking them together was an artist/​carpenter by the name of Keith Aderholdt.
I recently discussed some design/​carpentry work with him, and it turns out he is not only an amazing artist, but a really swell guy to boot. Nice as they come.
