Michael Roberts Haircutters

Peter was recommended to me by my devastatingly handsome and always immaculately groomed brother. Since my first hair appointment with him six years ago, I haven’t wanted to go anywhere else. He’s friendly and always does a terrific job. I love that I don’t have to teach him what I want — he just knows what to do already.

A few things made me apprehensive about coming in here:
1. Peter (the owner and my hairstylist) is bald. Red flag, ladies.
2. This salon appears to service a lot of older clients, so as a «hip» 20-​something, it’s important for me to go to a place that can keep it fresh.
Thank goodness for Michael Roberts salon! I had enjoyed getting my hair done at Joe’s Barbershop on Market since I moved to the city, but I’m glad I made the switch. To be pampered for a little while starting with an awesome hair wash, then to sit in a room where a single mirror hangs to make YOU the focal art piece of the room is awesome. When I went to see Peter for my second time and he told me, «I think you should wait,» I’ve been hooked. He’s real, talented, and an awesome advocate for you and your hair. AND — his haircuts stay fresh longer than others because he really knows what he’s doing and sees a bigger picture. I think his haircuts are ~$ 35 and I know Peter has pretty exclusive hours, but I definitely think it’s worth moving things around in your schedule.

Great place — wonderful hair cut. Geo was truly a pro; attentive to my requests, but didn’t hold back with making suggestions either. I’m very fussy — and came away very happy. And it doesn’t hurt that Geo is warm and friendly and very handsome too ;-)

This place is great. The salon itself is upscale at a great price. Peter cuts my hair and always does an excellent job. He is always friendly and down to earth. I highly recommend this salon to anyone looking for a good cut at a good price.

I LOVE this place. My search for my perfect barber is over. Peter (the owner) is just awesome! He has been working with me for 6 months and I love my new look … which is much longer that I’ve had for the last 5 years
1. He has been nice about squeezing me in for a same-​day appointment.
2. His price is on par or slightly lower than other «classy salons» I’ve visited.
3. The atmosphere is like you’ve walked into a spa … including great art work.
4. Because there are separate rooms, it is unbelievably relaxing.
5. I just get a regular cut … and Peter always has a cheerfully mellow attitude. He clearly loves his job and is a blast to chat with.
Bottom line: price, quality, atmosphere, and service makes Roberts Michael Haircutters the best place to get a hair cut in town.
The only down side was that the street parking is scarce.

It’s a pleasure to sit in Peter’s chair and trust him to give me a creative style. So often I leave the faith of my hair soley to Peter’s discretion, I haven’t been let down. Perfect location, clean salon and great artwork. I don’t see a contact number but I can always get through using 415−861−1770.

Roberts Michael, located in the heart of the Castro, is a perfect neighborhood stylist with friendly employees and a sunny, clean location on the 2^nd floor above a great little coffee shop. George cut my hair and he was very attentive and read my hair right.

Disclaimer: I have a biased opinion b/​c the hairdresser is also my wonderful longtime skating coach but…
I almost feel bad for doing this b/​c he is super busy as is and I have a hard enough time getting an appt with him on Saturdays as is… but if you guys go to this place, get an appt. with Jay. He’s there Tuesday, Wed, Fridays and Sat. mornings usually. He did a FANTASTIC job on my haircut and my husband’s dye job! And I definitely will never have to worry about my hair looking bad at my competitions. :-D (Of course, I can’t say much about my skating looking great…)
