Nick moved to San Francisco back in 2005. With only two suitcases in hand, he didn’t need a moving company himself — so you might ask, why bother starting one? Well, he worked as a mover for several years while attending SFSU, learning all the best practices along the way. After being a mover for 3 years Nick started his own company with his business partner. Now with more than 10 years of experience in the moving industry, Nick and the team of professionals know exactly how to ensure your move goes flawlessly. A pleasure to work with from the start. Used for a move in SF. Timely, efficient, thoughtful. Great and competitive rate as well. Moved within neighborhood up and down multiple flights of stairs and had the most willing attitude. Highly recommend!

We recently used Route 66 for packing boxes and were very disappointed.
1) 1 member of the 3-​person team had no training — he was family of the owners.
2) Boxes were packed like we were taking our things to a donation center. Some boxes were just a mess of unrelated things with not enough protection.
3) They cheaped out on bubble wrap and used packing paper instead.
4) Artwork and sculptures were not treated right. A valuable sculpture was broken because it was thrown in a large box with other sculptures and zero bubble wrap.
5) Boxes were poorly labeled, some weren’t labeled at all.
6) When we weren’t nearby they stopped working and they drove up a high bill.
We did a local move with Route 66 a few years ago and were very pleased. Sad to see that not all of their teams perform well.

I have used Route 66 twice now. Once to pack my large apt. In Millbrae and then today for my Uncle’s move from Daly City to Santa Rosa. These guys are great! They call/​email you back right away, are so professional, courteous, and prompt. I even had to change the move to one day earlier at the last min., and they accommodated me without any problems.
Max and Noah were so easy to work with too. My brother in law and sister were so impressed with how easy they made this move for us. I would definitely use them again and will recommend them to everyone!

These guys were super helpful and very responsive. I think that we weren’t the easiest customers but Sergey did a great job through out the process as we had to reschedule more then ones… long story.
This moving company has a solid team of professionals that actualy operates as a team — very efficient and quick, no direction or supervising needed, just let them do the job. The whole move took less then 4 hours: 2 bedrooms, a lot of decoration and art work that is fragile plus one big and VERY heavy dining table to go up the narrow stair way to the 3rd floor. Nothing was damaged or misplaced.
Another thing is cost. I felt like we underpaid for the ammount of hard work done.
All together exellent experience. Will recommend and will definitely use Rout 66 Moving next time.

I used Route 66’s services to move from San Mateo to Los Angeles in early September 2014. From initial contact and estimate (from Nick) to unloading in LA, the move could not have gone more smoothly. Price was very reasonable and final price did not differ from the estimate. I moved a one-​bedroom and had two movers helping me on both ends. They were so polite, professional, efficient and gentle with my belongings — nothing was scratched or broken. Moving can be very stressful, and these guys did all the heavy lifting (literally) and made it so easy. I was soooo happy and I cannot recommend their services enough!

I used Route 66 when I moved into my new apartment in San Francisco. The crew arrived when agreed and moved my household items without damaging anything. They were patient and very professional. I am a recent university graduate, so the cost of moving was a crucial factor to me. I was pleasantly surprised by the cost which was exactly what was agreed to and reasonable. Eugene, the manager, was totally on top of things and very responsive. He was even available after hours to help me get my move scheduled. He would return my calls immediately if he didn’t answer right away.
The movers were great. They arrived right on time and worked really hard and were great to interact with. They really went above and beyond during my move. I will definitely use them again.

These guys rock!!! We were moving from the apartment located on the 3rd floor. This was the time when I realized that there is no way to move all the furniture by myself. Route 66 provided me the most competitive quote and the guys in the office were super nice.
Our movers were Den, Dima and Den Kul. They were the strongest and the most professional movers I’ve ever seen. They’ve wrapped all my belongings and carried them carefully and gently through all the staircases. Not a single scratch! The whole move was done under the estimated time! I have no other choice than give them 5 stars. Thank you guys!

In December when my family and I moved from our apartment we used Route 66 to put our furniture in storage. The 2 movers were on time, very diligent about wrapping and securing our valuables, and were very friendly. We had a lot of furniture and they somehow managed to fit everything in our storage unit. Recently we moved and needed to get our furniture out of storage and into our new apartment. The movers, Denise and Dima, were very professional, fast, and accommodating. I would recommend this company to any of my friends and family members.

I have used Route 66 two times in the past year and have been very pleased both times. This review is for service in October 2015 for an in-​San Francisco move, studio to studio apartment. The new apartment is a 4th floor walkup.
When scheduling the move, I got responses to my emails within a few hours. Perhaps I was lucky to move in the middle of a month, but Route 66 had a team available for the exact date and time I preferred (Saturday afternoon).
Both movers arrived 10 minutes early and called me to let me know of their arrival. At one point, they had to move the truck to let one of my neighbors out of their driveway. The team did so quickly and without any issues.
They were friendly and professional. There had been a slight mix up with the amount of boxes I had when scheduling the move and they didn’t complain at all. I packed most of my items myself, but they packed my remaining breakables securely, supplied wardrobe boxes as I requested and carried everything safely up to my new, 4th-​floor walkup apartment within the 3 hour time minimum. They were friendly, personable and professional.
I highly recommend Route 66 and will definitely use them again in the future. I have had some bad moving experiences and therefore, I know that this service is exceptional!

I used Route 66 Moving to move my belongings within San Francisco and was very pleased with the service I received.
My move wasn’t easy because of many stairs involved in the move. However, movers (Dan Oz and Dan Ku) didn’t complain once. I had some big heavy items to move through a narrow staircase and they handled that very smoothly not damaging any of my furniture. I also asked them to pack some of my expensive artwork and they did a great job so everything was delivered safely to my new home.
The movers were nice and friendly, fast and efficient. I will definitely use them again!!! Highly recommended!!!

* We wanted a big truck and we got it
* We wanted to use minimum hours for a 2BR move (3hours), and they followed our instructions to only carry the essentials and come to the agreement

Moved from San Francisco to San Mateo this weekend. One bedroom apartment to one bedroom apartment.
I decided to rent my own trailer ($ 49.00 from UHaul) and just wanted moving help. I called Eugene for a quote and he got back to me immediately. He was super professional and never let a call go to voicemail. I’m of the «trust but verify» variety and he was kind enough to verify my move date and time twice.
I don’t remember the two guys names as they weren’t super talkative. However, they got to work right away, shrink wrapped/​blanketed all my furniture (even my crappy IKEA and MoveLoot furniture) and generally treated my stuff with care and respect.
They worked super hard and had to deal with some seriously steep and plentiful stairs — all without complaining once. My entire move took 3 hours — start to finish. INCREDIBLE.
I cannot recommend them highly enough!

First of all, I NEVER post on Unilocal because I never see the need to. But u had such a great experience with the movers from Route 66 moving. Eugene and the two Dimo’s (two guys named Dimo) were so helpful that I wanted to acknowledge their service to any future customers.
I purchased a couch from Room and Board (R&B) that was supposed to be delivered by their service. When the day came to get my couch, the R&B movers told me that my couch was too wide to fit through my front door because the hallway (I have a condo) was too narrow for the couch to fit through. They told me I could call a moving service to «hoist» the couch I to my living room through my balcony.
I searched online for a moving service, and located these guys who said they would be able to pick up the couch from the local R&B warehouse and deliver it to me. They said they would be able to hoist it through the balcony.
Well, when they arrived at my condo with the couch, they took one look at my front door and said that it should fit. They brought the couch through the hallway and into my living room without getting a scratch on the couch (or any wall). I was impressed by their willingness to try and get the couch into my condo without assuming that it needed to be hoisted up through the balcony and this was amplified by the lack of willingness on the part of the R&B delivery men.
All three movers were very friendly and I look forward to using them again when I move to a new place I. The future.
I highly recommend these guys, and you will NOT be disappointed with thee level of service, professionalism and courtesy. Make sure you tip them well! They will earn it!

I used those guys — Max, Robert and Lasha — to move from Santa Rosa to San Francisco, and they were GREAT!
Showed up right on time, and got to work right away.
They work HARD! They are super careful with your furniture and will cover and shrink wrap everything that needs to be handled carefully.
They were so laid back, funny and polite, real pleasure to deal with. I talked to Nick on the phone to inquire about pricing and book the move, and he was very nice and sent me a quote in no time at all. I ended up paying exactly was he had quoted, tip included. And the price is definitely very fair.
Recommended for smooth, inexpensive moves!

Best movers! We were moving from San Ramon to Oakley… Pretty big house (4 bedroom). We looked around and got quotes from a bunch of companies but this was the best price! We called nick for the quote and he explained everything in detail over the phone!
We had 3 movers, Eg, Dan, and Oleg, and they were so professional, so helpful, and went above and beyond to help us. They got along with my puppy (she’s very picky!!) and they were just respectful. None of our furniture was damaged cause they took the time to wrap everything up.
I would definitely recommend these 3 guys for anyone that needs movers. If you want efficient, reliant, and legit guys helping you, pick this company!

I used Route 66 Moving for my recent move from LA to SF and Nick and his team were amazing to work with. I reached out to Nick a few days before my move with a rough inventory listing of the items I would have for the move. I hadn’t fully finished packing yet (c’mon, let’s be honest here. how many of us really finish packing hours much less days before the movers arrive??) so I wasn’t able to gather a final count of boxes but Nick was extremely accommodating and provided me with a quote and reassured me that the price wouldn’t change if I ended up having a few more boxes than anticipated. Most other moving companies I spoke with wanted to charge me at least $ 300-​$ 1000 more than what Route 66 offered and were not nearly as accommodating with our unfinalized inventory listing.
On pick-​up day, the movers disassembled what was necessary and wrapped up all our furniture in moving blankets to protect them from damage during the move. They also provided complimentary wardrobe boxes for our clothes, which was a nice touch!
A few days later, a crew of 2 men showed up right on schedule to deliver my things in SF. From the first box to the last, they finished the job in right under 2 hours for my 1br apartment. They were friendly, professional, and very respectful of my time and property.
I highly recommend Route 66 if you want the peace of mind knowing your move will go smoothly with undamaged furniture and no hassle of hidden fees.
