So I been going to to this Safeway since I was young I grew up in the Fillmore area. My mother worker there for 15 years so it’s a second home too me. Everyone is so sweet and make my shopping experience so much better. The area is a little rough but it’s not nothing I can handle so I still come and shop and have my lunch there from time to time now that I work in Fillmore

The reviews for this place are hilarious, but I’ve never had any issues here. I’ve only gone late at night too. Occasionally not stocked the best, but again, I’ve only gone at the end of the day.

Was staying in Japantown, needed some contact lens solution and this was much closer than any other place open at 1030pm.(.3 miles vs .8) Despite(and a little bit because of) the negative reviews, we walked here. Totally fine. One presumably homeless dude panhandling near the entrance, another at the self checkout. NBD. Apparently no review of this place is complete without talking about shopping carts. They have plenty of fucking shopping carts. There were about ten strewn about the parking lot and a corral full of em(about 30 locked up; it was late and there were plenty out).

Nasty little Safeway but they have quick grab section and it works when you are in the city. The biggest perk here is a parking lot which there is a shortage of in SF. They have one bathroom for the whole store, sad. Typical Safeway with a colorful cast of shoppers as it is in the Fillmore neighborhood.

since being bought by bought by Cerberus Capital Management and Albertsons prices have doubled, now they put big yellow sign with everyday value yet they have doubled the prices they have a monopoly in san Francisco, but you can go to the mission or Chinatown to buy your fruits and vegetables, dont go sunday evening as sheves are empty, prices go up at the start of the month, place is pretty clean, staff are ok, they don’t have as many staff on the tills anymore so expect to wait in line for 20 minutes, i am surprised people don’t feel safe there, just walk past anyone that bothers you, not many panhandlers there,

Dear Safeway, I want to buy groceries and give you my business but once again you don’t want to assist in this endeavor. To do my shopping I need a cart and once again none are to be found. I asked an employee about it and he suggested I look for one in the parking lot. Although hide and seek is a fun game it is not one I like to do when I am trying to do my errands — and sadly no carts could be found. Left without groceries and Safeway lost my business.

I do not like coming here. There’s a bazillion homeless/sketchy/weird people loitering inside or around the parking lot. I see them EVERYSINGLETIME I go there. I would witness people shouting or arguing with each other and causing trouble with the guard by the entrance. The bathroom inside is always closed. This being the closest Safeway, I cannot avoid it. They should really close down some of the small seedy shops in this plaza so to attract a different crowd.

The associate working the Starbucks kiosk today is friendly and provided prompt services. I like the efficiency and accuracy he delivers when taking and processing my order. Overall, good first experience here. If you work in an office nearby, you need something to munch and sip on; Safeway has you covered. From the Starbucks kiosk to the Deli counter, there’s the deli sandwich or a cup of coffee with a pastry. Props to Safeway for being here and a spot for consumers to do their grocery shopping. I can count on Safeway and stop in at one of their locations for my grocery run. A private lot is available for customers so there is no need to worry about street parking. Convenience indeed! Edit — 10/29/2015: Team associates working in the deli department were very nice and friendly. Sandwiches, Salads, Potato Wedges, Macaroni & Cheese and Fried Chicken are available. Hot & Freshly prepared foods available for lunch, quick grub or a catered meal for home or the office. I have to admit that service at the Starbucks kiosk and Deli counter is very good. Staff associates were very nice and friendly! Anything from groceries or something to munch and sip on, Safeway is here for you.

This place is convenient, fresh produce and clean store. It is located in a shitty area where there’s scary people around so I don’t come here as often. I would stop by if I need something and is around that neighborhood. Nice people, variety of food and things. You can find a lot of things here and the flower selection is really pretty! I was tempted to buy one but didn’t feel like carrying one. In addition, every time I come here, I always like to buy their sugar cookies! My doctor wants me to be healthy but fuck I can’t say no to their nummy sugar cookies!

Hire more than 3 cashiers, lines r literary back around the store. For such an incredibly busy safe this is ridiculous.

I just started coming back here after swearing I would stop getting sandwiches here. Been waiting 10 minutes and no one is at the counter. Finally getting served. Have to pay for sandwich at counter. Then continue shopping to wait In line to pay for more other stuff. Place sucks.

Bums, crazies, druggies. Who would have thought the Safeway on 16th and Bryant was the scariest you have ever seen, visit this one in the Western Addition. It speaks for itself that they have two security guys during opening hours patrolling in front of the store, and the $ 1 toothbrushes locked away. I even feel uncomfortable just parking my car in the(I give them that) spacious parking lot. Oh my, grocery shopping becomes an adventure.

The worst market ever in SF!!! Don’t go to this market, try to find any other but not this one!!! They don’t care about customer!!! Super bad customer service!!! It was my second time, average spent $ 150. The customer service to make the Safeway card is the worse!!! They first don’t care and the iPad to register it’s never working at least the two times I went there it was not working! The ladies employee are useless and they don’t even try to help to make the card for the customers. I was not the only one! And the donuts that they sell are totally tricky!!! The is not raspberry filling inside the donut!(See attached picture). Will never ever come back to this HORRIBLESERVICESAFEWAYMARKET!!!

Unilocal’s 365 Review Challenge 2014 #365 — #365 I like shopping at the Safeway because it has more variety then the other smaller stores around the area. We came here because we needed some items for Thanksgiving and they have way more to offer than Natural Market and Buchanan Market. I’m not hating on the mom and pop stores. But if you’re looking for an item that the smaller store doesn’t carry than your best bet is the Safeway. They have different sections for all your shopping needs like meat, dairy, seafood, household items, and produce. Some items are on sale and it’s free to sign up to their membership so you can save money. Sometimes there’s people outside that are less fortunate begging for money. It just breaks my heart that the economy is not what it use to be and times are tough.

I usually go to about 3 – 4 different places when I go grocery shopping. This is simply due to the fact that I am not able to find everything I need at any single location. Safeway is generally my last stop. It is a big grocery store with pretty much everything you could need. The prices are reasonable(for the most part) and they often have items on sale. You need to have a safeway card to get the sale price. The produce is generally reasonably fresh although they will occasionally run out of certain items. Don’t be afraid to ask someone if they have more in the back(they often do). It can get pretty busy during peak hour so be prepared to wait in line. Also understand that there are sometimes homeless people wandering around the liquor aisle.

They might as well change their name to Soviet Safeway. Albeit this location is not as bad as the one I use to shop at in Washington DC(the size of a Trader Joe’s, but half as stocked), this one is up for the challenge. I always find it interesting that Safeway can have so much food, but so little to eat! Here in aisle 2 you have processed foods! and in aisle 3… and 4… and 5… but not 6! 6 – 10 is frozen food and 11 – 12 is alcohol! No wonder America is fat. It’s never a good sign that the minute you walk in you’re faced with a completely empty shelf. Then there’s the issue of the shopping carts. I’ve never seen a supermarket with SOLITTLESHOPPINGCARTS! Few trips ago, we couldn’t for the life of us find a freaking shopping cart! There was no use even following people back to their car because those people didn’t have carts either! If shopping carts are like single socks, Safeway is the evil washing machine that eats them up. Keep an eye out for them before you even enter the store! I try not to shop here, but every now and then I need some typical American ingredients to do my cooking. They get an extra star because they are now stocked with Daiya and Follow Your Heart Vegan Cheese(The Daiya is in the regular cheese aisle). They have TENDIFFERENTKINDSOFEARTHBALANCEBUTTERYSPREADS. I didn’t know that many different kinds/flavors existed! So kudos to Safeway for stepping up their vegan game.
