Alison created the wedding cake of my dreams! People are still talking about it and that was 10 years ago. I can only imagine how she is doing now!

Allison has designed, made and delivered amazing cakes for me at my pre-​wedding reception party, wedding, and she made 3 amazing cakes for that, and then my sons baby shower two years later. Banana cake with chocolate ganache and the cream cheese frosting — yum! I am planning a holiday party with her cake as the centerpiece :)

Just a quick update– my wedding cake came out absolutely beautifully (even more beautiful than I had imagined!) and I couldn’t have been happier with it! I highly recommend Allison at Two for Two Cakes!!!

Salted Caramel brownies, pumpkin twinks, holiday pies, seasonal fruit bars and valentines day ding dongs. All so pretty!!! Perfect deserts to take to a dinner party or special event! Everything Alison bakes is amazing and a total crowd pleaser.

Terrible customer service.
We rented a cake stand for our cake. We were not told until the day of the event that there would be a charge for the stand, but agreed to pay it. After the party, on the day that the cake stand was supposed to be picked up I waited at home until 8am and then make sure I was home by 6 pm just in case I got the AM/​PM confused. No one ever showed up, we got no email or phone call.
Finally today — 26 DAYS after the event, someone finally showed up to pick up the cake stand.
I wrote an email saying «hey, you didn’t pick up your cake stand and I don’t think it is fair to charge me a rental fee unless you also pay me a storage fee for the past weeks. The response completely ignored my request.
Today when they picked up the stand, I received the same rude treatment.
I’m sorry, but when a customer pays that much money for a cake, the customer deserves the courtesy of a reply.
Your cake absolutely left a bad taste in my mouth.

O-​M-​F-​G!!! Best Twinkies ever!!! I tried the cookies and banana flavored twinkies, its super delicious and unforgettable. The twinkies were not heavy and overly sweet. Usually, I’d feel nauseous after eating half of those Hostess Twinkies from the supermarket. But I ate two twinkies from Two for Two Cakes within twenty minutes time span, and the third twinkie an hour later. I could have eaten more than three to be honest. It was hard to resist. I bought a dozen of the banana twinkies as a gift, but ended up giving only half a dozen to him — you can guess what happened there…
Allison is creative with her menu and presentation! I am excited to taste the different cakes and desserts she has in store. These are great gifts for family and friends — unless you eat them on your way like I did. Definitely great treat for yourself too. I’d highly recommend Two for Two Cakes to anyone! :)

Ordered a friend’s 30^th Birthday cake for 20 – 25 people from here, it came out amazing! It was a two tier cake with passion fruit on one layer and triple chocolate on the other layer. Both flavors were excellent, but I would have to say I liked the passion fruit the best (and I am usually a chocolate person). I would definitely order from here again, it was a truly memorable cake!

Alison is so nice and professional. She made looking for a wedding cake vendor stress free and easy.
My fiancé and I have been a little hard to work with, I’m sure, since we couldn’t decide about the design or flavors and changed the day etc. Alison never made us feel like we were being a pain, and is such a sweet person.

My fiancé and I have been cake-​tasting all week in preparation for our upcoming wedding. Two for Two Cakes was our final appointment so we arrived with expectations; maybe that was a mistake as we ended up leaving disappointed.
We were running late which was totally our fault but then got lost finding M&M Market and Bakery. It’s a cute place near Potrero Annex, just difficult to find if you’re not familiar with the area. The consultation went well and the cakes she showed us on her iPad were AMAZING, some of the most beautiful cakes we’d seen. She really seems to have an eye for decorating and for presentation, she also had a lot of examples with fresh flowers which is exactly what we were looking for. Unfortunately, things went downhill once we started the actual tasting.
Alison is the ONLY baker we contacted to charge for a tasting — $ 20. This led me to believe that we’d be blown away by the cake samples or at least treated to something special, otherwise I would have canceled once she told me. Previous bakers had presented us with as many as 8 flavor combinations or at least multiple samples of the various cakes, fillings, and fondants. Alison only brought 3 kinds; two that I’d requested (Irish Cream and chocolate chip), plus one banana cupcake. She didn’t have the Traditional Wedding Cake I’d expressed an interest in which probably would’ve made a reasonable choice. The chocolate chip cake had a very homemade taste and was the best; all 3 were rich and good but not spectacular. None were quite right so the conversation died off and we sort of hit a wall.
We asked about fruit filling and she told us that she only ate and baked with local fruits in season; our November wedding date limited our options. In an attempt to salvage the appointment we began asking for other recommendations and flavor options. She kept lamely replying that she specialized in «custom» cakes which really didn’t help. How were we supposed to pick when we had nothing but speculation to go on? Frustrated, I asked for a price estimate. When we saw that it was $ 800 (other estimates had been in the $ 500– $ 700 range for 100 guests) we got ready to leave and I paid her the $ 20. I expressed why I was upset (perhaps coming off a bit less constructive than I had hoped for) and we sort of stormed off. «Should I just throw this in the garbage?» she called out, regarding the leftover samples. No shame here, we went back, grabbed them, and got in the car.
Others may appreciate her local-​ingredients approach or have a better idea of what they want but that wasn’t the case for us. While she came off as a bit pretentious and lackluster, she was very prompt and communicative throughout our email correspondence. It felt like she wasn’t even trying for our business but maybe our expectations were just too high from her 5-​star reviews and our other cake-​tastings.

Alison made my wedding cake and it was exactly what we were hoping for — delicious and attractive, with a design matching what we’d discussed. We picked her because she was very practical when we first talked, jumped right to discussing buttercream when we mentioned prioritizing taste over some elaborate design, and had the best carrot cake we tasted. The cake ended up being carrot cake and chocolate chip (in different layers), and we got a lot of compliments on it, especially the carrot cake, which was moist and delicious. We didn’t have a particularly set idea on the design, but felt confident after talking with her that Alison would come up with something appropriate, and were pleased with the results — simple but very fitting. She was very responsive and pleasant to work with; I’d recommend her without hesitation.

Alison’s cakes are amazing! She’ll let you try whatever you want and really caters to your needs. We had her make our wedding cake and chose two flavors — bea’s banana and chocolate chip! Unfortunately on the day of the wedding we were so busy we barely got a chance to eat it! We never got to see or try the chocolate chip layer… but I heard wonderful things from all of our guests and I was so pleased with her delivery and the presentation of the cake… everything was so great! Also, I found her prices to be very reasonable in comparison to others in the area. Excellent excellent! Thank you Alison for being a part of our special day!!!

Alison created our amazing, beautiful & most importantly (!) delicious wedding cake! She was so easy to work with from start to finish. We had a tasting with her first and she really helped us narrow down what we wanted… then I gave her a sample of the fabric from my dress, showed her a picture of it as well as a sample of our wedding invite so that she could really create something that flowed from all of those things. She really delivered!
She has a very clean and easy style and everything was great. I’m going to hire her again for some upcoming events and can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!

Alison’s cupcakes are as tasty as they look. You sure get stunning design AND delicious taste with (cup)cakes by Two For Two Cakes.
I ordered a variety of mini cupcakes for a baby shower from Alison. Knowing that Alison only uses fresh ingredients, I thought Two For Two Cakes would be the right place to order sweets for a health-​conscious mom-​to-​be.
Even though I had to omit additional décor for budget reasons, Alison added fresh strawberries to the topping. That was a pleasant surprise and unexpected customer service. Also, the baby shower theme was ‘100 Acre Woods’. With the sliced strawberries, the mini cupcakes looked like little gnomes. It was perfect!
I cannot wait for the next celebration to work with Alison again!

I like Alison because she’s very professional. She returns emails promptly, listens to what you’re looking for in a design, comes up with really nice sketches, is flexible with last minute changes to orders, and makes yummy cupcakes and wedding cakes.
We knew from the cake tasting that the cakes were a little drier and was a bit more crumbly compared to other vendors, but we went with that. On our wedding day, the cake was a little dry and crumbly, but her cupcakes were moist. The flavor was good, not too sweet, and the cake looked fabulous. My husband and I just adored it. Thanks Alison!

I needed someone to make a very large, beautiful and DELICIOUS cake for my husband’s 40^th Birthday Party. Alison kicked-​ass!
The bottom layer was an amazingly moist, gooey, deep chocolate, chocolate chip cake with cream cheese frosting and caramel. The middle layer was the BEST carrot cake EVER with (it really was… I have never tasted one so good) cream cheese frosting; and the top layer was coconut cake with passionfruit curd and buttercream frosting (EEEEEEK!!! My mouth is watering!).
I have rarely tasted a large, tiered cake that was any good… but this one was SPECTACULAR. I was worried, because my husband is extremely picky about cake. Each flavor knocked his socks off. We even loved the buttercream (which I normally despise), because it was so buttery and well-balanced…no shortening crap in that frosting!!! We ended up having around 34 guests, and the cake could have fed 60. We ate the whole thing.
I spoke with several cakemakers before going with Alison. Most of them had their own ideas about what they wanted (I thought I was buying the cake??), or they were so conceited that they didn’t follow-​up and expected me to roll-​over and pay a rediculous price for whatever they decided to make. Not Alison: she was accomodating friendly, helpful and professional.
I discussed the ‘theme’ of the cake with Alison, and she hit it spot-​on. It was beautiful, and she didn’t have to coat it with that icky fondant to achieve the clean look I wanted. Looking at the cake, you never would have guessed that it was frosted with buttercream frosting. The finish was so smooth and perfect, and the decorations were exactly as I had imagined.
Thank you so much, Alison. You’re the best and I will never go anywhere else… I am your client for life: o)))

My friend D was in town visiting (same friend who liked Chow’s Kitchen) and went out to a club one night with his friend. It happened to be some charity event and they were doing some kind of raffle, and he came back around 1 AM to tell me that he’d won two prizes. The first was a gift certificate for a dozen cupcakes from Two for Two Cakes, and the second wasn’t really his; he’d suckered a girl into giving him her Skype headset, since she said she didn’t use Skype.
So we called the number on the certificate, since there was no address listed anywhere (on Unilocal or on her website), and Alison told us that she worked out of her home and would deliver the cupcakes to us. Sweet. We chose red velvet cupcakes, since I had a hankering for them after I had one from Starbucks about a month ago.
Finally, they were delivered a few days later. We looked at the box with glee, and each took out a beautifully frosted cupcake. We’d read all the Unilocal reviews, and we knew that this was going to be reeeeally good. On the count of three, we took a bite.
.and were unpleasantly surprised. This red velvet cupcake did not meet our expectations; although the frosting was definitely 5 stars, the cake itself was dry and did not have the rich, dense flavor and texture that red velvet cake normally has. Starbucks has her WAY beat when it comes to red velvet cupcakes.
I don’t know how much she normally charges, and I’m glad the dozen cupcakes were free. For the service and frosting, she gets an A+. For the rest of it, meh. This is somewhere I won’t be spending money on cupcakes, unfortunately.
3.5 stars, rounded up because she delivered it and was really nice about scheduling the delivery around our schedules.

Was looking for a place that would be able to decorate a cake for my boyfriend and thought I would try this place out based on reviews at Unilocal.
The cake looked fantastic when Alison finished it, plus it was bigger than I imagined for a 6 inch cake. Her customer service was great. Ordered the cake a week in advance and she was very flexible as in terms of when I could pick it up. The only thing I was not completely satisfied with was the taste.
I ordered the German Chocolate Cake and I would have to say I had better cake elsewhere. The fudge in the cake was good but there was something about the coconut filling I didn’t quite like. Maybe my expectations for the taste was high based on all the other Unilocal reviews. Not to mention everyone has their own set of taste buds. The outer layer tasted weird but thanks to Alison she clarified to me it was made of fondant which is a «sugar dough» and is just for decorative purposes.
5 stars for the decoration and service but 3 stars for the taste.

I had six days. to come up with the perfect anniversary cake for my parents’ 50^th… mom had been hinting for two years. whatever.
I logged into Unilocal,I skimmed stuff. I found Two for Two, and its unblemished set of ratings. I made one phone call…
and that is all it took.
Alison made the perfect cake, to my weird specifications. we were late to pick it up, but she was nice. I wrote the check after staring, astonished, at what she was able to produce. and then…
my husband took the checkbook and wrote something out.
and Alison came out with a surprise cake… for me.
yeah.
I am five stars satisfied…

the cake Alison made for my birthday party yesterday was… freakish and fantastic. my husband had asked her to make it in the shape of a pug. and. she did. I was totally suprised. I knew he was getting the cake from Two for Two, but I had no idea that he was taking the Dog Theme to the total extreme. my friends were fascinated, and thankful that my husband took the cake away into the kitchen so that we did not have to witness the way the sculpted styrofoam head lifted away from the tasty toffee and banana cake body… yummmmm and wowwwwwwww.

I needed to find a cake shaped as a purse per my boss’ instructions. I was in a bind and in a time crunch. I called everyone…
Alison came to the rescue. Not only did she make a marvelous specialty custom cake, but she went out of her way to be accommodating for us.
My boss and her friends were FLOORED! She said it was «Fabulous — Amazing».
Because of Alison, my boss thinks I’m a rockstar!

Ok, so Alison did it AGAIN.
At short notice, she agreed to make this fabulous cake for my colleague who’s getting married this week. It was Alison’s idea to work off of the theme of their wedding invites (sailboat). GENIUS!
The cake looked exactly like the logo on the invite.
Everyone was stunned.
Lots of «Oooohs» and «Ahhhhhs».
No one had the heart to cut the cake — it was too beautiful.

I am addicted to Alison’s cake creations. We chose her to make our wedding cake, and my now-​husband summed up our Two For Two Cakes experience when he said to me «If I could have a real wife, and a baker wife, I’d want Alison to be my baker wife».
I whole-​heartedly admit that we are mean, nasty food critics most of the time. My husband and I have snubbed our nose before at other people’s boring wedding cake. And then we met Alison over decadent tasting slices and we were hooked. When tastings with other bakers turned into a chore, we actually made up reasons why we needed to see Alison again so that we could taste more flavors.
Her decadent chocolate-​chip cake with vanilla buttercream was like eating a moist-​gooey chocalate chip cookie from your mom’s oven. The red velvet cake with cinnamon and cocoa, topped with cream cheese frosting rivaled the red velvet cake we’ve had down south, where red velvet was born. The german chocolate cake with coconut-​pecan filling and dark chocolate ganache was to die for… we had to have all three of these flavors in our wedding cake, because they were all so amazingly delicious… and were thrilled to see that many of our guests had asked for a slice of each flavor because they couldn’t decide which one was better! The best compliment we heard that night was that «this was nothing like any WEDDING cake I’ve ever had»
Alison’s creativity made the decorating process so much fun! We brainstormed together to find an idea that was different from all of the boring cakes you see at weddings, and then Alison suggested a candy «bar» behind the cake. Not only did she do a fantastic job on our beautiful cake design, but she single-​handedly created a gorgeous backdrop of apothecary jars filled with pink and silver candies… she even made pink rock candy on cute swizzle sticks from scratch!
Then, because we couldn’t get enough of Alison and her sweet treats, she made us a banana cake with coffee mocha icing for our next-​day brunch.
Four reasons why Alison is the best in the business:
1) Guests were literally begging to taste all of the flavors, and licking the plates of their neighbors.
2) My husband had dreams about the chocolate chip cake, and told friends that’s what he was looking forward to most about the wedding day. Alison was nice enough to make him his own chocolate chip birthday cake, so he could start focusing on his bride, and not getting some wedding cake.
3) We had to frantically call home from our honeymoon to make sure that any leftover cake was put in the freezer, because we were terrified that we wouldn’t be able to have any when we got home.
4) Alison’s prices are ridiculously reasonable. In fact, she charged less per slice than our wedding venue charged to CUT the cake.
If you’re getting married, or just want to impress a big group of friends, call Alison. Just don’t blame me when you can’t stop calling her.
