Cowboy Cookie N’ Grub

First of all, Cowboy Cookies are delicious! So delicious, in fact, that I decided to order them for my wedding to set up a «cookie jar bar.» Their prices are really reasonable which certainly helped when planning a wedding.
Wedding day came and there was a slight mixup with my order. However, the team sprang into action, made, delivered, and fixed the entire situation right away, which I really appreciated. The cookies were a hit, and since I ordered a few extra, I was able to keep on enjoying them on the flight to our honeymoon as well!

This place is way better than CREAM. We all loved it and would definitely go back. The chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream sandwich I had was bomb. That vanilla ice cream was some of the best I’ve ever had. The cookie bowls are also amazing. Good service and delicious sweets. Can’t go wrong here.

SERVICE & PARKING /​i happened to come by during the farmers market so it was slightly difficult to find parking. Service was quick, and there wasn’t much of a line. They mostly ran out of things when i came by, about 9?
FOOD /​i got the peanut butter cookie bowl with heath bar crunch ice cream for $ 4.75, pretty expensive… The cookie was chewy and not hard thankfully. My pairing was pretty yummy though, I recommend it. But there wasn’t much «crunch» in my heath bar crunch ice cream. Overall tasty though.

Not many cookies left this late at night on Valentine’s Day but the two we purchased we excellent! A bit crispy on the edge and soft in the middle. Looking forward to going again!

After some great tasting coffee at Black Horse, we happen to walk past this cookie place. With a name like Cowboy Cookie you’d expect some AMAZING cookies. We had the a white chocolate macadamia nut and a chocolate chip cookie. The size of the cookies are pretty large, but I didn’t find it to be one of the best tasting cookies i’ve ever had. I guess you can’t always have the most amazing cookies? For the price which was less than $ 2/​cookie, you can’t complain really because if you’re craving cookies this will hit the spot. I was expecting this, since it’s really a college town.

I’ll preface this with shaking a disappointed finger at Nabisco for the famous line «a cookie is just a cookie, but a newton is fruit and cake» (oh yes I went there and it only gets better from here folks). My guess is that person never got their cookie on!
So in the heart of downtown San Luis Obispo or SLO as I learned it to rack up a cool point or two there is CCG. It is a very small establishment with not much more space then it’s lovely cookie display, but what more do you need right?
There is quite the array of cookie crumbling goodness, but I stuck to what tickled the tastebuds as described in the following and came highly recommended by my brother in law who frequents these parts when needing a sweet tooth appointment.
First there was the buffalo chip. This one wasn’t my favorite as I thought it would be, no doubt there was no going wrong with a mix of macadamia nut and white chocolate and the cookie itself was break away good. I moved on to the sidekick next. I was actually surprised as this one was quite sweet and definitely showed chocolate chips belong with oatmeal. The save best for last cookie belongs to the spotted critter. Peanut butter paired with chocolate chips. The peanut butter felt like it was picked from the fields fresh and I really suggest popping this sucker in the microwave as the melted chocolate tag teaming the peanut butter aftertaste had my taste buds reheating over and over!
There were so many other varieties to sink into and I can honestly say it leaves me feeling like chip the dog yelling silently to myself «coo-​oooooooooookie crisp!»

I tried oatmeal chocolate chip and peanut butter chocolate chip.
Oatmeal chocolate chip had a great texture. It was a nice chewy texture. Thin. Good amount of chocolate to oatmeal.
Peanut butter was great flavor. Greasy as expected and not overly sweet.
Only thing about this place they could improve is their prep time. I went in a little after they opened and no cookies were ready. I had to walk around for a half hour. Worth it! But it would have been nice if they were ready when they opened.
But would definitely recommend.

Eh. $ 1.75 for a cookie. Wasn’t that amazing. Probably wouldn’t recommend it or tell a friend about it. I was the only person ordering and the representative working seemed annoyed or too busy to help. Honestly, if she was active as said, «here this ice cream is my favorite one» and let me sample something I would have gotten ice cream and a cookie. But instead, I just wanted to leave really so I settled for just a mediocre cookie.
The location is prime downtown SLO.

Dropped by and picked up two cookies to nom on while window shopping — snickerdoodle and oatmeal chocolate chip. The snickerdoodle had a simple texture, whole wheat flour! Not too sweet and nicely cinnamonny. The oatmeal chocolate chip though, had minimal texture and definitely needed much more brown sugar.
Maybe the cookies here are sub-​par because they’re designed to go with ice cream, but woe is me for one cookie went uneaten. If you know me, you know that is a significant statement.

Had these as commentary cookies at our hotel in Pismo Beach. Enjoyed them so much, we decided to stop by and grab some on the way home. Got 2 chocolate chip, 2 wranglers (oatmeal with rice crispies and coconut), 2 Annie Oakleys (oatmeal with butterscotch chips), and 2 snicker doodles. We are I. Heaven. I’m glad we don’t live nearby so we don’t have to go here too often.
Next time we roll by the area, we will definitely stop by!

If you want to see someone smile, take them to Cowboy Cookie. OMG!!! I thought Diddy Riese (near UCLA) had the freshest ice cream cookie sandwiches. No more.

And they now make cookie bowls! to fill with your favorite flavor of SLO Maid ice cream, which they keep at frigid temperatures.
I believe the owners work behind the counter. Very rare you get to look an owner in the eye these days. #highqualitycookies #fineicecream I love Cowboy Cookie.

Cookies are delicious every time but when we got home we only counted 11 cookies! Went back next day and the sales person believed us but wouldn’t make up the difference. We had to buy two more cookies because they were for my sister in law back in Los Angeles. What ever happened to customer service and correcting a common mistake. Sales lady said we should have brought back the cookies for proof! Serious! With our two boys (6 and 3 years old) that would have been an adventure no worth it! Remember COUNT YOUR COOKIES WHEN YOU LEAVE!

First off I will say that had I known what I was going to experience before going in I would have secretly taped the visit because calling and complaining to the manager would not do this justice.
We walked in about 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 8^th. There were a couple of people in the store but not busy. No body was at the counter but we could hear someone working in the back. No hurry, they have a service bell and we were just deciding what to order anyways. So my girlfriend decided and rang the bell. We hear a «I’ll be right there» and sure enough this girl comes darting around the corner in an obvious HUGE hurry. My girlfriend orders a cookie, WHAM BAM SLAM!!! opens the little cookie cupboard, grabs a cookie, literally throws it in the bag and shoves it at my girlfriend. «Anything else?» but said in a tone and manner that said, «Something more important than you is waiting for me in the back.» As customers we had clearly interupted something very important.
So then my daughter decides she wants to order an ice cream sandwich. You would have thought my daughter just stole her favorite sweater. Her face got borderline angry and she glared… not a good glare… at my daughter with this angry look on her face.
My daughter orders the the chaos resumes. She grabe the cookies out. THROWS up the ice cream door and frantically starts scooping. Well she was in such a stinkin’ hurry she drops the cookie into the ice cream which only fueled her anger. Again… WHAM BAM SLAM. If she could slam it it was being slammed shut. My girlfriend and I are just looking at each other like «What is going on here?»
She finally finished and we paid and she ran back to the back but HOLY COW!!! Again it was one of those moments when you think, «did that just happen» and «that would be a viral YouTUBE!!»
It’s unfortunate because it is sort of an iconic SLO location and the cookies are good but WOW… WOW…WOW…even 3 days later I still can’t believe it. She was the only one in there but it really wasn’t busy. If there was a second employee in there she NEVER would have acted that way because it was ridiculous.
Sunday…3 p. m…March 8^th, 2015. If you are a manager reading this and you think I’m just a hater look at my other reviews. I am fair when it’s good and I am fair when it’s bad. Good cookies… and either a bad employee or a REALLY bad day for that employee.

I love cowboy cookies. The spotted critter is the bestttt. (Peanut butter cookie with chocolate chips) $ 1.50 per cookie, big cookies too!
They also sell ice cream, and will make you an ice cream sandwich with whatever cookies you want. haven’t tried those, but my god.

Like a tumbleweed I blew through Cowboy Cookie N’ Grub and expected to wrassle some darn good cookies judging by the glowing reviews on Unilocal.Unfortunately I didn’t lasso the cookies everyone else enjoyed. Like most things in SLO I thought this didn’t quite meet the their reputation.
Don’t get me wrong, the fellows working here are some of the nicest people you’ll encounter. But the cookies just left me feeling like I had a snake in my boots.
We had the Wrangler = Rice Krispie and oatmeal, Nuttie = Choco chip and walnuts, Critter = peanut butter, Outlaw = chocolate choco chip, and the Spotted Critter = Peanut Butter choco chip.
All said it was pretty average and not the must-​visit type of place I thought it would be. It wasn’t for lack of having the right cookie because as you can see above we had a variety of cookies. It also wasn’t because the cookie was served lukewarm. Later I took them home and toasted them and they still tasted pretty average. I bit too tough and a touch bland. I really wanted to say «YUM» but ended up saying «HUH?» As in 4.5 stars, huh?

If you’re in slo, you must come here. No excuses. Just trust me. It’s amazing! Who doesn’t love cookies and ice cream anyways?
My experience was splendid. The lady at the counter was very nice and the prices aren’t all that bad either. I got my cookie bowl & ice cream at about 7pm so I understand why the cookie was a little stiff and hard but it still tasted like heaven. I got the oatmeal raisin cookie bowl (it was all they had left) and Heath bar ice cream. Will come here again!

Pretty hard to find this place since it’s so tiny but once I found it, I was so glad.
Chocolate chip cookie was so soft and chewy. They also heated it up. We decided to pair it up with Heath ice cream. Such an amazing combination. I loved how many different types of cookies they had available. If you happen to have a tiny stomach, you can go for the half cookie sandwich. That was filling enough for my bf and me.

I came here for dessert after Firestone since it was only a 5 minute walk or so. It is located inside this aisle plaza so you may miss it. I knew I wanted the peanut butter chocolate chip cookie but wasnt sure if I wanted the ice cream sandwich. Then I saw that I could get the cookie in bowl form so I opted for that. I got two scoops– peanut butter chocolate chip and mint chocolate. The ice cream takes like regular old ice cream but the cookie bowl was good too since I felt like Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory with the edible tea cup. This place is pretty average and it really isnt something you HAVE to try when you are in SLO.
**TIPS**
1) Peanut butter chocolate chip bowl is pretty good.
