Nails by Kim

I went here for gel manicures with my friend a few weeks ago. The people were really nice and it was cheaper than most gel in Marin, but it did not last at all and didn’t look that great right after. Would not go back here, at least for gel.

I just had my nails done at Kim’s! My nails needed to be ground down. I had a gel manicure that needed to come off. be ground down, & have a more natural look. It seems like Marin with all the wealth is a Nail desert. There are not a lot of great places to have your nails done. Kim was a breath of fresh air. She quickly got my small claws looking like nice polished hands ready for an interview for my new job! I am really happy with the results! I will be back soon! Thanks Kim!

I have been a Nail’s by Kim faithful for the past seven years, even after moving out of Marin three years ago. I can not get a better manicure and pedicure anywhere else. My hands and feel so clean after a visit to Nail’s by Kim and my nails are always perfectly shaped and colored.

I recently switched over to Nail’s by Kim on my daughters recommendation. I’ve been very pleased. The shop is clean and nice. Kim has a very bubbly, positive attitude and they always get me out in about an hour. They do nice work and their prices are very resonable.

Always a good day when it’s me day. Kim always makes my nails and toes look gorgeous. Three years I’ve been a loyal customer. I can’t imagine my nails without her. But they’re ALL good. Kim tolerates nothing less.
Acrylic, gel, mani, pedi, wax… whatever you come for, you won’t be disappointed. But don’t come late for your appointment. Kim doesn’t like that. :)

Went here yesterday for a gel mani AND gel pedi. Let me start off by saying I misunderstood others’ previous reviews. I assumed it would be $ 40 for a gel mani/​gel pedi and thought «Daaaaaaamn, that’s cheap!!! Hell yeah I’ll try this place out!» It was really $ 45 for gel mani/​regular pedi (prices have gone up), and gel mani/​gel pedi is actually $ 60.
That being said, I still had a so so experience at Kim’s. I scheduled a 4:30 appointment a week ago, and when I walked in 10 minutes early, they accommodated me right away, despite several other ladies being worked on as well. An older lady (pretty sure Kim’s mom) started wrapping foil to remove my gel polish on my hands and then got started on my pedi. I had to come straight from work dressed in scrubs so Kim’s mom asks me if I’m a nurse. I told her, «Animal nurse,» and she starts laughing at me and then goes on to tell me how she has never liked dogs because she saw a woman in Vietnam get bitten on the face, then suffer for 3 months and 10 days before she eventually died. I was going to let it go but later another young lady came to finish my toe polish while Mom starts on my mani, and they started clucking in Vietnamese and the only words that came through were an eventual «animuh» and «nurse» and they shared several hearty laughs along the way. I mean mayyyyybe they weren’t clowning me but it sure did seem that way and they’ve gotta know that that’s not polite. I was pretty annoyed.
The other main thing that bothered me was, similar to other previous reviews, there seemed to be a lot of rushing and rotating. Mom scraped off my old gel with her nails (which I read is frowned upon), cleaned up my cuticles and massaged my arms, but then Kim had me waddle barefoot over to the mani chairs to finish. Being a partial germaphobe, I wasn’t too happy about that. I couldn’t put flip flops on because I still had toe separators in. Girl #1 started off my new gel, but Kim finished off the last few coats, all while taking phone calls and working on the girl next to me.
Kim herself is a nice, efficient multitasking lady. However all of the rushing and rotating made for a much less relaxing experience. I’ve gotta say, this is only my second time getting gel, first time having it removed. I wasn’t a fan of 2-​minute UV lights when my last place took 45 seconds (minor detail). More importantly, my gel turned out okay but my pedi is straight up sloppy. This place is cheap for Marin but not as cheap as my cheap self was hoping for. While the pricing misunderstanding wasn’t Kim’s fault, I will probably not be back anytime soon.

I’ve been coming here for years. Kim has literally watched my children grow up! My Gelish polish lasts for weeks and my pedicures are always perfect.

First of all… JUST LEFT. Have a 5 o clock appointment. Figured eh 10 minutes early we’ll go in… Walk in and all the seats are full.
Whatever we tell them we have an appointment the chick cuts us off and asks what we need.

Whatever, again, understandable. We tell them well come back in a bit is that fine they say yes even tho they close at 6, they said it.
Have a drink grab a quick appetizer come back at 5:40 and the seats are still full, and this lady again gives us attitude!
My girls were even thinking about sitting down and waiting after they tell us «you said you would be back and it’s an hour after»
We say we had an appointment… Honestly it was a hassle.
FOUL attitude.
So when the girls asked I said no, don’t like they’re attitude and I won’t give them a penny of what I have.
Mind you I easily spend 60 – 80 for my nails with tip.
I’ve never walked out of a nail salon in my life.
Get over yourself snobs.
Keep your end of the deal and give us an appointment.
All cool though, tomorrow morning will drop some pretty nice tips to the salon that values customers and has respect.

Awesome service. I took my best man friend here and all the lovely ladies convinced him to get color on his toes. They were hilarious and totally talked up the pedi with him and joked back and forth about it until he finally decided to get his school (UCSC) colors. Overall clean and very friendly and prompt with timing. Awesome color selections and the massage chairs made the whole experience great.
My favorite part was the wax treatment. I had never had it done before and the hot wax was ultimately relaxing and a fun new experience. I will be coming back here with my man friend on every break we are home from college.
We walked out two very relaxed people, and one of us had yellow and blue toes and the other a dragon egg green. Loved it!!!

Kim’s place is great. Excellent mani-​pedi for $ 30 includes hot wax on your feet. Kim is super friendly and has a great staff. Hint: parking is free on side streets.

It is one of the cheapest places in Marin and you get what you pay for I guess. Have been here on and off for a few times in a hope that they would somehow improve. No they didn’t. Today was the very last straw. I made an appointment ahead of time, not only they had me waited, the girl who finally helped me had 3 other clients at the same time, 4 in total. She ran back and forth from cleaning my feet to coloring another girl, to massaging another. That was frustrating and simply horrible! Everyone of them seemed to be rushing around and looked so unhappy with the job. At the end I paid $ 35 + 20%tip which wasn’t much cheaper than other places around. Definitely not a good enough experience worth coming back. There are plenty of nails salon nearby. Tip? Go elsewhere!

This is the only nail salon in Marin that I go to. I am always pleased with the quality and the price. Kim is dedicated to her business and passionate about what she does. She has a large amount of regulars that she remembers by name. I have only had positive experiences here!!!

Went with my daughter to have our nails done and was very happy with the results. The girls were very thorough and pleasant. I had a regular pedicure done, and got a good long treatment with paraffin, massage, cut, file and nice paint job.
My daughter had an acrylic manicure. She came out looking like a million dollars. The cost for that was less than most salons.
Will be going back soon again.

I wish I didn’t have to write this, but I want to make sure no one has the experience I have had here. I’ve come here many times in the past. First the pros… Pros: one very nice lady, Jenny
Cons: I got the first toe fungus in my life after a pedicure there. Increasingly over the last couple years, the quality of the work has declined. On several occasions, Kim was very rushed and careless on my nails. They were scraped to damage, and the polish was creased by her nail. Not very nice. Not very clean. I would be very cautious about coming here. Can not recommend them any more.

I’ve been coming to Kim for years. The ladies are so sweet and the service is outstanding. I have been to many nail salons in my time but no where are they as clean, friendly and speedy. My nails always come out perfect and it is the perfect pampering treat at the end of a long week!
