Francis Nails

I’m new to the area. I’ve already tried a couple of nail salons and Francis nails is phenomenal. Great prices, great service, and my shellac nails haven’t chipped or peeled off. It’s been almost a week and usually they would need a touch up by now. The staff is friendly and the place is clean. They do pedicures as well and they did a great job. Found my new nail place!

Today I went in to get my NYE nails done! I showed the girls this photo of nails I wanted and they nailed it! my nails came out perfectly! they were so gentle on my short nails and they didn’t make anything bleed, which often happens at other salons! also they didn’t say anything negative in regards to my short nails. They worked hard to get my nails the way I wanted! I really appreciated what they did! In addition, they were very kind to me and conversed with me the entire time! She was also kind enough to not charge me for the glitter as a NYE present! SO SWEET! Will definitely return and highly recommend!

I highly recommend coming here. By far one of the best places in San Rafael to get your nails done. They do a great gel manicure/​pedicure. The nails last me about three weeks. Plus a huge variety of gel colors.

I had another fine gel nail experience here today, with a fun color (Gelish 02, a candy apple red) and expect it to last at least two weeks since these women know what they are doing. The prices are super low so tip well. I also suggest calling ahead but I rarely need to wait. It is well worth driving from Terra Linda. I enjoy conversing with the friendly Vietnamese women (two of three speak English well) or just quietly relaxing.

This was my first time visiting Francis nails and I was very impressed. Great prices for such great service, and I received the best massage ever!

Kevin does a great job with my nails. It is very hard to find a manicurist that is able to do pink and white acrylic well. Always on time and does a wonderful job maintaining my nails.

Really awful fill here and overall bad time I will definitely not be coming back. Kevin did a very poor job shaping my nails and when I told him I did not like them at alllllllll he basically yelled at me and said I should have told him earlier and then would not fix them! And out of all the colors, they didn’t have the one I picked so I had to go with a different one. I HATE them and I honestly have never left a nail place hating my nails before. And a regular fill no extras for 35 $ which I hated?! I was heated. Also when I was there, another customer was upset that this lady took too much off of her eyebrow when she was waxing them and didn’t want her to even touch the other one. Totally ruined my morning and I still need to get my nails fixed.

It was my first time here. Kevin did a great job. He took his time, made sure the nails were smooth and even. It was exactly what I wanted actually even better. The only problem that I had was that when I called to ask the pricing for acrylic nail he said it was $ 30 but when I paid with my card he said $ 40. So I didn’t like that at all. Before me the lady was charge $ 35 and she got acrylic nails too but she paid cash so I don’t know what is up with that. Besides that money issue my nails turned out good. Just know that what they say may not be what you are charged.
I also WOULD NOT go here to get a fill because I paid $ 40 for a color change and a fill!!! I basically paid for a whole new set. And when I came in I notice that the woman was talking shit. Just because your speaking in Vietnamese doesn’t mean that non-​Vietnamese speaking won’t know when you’re talking shit about them.

OMG. if I could give less then one star I would! I brought a girlfriend here for her birthday last August, it’s now February. and my toe fungus has FINALLY gone away. I got a pedicure with them and about a week or two later my toe nails turned yellow and had a funky smell. up until now! DO NOT GO HERE, they do not clean their tools properly!!!

Dear Kevin,
After spending a long hour and half at your salon, and having a hard time trying to tell you that I want fake diamonds on my nails, my results were less than pleasing. After the nails were finished, I was told that I was paying a lot more than I had seen on your pricing. I paid $ 40 for gel nails and crystals on and a tip. When I got home, almost all of my diamonds had fallen off and I’m extremely disappointed for the amount I spent. My nails have cracked and my gel no longer looks shiny like it did when I got it 3 days ago. I will not be returning Kevin, good luck in the long run.

Ladies! If you ever need acrylics done — this is your place! Ask for Kevin!!!
I’ve gotten acrylics at several places in downtown San Rafael and was (somewhat) satisfied with a place I had been going to for years until I discovered Francis Nails in a pinch. I needed my nails done but couldn’t find any salons with openings at the time I needed until I came across this gem. Kevin took me right away and the way my acrylics turned out were PERFECT. The best acrylics I have gotten in my life. Seriously. I got square shape last time but decided to get pointed nails today and let me tell you I am not disappointed.
Haven’t had a pedicure or regular manicure from here so can’t review on that — but if you’re looking for acrylics look no further!

Simply the best in the San Anselmo/​San Rafael area. I’ve tried at least 4 other salons since moving here last year, and I won’t mention which ones because I’m not one direct people away from a business (unless it’s just downright awful).
Best gels, best pedicures, best pricing, need I say more?

I heard about Francis Nails from a referral, but then referenced Unilocal to get the trusty stamp of approval. Called in advance to make an appointment. By principal, I cannot justify giving a nail salon 5 stars when they don’t offer any complimentary drinks, i.e. mimosas. Nonetheless, I wouldn’t anyway because the storefront is hole-​in-​the-​wall and the door was left open so there were flies everywhere.
The actual experience was lovely, but the longevity wasn’t there. To break it down:
— I got a gel manicure. It started cracking and chipping in a week. #unimpressed
— The pedicure, however, was GREAT. She spent so long on the scrub and massage I was convinced I was going to be charged for the deluxe package. The paint on my toes is hardly chipped and it’s been a few weeks.
OVERALL:
5 stars for pedicure experience and longevity
3 stars for manicure experience and longevity
3 stars for ambiance
RESULT: 4 stars overall (would come back for pedicure)

Kevin is by far the best place to go in San Rafael for your nails. He always puts his best effort in doing nails as well as his wife and niece. Because he has such a small staff, it is best that you call to book an appointment ahead of time. Towards the afternoon he starts to get really packed.

Pretty pleased with the service, I originally came in with some pretty jacked up almond shaped nails. i simple asked for a fix and he (Kevin) made them amazing. he was rather patient. i changed my mind about 2 times sitting in the chair deciding how to do my nails. I got a fill, gel top (black and white with a skull head, asked for jack skellington but the guy did his best since it was his first time getting what i wanted which was done by Kevin), pedicure (simple, just black. which was done by Kevin’s wife) and an eyebrow waxing (Done by a third person). Great massage with a pedicure, she really got in there deep. It was Fabulous!

Today was my first time here and my entire experience was perfect! I had french shellac/​gel done by Kevin and his wife topped off my manicure with an amazing massage! It has been, by far, the best experience I’ve had in Marin County. I will for sure be coming back!
