DVC – San Ramon Campus

For a jc its a pretty good campus. Possibly for the bay area, this is the only jc thats close to the standards of a 4 year. Most of the teachers teach at 4 years including Berkeley and Dominican, so the work is quite challenging. I’ve had friends transfer from a 4 year to here and say it is harder at dvc. I recommend. Im transferring after 2 years. :)

Parking here is free during summer session!
The facility is one huge building. I only took one class here, but I loved the facility. All of the desks were new, the carpets were clean, there was no graffiti on the bathroom walls. It was nice. There isn’t a café or anything, but there is a student store to buy chips and red bulls. I would love this facility if it wasn’t so far away. But, a lot of the students in my class that live in San Ramon like the convenience of not driving all the way to Pleasant Hill. I wish I could deal with the traffic to come here more often. But it really isn’t worth it. Overall, nice and clean is a plus!

I love this campus. It’s beautiful with great staff and faculty. I have never had a bad experience here. Whenever I go to the Pleasant Hill Campus, people are smoking everywhere and it just seems so shady. The SRC campus is in a beautiful location surrounded by nature and it’s a joy to go to school every day. Love it!

When I left my beloved job with Chiron/​Novartis, I had a lot of reflecting to do on what I wanted to do for a career for the next stage of my life. Since everything was changing-​from moving to falling in love to no longer being a single parent, going back to school full time was finally a possibility for me. You see, it wasn’t until a couple of years ago until I finally felt (thank you Stuart Smally) that I was smart enough, good enough and supported enough to get my college degree. I had messed around with school since I was 18, but never really committed myself until now.
This is my 3^rd full semester of enrollment here. This campus is small and new. It is adjacent to the police station and library. It is clean and well equipped. It is perfect for someone like me. I have had a few great teachers, a few average teachers and a few duds, but mostly, it has been and is a great experience.
There is no food service around or at campus-​unless you count the 7 – 11 type fare in the bookstore (i.e. chips and candy and soda), so if you come, pack a lunch. During the day, I am the «old lady» in class (at 37 this is funny) and I have even been older than a couple of my teachers (this is what makes me feel old). In my night class, there are a few other oldies (and older), so it makes for a more interesting dynamic.
If you are planning on going back to school or want to take a class and live or want to schlep to the area, I recommend this campus for sure.
