I spoke to Danny on the phone for a quote and his prices were the lowest by a significant amount. I stay on the southern most part of San Jose but went out of my way to visit his shop because of the quote and all the great reviews on Unilocal.I was not disappointed. Great work, low prices, and very efficient too. He also took the time to help me decide on other things I wanted done to my car. Overall I am very impressed with my experience here and I highly recommend this shop. Needless to say I will be back, thanks Danny!

Found this spot off Unilocal randomly and decided to check it out since it had decently good reviews. When i got there, Danny seemed very friendly and also very knowledgable at what he does. He worked on my car at a good speed and not like other places where they can take days. Great service!

Danny gave great service and not only did he give me a great price to install my Lowering Springs but also fixed problems prior that me and my friends had caused. He saved me from having to pay more money in the long run by double checking my friends work. His shop is definitely worth it. If your on the fence about it just give him a shot you won’t regret it

After some careful thought and consideration and speaking with friends and family regarding my experience with HTL Motorsports, I’ve decided that it was necessary to write this review. I found HTL searching for auto shops on Unilocal to have service done on my ’99 E36 BMW; particularly, to have coilovers installed. The coilovers I purchased are custom built to order, thus it wouldn’t be until 4+ weeks until they arrived. In the interim, I purchased new headlights, fog lights, HID’s, and LED’s to upgrade my front end lighting. A friend of mine suggested we install the lights ourselves since everything was plug and play and would be a simple and quick install. However, after looking at the equipment, we realized the job wasn’t as easy as it seemed to be. This is when I decided to call HTL to ask for a quote to install the lighting. I was quoted a specific amount to complete the job and was told it could be done first thing in the morning. When I arrived at 9:30AM, I met the owner Danny and gave him all of the equipment to complete the job. He unboxed all of the equipment, looked at everything, told me no problem, and estimated the car to be completed by noon. Shortly before noon, I received a call from Danny informing me that my car was finished. When I arrive at his shop to pick up the car, I test the lights and notice that #1 the fog lights weren’t working and #2 the turn signals were hyperflashing for which I provided Danny resistors to install to correct this problem. Mind you, Danny mentioned NOT ONE WORD of this when he called to inform me that my car was finished, nor did he mention it upon my arrival to pick up the car. When I brought these issues to Danny’s attention, he immediately became defensive and stated that he completed his job which was to simply install the HID’s on the headlights and the fog lights (which did not work!). Furthermore, he proceeded to blame my friend and I for having done something to compromise the fog lights prior to bringing the car into the shop. The way he spoke to us was not only rude and condescending, but he showed a complete lack of respect for me as a customer. I do understand how he could be frustrated. He quoted me for an hour of work that essentially took him 3 hours to do. HOWEVER, as a registered nurse, I know what it’s like to feel frustration in the workplace, BUT no matter what I may feel, I know that it is my responsibility to uphold a level of professionalism when dealing with my clients. The same goes for Danny as a business owner. Under NO means at all is it ok to vent your frustrations by yelling and placing blame on your customers for your inability to get the work you quoted completed. It is not my fault that he underestimated/​underquoted the time/​effort needed to for him to complete the job. Nor is it my fault for his lack of knowledge regarding this type of install on my particular vehicle. As it turns out, the fog lights wouldn’t work because the headlights were missing high beam bulbs (NOT as a result of something done to them prior to bringing the car in), yet instead of calling me and informing me of this, he took it upon himself to buy the cheapest H1 high beam bulbs he could find and charge me for them. The APPROPRIATE thing to do would have been to call me, inform me of the issue, and allow me to pick some up myself; ones of my choosing, OR at the very least tell me what he could offer w/​pricing. In addition, he increased the labor charge for installing the resistors on the turn signals. IF there was a problem with installing the resistors for the original quoted price as discussed initially, WHY the heck was this not brought to my attention when we unboxed all of the equipment when I dropped off the car and went over what needed to be done??? As for the fog lights, he basically charged me extra to search online on one of the BMW forums to figure out why his install didn’t work. At this point, he just started throwing in extra charges for time lost due to his incompetence. In the end, Danny charged me 80% more than what he originally quoted me over the phone to fully complete the job. But here’s the kicker… HTL wasn’t even the lowest quote I received to have the job completed. Platinum Autoworks quoted me less. Why then you ask, would I have the job done at HTL when I could have gone to Platinum Autoworks, where not only was I quoted less, but who’s core business is electrical installations? The answer is, I wanted to see what I would be dealing with at HTL prior to having the big job done… my coilovers. Despite the BS I had to go through dealing with this arrogant, unreliable and untrustworthy guy, I’m glad I now know that he is not worthy of my business. I will GLADLY pay a higher price to deal with a business who will not only stand by their work, but also their word. And most importantly, someone who knows that the people who make their business possible, their clients, deserve to be treated with respect. Good riddance Danny!

Bought an HID kit online trying to change my headlights, but when I saw the instruction, I decided to let someone professional take care of it. Found this place, and just drove over without an appointment. Danny was able to change my lights in a pretty short time.
In the mean time, he gave me some recommendation for the modification of my car and buying the parts. He is very patience and knowledgeable, and not trying to made me change every single parts of my car like some other mechanics.
I will be back for more modifications in the future, once I got my coilovers…

Second time I went to HTL to have Danny work on my ride.
I have to say, Danny is super knowledgeable and skilled when it comes to automotive upgrades.
Usually a shop will tell you to wait in the waiting room where you cant see what the tech is doing to your car but I was able to watch Danny do work on my car which is a big plus for me!
Competitive pricing compared to other places but top-​grade work being done here, I will see you soon for the next mod.

Been to alot of the shops in the area, but danny does the best work, and cheaper than any other shop.

I went to Danny’s shop again this time, for my BMW 135i. I needed to get the codes looked at and a general inspection on the state of my car.
As per usual, Danny was friendly, relaxed and knowledgeable. I’ll make these points:
1) Danny’s specialty is stance, suspension and show cars. You need a certain race or show car set up he’ll do it.
2) His inspection is top notch. I took my car for a pre-​purchase inspection at another shop and they didn’t point out a whole bunch of things (especially suspension related) that Danny did.
3) Danny’s labour is very competitively and fairly priced. He will spend a lot of time on your car to ensure everything is nice and then give you a bill that would be half or a third of most competitor’s shops.
4) Danny likes to work on nice cars. If you are a car enthusiast, if you’re a DIY’r, if you’re just a car lover — Danny’s someone you can vibe with. He won’t rip you off. He won’t dismiss your concerns when you bring a car in for repair.
I’ve only seen Danny work on my car (german) but I see he does a lot f Japanese cars (mitsubishis, hyundais, hondas, nissans). I trust him completely to give me a great deal and great advice everytime I go to him.

Danny is awesome! I drive by one day trying to install the cold air intake and lowering springs, and after a week I stop by second time install the muffler, and it needs a little bent and adjustment. He did a good job on both! I’ll go back again for sure!

I brought my E60 M5 here to get racing brake fluid installed. Danny was professional, quick, and offered a very competitive price compared to three other garages I called. There was no up selling and I was only recommended what was needed for the car.

After owning Buddy Club N+ Dampen coilovers for over 5 years now, they started to go nuts and clunk over ever bit of crappy road both Norcal and Socal had to offer. Finally, I gave up trying to diagnose it myself as I didn’t have the necessary tools to even check the system fully. I checked Unilocal and followed through with HTL /​Danny.
He quoted me a fairly inexpensive price to get the coilover checked out and I also added in height adjustment.
I got there late by 15 minutes, sorry Danny, but that was the dealership’s fault for lagging. Anyways, got there, he greeted me outside and drove my car around to check the noise.
He assessed the noise as something lose and just needs tighten. During the initial progress he found the true cause of the issue and it was a blown shock.
He did a work-​around to fix my shock as I still had my stock shocks in the car.
After his initial job, the height adjusted… my car rides smooth as ever.

first experience was good. brought my car in for some add-​on parts. seems knowledgable and efficient. pretty good with pricing chill guy. once everything is finished took me on a test drive. he drove a little aggressive over a ditch scraped the bottom right lip. keep in mind this is a new car. I let it go because I figured it’s probably bound to happen to me someday. didn’t mind too much that he had the first crack at it. once he got out of the drivers seat I noticed some grease stains from his uniform rubbed off on the fabric seats as well as the fabric door panel. he was good with helping me clean with some solution.
second time around Danny decided he didn’t want my business due to liability issues because I asked him couple questions about me noticing that part of my bumper was sticking out slightly and my after market tail light didn’t fit the way I wanted to. keep in mind I was just asking questions in regards to issues that had nothing to do with his work on the car. I suppose he thought I was too detail oriented and didn’t want to be liable for any «scratches» that I might notice after he worked (install backup camera) on my car. one might ask themselves why would there be scratches after installing a camera.
couple negative takeaways: seems like Danny have a history of turning customers away and business down when it comes to liability issues. does not keep it hygienic when driving customers vehicle. also sounds a little rude on the phone.

the reviews are true danny is a great mechanic! resonable prices and great customer service this is the go to guy for all your car customizing needs! went to him to install drop springs on my 08 gti and he noticed my shitty attempt at removing a scratch on my paint. danny went and polished and buffed the scratch out and didnt even charge me for it. great guy honest business!

Lucky to find this gem of a mechanic — thank you Unilocal!Had my oil changed, my brake fluid flushed and two of my brake lights replaced for an extremely reasonable price in under 30 minutes.
Danny is a great guy and an obviously skilled mechanic. He was even eager to share his insights on what needed to be fixed, why and what I should look for in the future.
He runs this place by himself and I’m thoroughly impressed with his quick work and awesome attitude. I’ll definitely be coming back for my regular checkups and any other repairs I may need.

I couldn’t trust my old shady mechanic anymore. Found a better one.

Danny can get it done, but I really feel like it depends on what job (s) you’re asking to get done.
My first experience was going here to an oil change. Brought in my own oil + oem filter and he had it done quick and for $ 20. Quite reasonable. However I left with some disappointment that he did not provide me a work order as proof the job was done. I mean… this is basic stuff and a customer should receive for his/​her records. Also there was some oil on the steering wheel he warned me before getting in, but didn’t clean off. Also, when I checked the oil level even on cold start, the level was high. I called Danny up one day to let him know this and he mentioned, that can’t be right. that he remember he did it correctly and it’s ok to be above level because on a turbo engine it’ll just burn off. Ok so I let it slide.
Next experience was better. He changed out my end links, transmission mount, and added a master cylinder brace. I was happy with the work. No issues here.
Last two separate requests via email, he totally blew me off and just said he could not do the jobs. Reply was «sorry we have to decline» 1) to simply swap my TMIC back to the stock one 2) to install steering bushings and bracket. It’s like purposely denying my business as if I didn’t something wrong.
I think what scared him is I mentioned I’ll be taking my car in for warranty work — I had concern as the car would idle funny sometimes, and I’d see black smoke out my tailpipe sometimes. Before even considering warranty work, I had my car compression, leak down tested at another shop. apparently my car was leaking a little above average oil on ¾ pistons ~12% average between the 3 combined. My car has been driven conservatively with pulls here and there, and haven’t tracked it. After the dealership service took a look, I had oil in my inter-​cooler, and they noticed my oil level was above norm. I now go back to my most recent oil change, which was with Danny, and have reason to believe it this may be the cause. Even the dealership mentioned it’s better to be a little below level, than over it.
It’s disappointing, and though I don’t blame him for not wanting to be liable for anything it all goes back to the first oil change experience and job. It’s also disappointing to get his denial to provide me service recently. I’ll likely end my business with him and go to my other mechanic which is fully staffed, highly Unilocal reviewed, and has better customer service.
However don’t take this as him being a horrible mechanic or shop, just be aware that despite 5 stars majority, this is an example when you want to have some caution and make sure to look out for yourself and your vehicle no matter where you take it.
***Unless it’s mentioned by your car maker’s manual don’t ever let ANY mechanic overfill your engine oil, or ever tell you it’s OK. It’s BS.***

I’ve worked in the automotive business in the past and I used to do much of my own maintenance work, but that is in the past and I don’t have time for that anymore. The money saved just isn’t as gratifying as it used to be as my priorities have shifted over the last decade. After all, time is money. That’s why I brought it to HTL. Danny worked on my car a few times already. What I like best about him is he is friendly and actually shows you and educates you on what he is working on and what parts need attention. That is, if you show interest like I did.
He has years of knowledge and expertise in the automotive repair industry, specifically imports (Japanese, and from the reviews it seems German as well), and his prices are unbeatable.
My car has a custom set up so I look for shops that specialize in more than just the norm. Problem is, most of them charge too much. Danny took care of me and so far the services included basic maintenance and aftermarket parts installation/​adjustment.
After years of roaming aimlessly for a «home shop» around my neighborhood, it is safe to say I’ll be frequenting HTL Motorsports. I recommended my mom to this shop after my last visit. I don’t take my mom to just ANY shop. Nuff said!
