These guys had their licensed revoked in California and because they can’t do business here have opened up another company in Woodlands Texas with an almost identical name.

Update as of 9÷19÷2014
No one has contacted me as of today. Filing complaint with BBB, State Contractors Licensing Board, and local DA office. They have still not paid their supplier, and the mechanics lien is in the works.
I had a new roof installed in June 2014. Paid in full in June 2014. I am now being threatened with a lien on my home because The Home Improvement Source has not paid their supplier.
After 6 hours of phone calls visiting addresses that are vacant, I have yet to talk to anyone that works for them. If you have work done by them, make sure you get a signed notice of release before you pay them.
I am not sure someone could pay me to use this firm again.

A mixed bag, with the negatives outweighing the positives. We had a new roof put on, house painted and solar added. The new roof and painting were actually both very good. The solar portion of the project took months longer than projected. While that in and of itself is not awful the fact that my husband had to do some of the work to get the job done, is what ruined it for us. The electrical set up/​installation was done 100% by my husband. The expectation from THIS is that he would do it. They took advantage of my husband’s expertise.
With regard to customer service; very disappointing on many levels. Patrick would show up unannounced needing additional papers signed, etc. He would no show or be late for appointments. The whole paperwork process to far longer than it should have. The office staff, Michelle – worst communicator ever. I constantly needed to get clarification on things because of her lack of explanation. Her emails «misfired» and my husband received several emails meant for other people. Her reasons were silly – apparently she doesn’t realize that my husband is an engineer, while everyone else at the company took advantage of it.
Don is awesome. I don’t know if he is the owner or the project manager. If he is the owner than he has a lot to work on with the people that work for him. If he is the project manager, he did a great job considering the other employees.
With all due respect, I really do not care that Patrick has an Master’s Degree. We happen to have a few of those in our house as well. We don’t throw that around as a reason to be trusted. While I suppose it can be an indication of a person’s knowledge, in this case it didn’t help.
We will not recommend THIS to any of our family and friends. Quite unfortunate.

My experience with The Home Improvement Source has been exceptional. I was referred to them by a business associate. I called Bob on a Wed. night and by Thursday mid-​morning he was at my front door.
Great product, nice roofing system, and the right price-​point. I was in a pretty tight time-​frame and needed it completed a.s.a.p. and they began work the following week.
Their removal, wood replacement, and installation teams were fast, efficient, and left no debris or mess behind. After the job was complete Don came out to inspect the work and ensure I was satisfied.
Professional and personal. A business i’m sure to recommend to others.

T.H.I.S. was professional from the setting of the appointment, roof estimate to the roof installation. We loved our salesperson, Tim Gentile, as he was knowledgeable and personable. Also enjoyed working with Don Spingola and team, and Bob Cardoza. Although the job took longer than expected by a few days, we are very happy with our roof.

They installed new roof for us and our neighbor. The job was done within expected time and so far I have not found any problem. They also installed new ventilation for garage and attic, which was nice, and arranged for the city inspection. The clean up after the job was quite thorough too.

We first heard of The Home Improvement Source (T.H.I.S.) when someone came door to door with the offer of a free estimate. We knew we had to get a new roof but were dreading contacting various companies for estimates. T.H.I.S. contacted us and Patrick was our designated sales person. He came out on a Saturday and spent a lot of time explaining their products, warranties, and even helped us choose the right color. There were so many choices we were glad to have his help.
They said we would be contacted within a couple weeks to get started but we actually received a call the next week and were scheduled to have our roof installed asap. It took the 3 days they promised and they were very careful and did a great clean up job. We have a pool so I was scared of nails and debris falling into it, but they made sure it was covered and safe.
The only issue we encountered was the extra charge for hidden layers of old roof removal which they did mention when you sign the contract. It was hard for Patrick to be able to see exactly how many layers were installed in the past so when they finally ripped it off there was a little more than we thought, but he couldn’t anticipate this.
I do feel they did a great job, stuck to their timeline, and were always there for any questions we had. We love our new roof from T.H.I.S. and especially the 40 year warranty on the product through GAF. Now we can enjoy this winter and the rains with no worries.

I had them install the roof, gutters, dual pane windows, and repaint the house last month. Once the jobs were scheduled they were quick and efficient. Also they cleaned up each day; Therefore no mess. The permit inspector and power washer did noted there were some issues, but a quick call to «The Home Improvement Source» and it was fixed ASAP. I’m happy with work.
The only negative was the sales guy was a bit car-​salesman-​ish, but the bid was competitive.

I am happy to say that I was completely satisfied with my experience with THIS. They did my neighbor’s roof down the street and I got the referral from them.
Patrick came out and gave me a good sales talk. He is charming, knowledgeable and easy to talk to. Bob was helpful as well, both with delivery issues, and when I came to the office.
T.H.I.S. was flexible in providing me with the roof I wanted, the services I needed, and at the price I needed. Workers showed up on time, and worked hard and fast, and left no mess. There were a couple of minor issues, that Don and I worked out, and were resolved to my total satisfaction. In fact Jerry worked very hard on a Saturday, after I had paid for the job in full to resolve those things.
Everyone was friendly and helpful, both in the office and on the job. I think that the most telling thing, about this company is that they work hard to make sure that you are satisfied, no matter who, what, where, or why, things happened, and that is the true meaning of customer service.
My” cool roof” by GAF looks great and I am sure will hold up well. if there are any problems, T.H.I.S. offers an excellent warranty as well. I would not hesitate to call on them again.

Review of THE HOME IMPROVEMENT SOURCE («T.H.I.S.»)
Mr. Patrick Roane is the sales representative of «T.H.I.S.». He knocked on my front door one day in June 2012 saying he was in the neighborhood to observe the re-​roofing work done by «T.H.I.S.» and noticed our roof may need re-​roofing as well. I have been receiving this type of inquiries many times before but I refused to go ahead with getting free estimates because I do not believe nothing is fee. However, at this time somehow I agreed to it. It may be because of Patrick’s personality which did not threat my brief. He went up on the roof immediately with his iPhone and iPad and came back to explain how bad the current roof was. His use of the technology and convincing words broke my defense mechanism. I am an electrical engineer and have very good understanding on various things including how bad materials are aged and deteriorated. So, the outcome of his visit resulted in allowing him to submit the first ever unsolicited bid by nobody ever done to me.
Before his submission of the bid, I went out three other roofing contractors around here. They were checked out with BBB, Unilocal,and Angie’s list. All of them were supposed to be good and one was recommended by my friend living nearby who had the re-​roofing done by the contractor. I used Angie’s list to contact those three contractors and two of them responded immediately with the estimate appointment.
These two were very responsive and professional on giving me their quotes. Now I am waiting for the bid from «T.H.I.S.». One bid was very competitive and the estimator’s walk-​through was very detailed. The other bid was also lower but with the external paint job and the solar heater removal/​reinstallation work, it became almost the same as «T.H.I.S.“‘s bid.
The deciding factor was that «T.H.I.S.» offered me to do the exterior paint free and the solar heater removal/​replacement work at nominal increase while other two told me that I would have to have other contractors do the work. In addition, «T.H.I.S.» offered me the window renewal work back to back with the re-​roofing work.
I know it is so stressful to get the re-​roofing, solar heater removal/​replacement, window replacement, and exterior painting done at once since I have to get the bids from multiple contractors. In this case, three contractors times four different jobs, total twelve bids would have been required to complete the work. However, I was able to do it with only three roofing contractor bids and two exterior painter bids in two weeks.
While I did not know how re-​roofing is done, I went out to the Internet to check the products, warranty, and processes in order to understand the bids. I created an excel worksheet to compare and sort out three different bids where different roofing terminologies were used.
The winner was «T.H.I.S.» with competitive pricing and T’s and C’s.
They did good job with my satisfaction. If I ever am given an opportunity to give them feedback, which indeed happened, I say «T.H.I.S.» needs to have a meeting with the customer and the work team together in 10 to 20 minutes before the work starts everyday to explain what will happen on the day of work. This will give the customer perspective of how things are done and what materials are used for what items included in the contract. Otherwise, the customer would need to watch everything from the beginning to the end to make sure the work is done accordingly with the contract.
«T.H.I.S.» has done an excellent work after all.
I think «T.H.I.S.» will continue do their best to satisfy the customers because they are honest and diligent, and trustable. I thank Patrick, the sales rep, Don, the job master, and Antonio, the master painter, for their job well done.

I have to say first and foremost thanks to Bob! He came by our home 2 years ago when we first moved in and provided a bid. 2 years later he honored that bid and we agreed to get the roof installed.
Mind you I live on a busy Corner Thoroughfare Boulevard where I also have a Fire Station directly across from me. So my home is always visible, so what these guys have done is really outstanding and made sure they keep a good reputation.
Our home has had Wood Shingles for a long time prior to us buying this 2 years ago. The Roof had no gutters, facial boards were of MDF and painted (previous owner was really skimpy on material or thought MDF can up hold in this outdoor climate) which over time they began to warp and rot. Which lead to several of our gables and eaves being rotted and attracted Silverfish and Termites.
The crew lead by Gary and some other guy who I never got his name (but he was the first guy early to the site) got to business and I mean to business! They tore down the entire roof shingles in matter of hours (a day in advnaced) and when I got home the entire site was cleaned and organized.
I sort of like my garage without the layers above as it made it bright. (I may add a skylight :))
Following morning the boards (we decided to go with the radiant barrier) and all of the materials arrived before traffic set in. They even made room enough for me to leave my driveway.
Gutters were put up in the morning and done by the time the first stores were opened. That dude was fast and on a busy street and a corner house like I mentioned earlier, he and other crew were done with a quickness.
Flashings, Vents all were painted and I have to give a big thanks for adding the Chimney Cap and removing the previous owners dishes (yes that is plural, don’t ask it was the previous owner)
On to the good stuff. Now I knew with having wood shingles there were always the possibilities of «hidden issues» with the roof, possible framing and due to its condition it was a matter of time of when these «hidden issues» would arise. Upon the initial perimeter inspection we could see some areas that we in plain site and very visible. But this is where the crew and their expertise and knowledge came into play. They quickly identified the problematic areas fixed it (reasonable and straight forward pricing) with a quickness with no interruption to schedule. Removed the Crappy MDF Facial Boards, fixed some of the gables, eaves, and other stuff.
What I didn’t realize was how much debris fell into our garage and all over our stuff. They did offer to clean my garage but wife had already beat them to it and we covered the remaining items. I will though have to go and take a look at my attic to see how much other debris fell through. With wood shingles and only one layer tons of debris could have fell thru onto the attic base boards.
Overall, the Radiant barrier is doing its job. It has kept our home comfortable and there are no longer hot spots. during the week of July 8 – 14, 2012 where the outside ambient temperature was avg 95+. The interior of the home was at 78 – 80. That Radiant Barrier works! Now I can’t wait for winter. I do have some areas has cold spots so I’d be curious to see if the entire home will keep its temperature avg. Rook looking good and is now not an eye sore (my front yard is though that is about to change)

I guy is just a dick. plain olé dick. Had an appointment set for 3pm– never showed, so I called him and asked if he was running late, he told me (he didn’t have time for me, goodbye.) Lots of contractors in the bay area. I you want to succeed you better stand above the rest. I won’t be taking my business here.

The workers did a good job and cleaned up after themselves. The warranty from the roofing company,“GAF” was great and GAF even comes out personally to make sure the job is perfect up to their standards. They did a detailed painting of all flashings for vents and sky lights in the roof and it looks fantastic. I highly recommend them for their quality of work.

Harassment! The guy came to my house when I wad raking leaves with my kids. Then for the next 10 days the company called 2 – 5 times a day without leaving a message. The final straw was they called at 9:05pm. I answered so my kids wouldn’t wake up. I told her how I couldn’t believe she was calling this late & that I was annoyed that they were calling so much & not didn’t leave message. She said that they had so many calls to make that it would take too long to leave a message for them all. WHAT!!! That is ridiculous & I told her so. I said if you take the time to call me 4 times in a day you have time to call once & leave a message. I asked to be removed from their calling list. So can’t comment about work, but their tactics are shady & harassing.

My roofing also came with painting. Once I gave the deposit check, it took awhile (three weeks) for the job to be scheduled. I would be nice, if the company let us know the status sooner. However, when the job gets started, it moved very fast, the old roof was removed and reroof was done within three days. It was an excellent job, with a good painting in an extra few days. Overall I’m happy with my new roof and painting. I would recommend this company.

Had this contractor replaced my roof and had a very bad experience with their customer service. Before you make the payment, everyone’s really responsive but as soon as you cut the check, no one returns your call. I have called more than 10 times, left messages and email, and just can’t seem to resolve the problem. This business appears to have been around for a while but not sure why they are not listed on Unilocal?If i had seen any negative reviews, I wouldn’t have done business with them.
