Travelodge Santa Monica Pico Boulevard

Was disappointed with Travelodge. I planned a stay here for my anniversary and did my research on hotels in the area. I called this hotel, looking for a room with hot tub and was told the tub in room would fit 4 people and was definitely more than just a bathtub. Upon entering my room, I found a jetted tub that comfortably fit 1 person and a second could squeeze in. I shared my concern and disappointment with the front desk and it didn’t seem like an issue to them, as they were not concerned about my concern. The room itself was fine, but I will not be returning.

I had an awful roommate situation in the neighborhood, and on two occasions when I called and needed a room immediately, the staff was sensitive to my needs and VERY considerate. The second time, the woman felt so bad when I informed her of my circumstances, that she hooked me up with a suite that had a full kitchen (minus dishwasher, but come on, full kitchen with granite counter tops!!!). It was better than my actual apartment! I was able to recharge my mental battery and get some sleep before returning to my horrible apartment. I moved since then, thankfully, but if I ever have an emergency or if I have family who comes to town, I’ll definitely recommend y’all. Thank you so much!

one of the best places to stay in Santa Monica very convenient. Pier just 2.5 miles away. staff are all great ask them anything and they will find the answer for you. Great breakfast you can make your own pancakes. would definitely stay there again. good price for the area.

The best a motel can get, but still a motel. I was in town for a show, and didn’t want to pay an arm and a leg in the beach town.
Pros: Super friendly staff. Very clean property. Excellent location. Good food near by.
Cons: Thin walls, wooden floors that mean the upstairs people sound like elephants, the toilet barely flushed, the shower had no pressure, and it’s on a busy street so you hear tons of traffic.
If you need quiet, this is not your place. If you are going to a show at McCabe’s across the street and need a cheaper bed in the beach town, this place is perfect.

Continuing our road trip into southern Cali so we needed a place for the night as we got to Santa Monica. Called these guys to make a reservation for one night. The operator (not staff at hotel) answered and booked us for a kings size room for one night for $ 155.
When we checked in we were greeted pleasantly at the front desk. Fast and easy instructions. Parking was free. When we got to our room we found out that we were right by the street so we heard ALL the cars passing by. The traffic noise was pretty much gone after 12−1am though so we were able to get a good nights sleep. The room was clean and smelled good. They also served complimentary breakfast as well. Checkout was easy as well. All in all it was a pleasant stay.

their cancellation policy is probably standard, but the manager was completely inflexible after i made a mistake on the dates when i booked and paid for my room on expedia. Basically I made a same day reservation and did it for one day too early. they called me at midnight and asked if I would be checking in, and I realized my mistake (and it was my mistake). But the person I spoke to said they had plenty of available rooms (in fact they had the wrong room type reserved for me anyway). So, they did not need to turn any paying customers away. My hope was that they would just give me the room I had reserved and paid for the following day. I called in the morning to attempt this, and the manager just refused. He kept repeating that it was policy and there was nothing he could do about it. This is the hospitality industry after all. And you can often count on that industry to be a little flexible and extend a favor to a customer. Not this time. So, this could have been a 5 star review to the tune of «I made a mistake, but they hooked me up». I told the manager I was planning to write this up, and he accused me of threatening him. oh well.

Had a great nights stay here in July Before returning home to Sweden.
The hotel is just a couple of miles or a 10 min bus ride from the hustle and bustle down around the pier and 3^rd street promenade. The area might not be the best late at night but i dont see any problems as long as you are cautios.
Rooms are large and they all have AC (needed in the summer) and fridge. The beds are ok though its not the high end luxury beds. After all its a Travelodge ;)
Parking is free and Closes by though ive Heard that they sometimes run out of space.
Wi-​fi is free (as it should be 2015) and the staff is nice.
The prices here are expensive as everywhere in the area.
Pro tip: Eat a divine breakfast at Urth Café just 5 min away with car but bring your big wallet as its not the cheapest café in Town.

Found this place last minute during a road trip. I got more than I expected. Rooms are spacious, bathrooms are small and a little outdated. Here is the reason I am writing the review, service it’s outstanding every single employee was friendly and welcoming, they almost made me feel as if was a regular here. The Hispanic girl on the front desk was very nice. Free parking and the breakfast was ok. It was a little expensive, but the employees make it worth it.

expensive, for horrible parking, almost never working wifi and when it works it’s extremely slow, and the rooms are dated. the walls are paper thin so you can hear everything the person next to you is doing, as well as everything outside.
the only pros were the location — fairly close to the pier and shopping center
and it was very clean.

This was my first time staying at the Travelodge in Santa Monica and it was really great.
First the pros:
Clean room and premises, flowers in the courtyard, vending and ice machines, laundry station (didn’t use but it’s a nice option), tons of parking. Our room also had a kitchenette which was fantastic, we were able to get a few groceries next door at trader joes for our stay. Location was close to everything and not a bad drive from LAX or the beach.
Cons:
It wasn’t really a deal breaker but the wifi is super slow, kind of annoying but not really worth complaining over since it’s free.
The parking lot for our building was kind of tight to maneuver in, and I think workers from trader joes were parking there which used up spots – but again, not a huge deal since you can park in any of the hotel lots as a guest.
The cleaners start working on empty rooms waaaayyyy too early in my opinion. We were woken up two or three separate days with loud thumping, vacuuming and shouting in the surrounding rooms while they were being cleaned. If check in isn’t until 3pm maybe start cleaning after 10am, people are here on vacation after all.
Overall the cons wouldn’t prevent me from happily staying here again in the future!

Terrible parking nightmare. No privacy from surrounding rooms. Under construction. Wifi does not work. Crappy local restaurants. Shower was steep. Not very accommodating when needed to extend stay. Dishonest staff. Will not stay here when I come back the Santa Monica.

This place is amazing. Nice staff. Great price. The room was nice and clean, the bathroom was clean, and it has a mini kitchen! If you want to cook, there is a trader joes right next door. The hotel also offers free breakfast, laundry services, and has a free ice machine. I wish we could’ve stayed here longer.

A step above for the price considering any other hotel near by was much more expensive.
The staff was friendly and helpful.
The room was clean even with a little paint chipping (I’ve seen that at $$$ venues too) and a wee bit of mold that most might not see.
The housekeeping staff was super sweet and even helped me with my bag.
I would stay here again.

5 star service and cleanliness for this location. I had a great experience and the staff is extremely customer service oriented. Highly recommend this hotel.

We just stayed four nights and we had a great time! The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Our flight got in at 8:00 AM (ouch!), and they were nice enough to find us a room for early check-​in, which was a life-​saver since we had to be out all evening. The room (two queen bed level) was large, very clean and in like-​new condition. We were at the back of the building, so didn’t hear any traffic on Pico, and got a nice breeze through the room.
The breakfast room (open 7 — 10) had all the usual stuff and was kept stocked. There is a Trader Joe’s a couple of doors down, so it was easy to stock our little fridge with snacks and drinks. It’s a good neighborhood, and there are some good dining options fairly close, and you’re just a few blocks from the Santa Monica freeway if you need to head east or to the 405. The beach isn’t nearby, but it’s not a long drive. We had no problem finding a space in their reserved lots (they have three) even when we got in late on the weekend.
And to top it off, they are right across the street from McCabe’s Guitar Shop (opened in 1958), which in addition to selling all manner of stringed instruments, hosts intimate acoustic concerts in their back room. We happened to get back to the motel on Friday night just as the small audience was filing in from the sidewalk. We went over and found out they still had seats available. So we bought tickets and found two empty seats in the 5^th row and caught a great show by New York singer/​songwriter/​rocker Willie Nile. Don’t you love it when things just fall into place like that?
So, the bottom line is we highly recommend this location to anyone staying in the Santa Monica/​Venice area.

I had a great stay here! It really surpassed my expectations as it was clean, simple, and again, CLEAN!!! I had to stay in Santa Monica for 4 days for a class and I was so happy to come here to rest and sleep each night. The location is in a safe and quiet location right next to a Trader Joe’s and a couple eateries. Convenient! My room had a comfy king bed, a sparkling clean bathroom, and a huge flat screen tv with great cable. The little mini kitchen has a sink, mini fridge, and a dining table to two. It was quite spacious for the size of the room. The room was actually bigger than I thought it would be. The only thing that was less than satisfactory was on my last night the AC started leaking a clear fluid (maybe water?) out of nowhere and didn’t stop. It was too late into the night when I discovered it and I was super tired so I put the ice bucket under it. I did let the front desk know when I checked out.
This has been by far one of the best economy hotels I’ve stayed at. I felt absolutely safe being a lone female. I will be returning to Santa Monica for more classes and I will definitely be staying here again and probably again. The price is right and I love that I have everything I need here! Keep up the great hospitality you guys!

A perfect hotel in a perfect part of the city. I was able to take the Big Blue Bus to The Santa Monica Pier and The Beverly Center Shopping Plaza. Beautifully apportioned room had tremendoulsy theraputic synergy with the ocean breeze outside our window. The staff was first rate in all aspects and the breakfast offerings were fresh and delicious. Plenty of food options within walking distance or I could choose from a wide variety of California cusine deliverd straight to our door.

Very nice! Clean, spacious and staff is very friendly.
Also, they allow doggies.

This Travelodge is the best Travelodge I have ever gone to.
Checked in and the person at the front desk was super nice and friendly. Very professional and with a smile. Made sure I knew everything I needed to know from the wireless password to where the breakfast room will be in the morning. Took out the map of the hotel to show me how to get to my room.
The room itself was VERY CLEAN! I mean, it was very well maintained. I was not fearful at all of uncleanliness. Well stocked with towels and even mini shampoos, lotions, and soap.
As I pass by the halls sometimes, the housekeeping would say hi and just are great people.
Checkout was easily and a different employee was there during that morning and was very nice as well. I really appreciate all the courteous individuals who work here.
My next trip to Santa Monica will most likely bring me back to this Travelodge.

Obviously, this is by no means a luxury resort, but Travelodge Santa Monica has reasonable rates, clean rooms, great staff, and some other perks that make this hotel a worthy crash pad.
Upon checking in, the friendly receptionist was quick to show us a map of the premises — three separate buildings with small (free for guests) parking lots in between. Our room was clean, and the premises are kept safe, using RF ID cards to enter your room and the locked hotel lobby after hours. They’re just two miles or a $ 1 bus ride to the Santa Monica Pier, with a bus stop right across the street from the hotel. Even if you have a car, it makes sense to use the free hotel parking and pay for the bus, as it’ll cost you $ 10-​$ 15 to park on/​near the pier.
They serve free continental breakfast from 7 – 10, and keep Fig Newtons, coffee and tea out all day. The continental breakfast included bagels, bread (with toasters available), fruit, cereal, hard boiled eggs, and juices. Free WiFi is available throughout the hotel, but I had a faster connection on my laptop by using my iPhone’s personal hotspot feature … #dork
All in all, a good value, especially if you have a jam-​packed itinerary (like we did) and don’t plan on spending too much time at the hotel.
