Airflow Heating & Cooling

Ray helped me on a small issue previously, so I contacted him again when I negotiated with my landlord to install air conditioning in the condo I rent. The installation went smoothly, with Ray taking great care to place the compressor in a way that would be acceptable to the HOA. He tested everything afterwards and made sure I understood what he had done and how to operate the system. He also noticed that the current air filter in the furnace was the wrong size, and told me what size was needed.
This is the 3^rd time I called on Ray and would not hesitate to call him again.

Called Ray this past Saturday since our A/​C was out. Left a message and was called back within 5 minutes. Told Ray my situation and he gave me some advice on what might be the problem. Pretty cool that he would try and help us out before even coming. Couldn’t fix the issue on our own so called Ray back and he arrived in less than 20 minutes. Ray was able to fix the issue and we were back to enjoying the cold air. I will definitely be using this company again for my future needs.

My elderly parents had their A/​C go down this weekend. On Monday, I called Airflow and asked them to go out and take a look to see if they can help. I told them that my parents were a little nervous about someone coming and asked if he could call ahead of the visit so they would know he was coming. He called ahead, arrived on time and did some troubleshooting. He found that their thermostat just had a bad battery which he quickly replaced and made sure the unit was functioning correctly. He then spent a couple of minutes chatting with them before he was on his way. He told them there was no charge since the fix was simple. My parents raved about what a nice guy he was and how comfortable they felt with him
I recommend everyone call Airflow. You really do not get service like this anymore and I want to thank them for taking care of my parents.

Ray was great! It was so hot out and I have two little kids and he was able to get me in quickly and was able to fix the problem with my ac efficiently. And the price was affordable for being a single income household. Highly recommend.

Hats off to Ray of Airflow! This past Sunday it was a sweltering 103 and our AC quit. It was operating but no cold air, just noise. I left a message for Ray at 3:00 and he immediately returned my call and listened patiently to my ranting. He was there within 20 minutes and started work on it right away. Long story short, it wasn’t anything mechanical. We’d been running it nearly nonstop for three days and it shut off as a safety measure so it wouldn’t overheat. He left a gauge on it for the next few days to make certain it was running properly.
We don’t use our AC much, even in Santee, but when we do on these few 100+ degree days, we know it’ll be there for us. WAIT — here’s the best part. He didn’t charge us one nickel! Now that’s great service. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone who asks.

Guys were prompt, on time and remembered the install from 5 years prior. Could not have asked for better service. Would highly recommend!

Ray was prompt responding to my request for a service call to check out a non-​functioning AC unit. It turns out that the problem was minor, and he had the issue solved within 10 minutes. He was thorough, kind, and took the time to answer questions other AC questions I had. It’s rare to get such friendly service these days!

EXCELLENT SERVICE! Ray saved the day! I would totally recommend Ray and I would give him an A+ rating if I were the BBB. He knew by the description over the phone the problem with my A/​C that conked out on me on Sunday the 95 degree day. He came out to my place in Chula Vista from Santee within 24 hours and worked around my schedule. He fixed the problem in less than a ½ and noticed another problem that I didn’t and fixed that too. His price was extremely reasonable. He tested my A/​C before he left — it is back to perfection. I am keeping his name and number for any future problems I may encounter. We called in Ray from Airflow to give us an estimate for replacing the entire HVAC system. He was prompt and followed-​up quickly. His estimate was much lower than two other companies, one large corp and one other small business. He and one other person came out to replace the system. He was on time and communicated his progress well. We were very happy with his work and attitude. Thanks Ray.

As good as it gets is right. It is such a pleasure to find a competent, prompt, efficient professional, even when the job is small. On a hot August day, my home AC unit stopped working. Ray answered his phone and told me he would call when he was finished with the job he was on at the moment. Thirty minutes later, he called, got my address, and was on the job, quickly checking likely issues. Another half hour to get the malfunctioning breaker switch, and presto, AC back in business. The price was a bargain as well. I will definitely use him again and recommend him without reservation

When installing an AC unit, he didn’t glue the pipes together inside the walls. Water leaked inside, down to the slab, making our hardwood floors swell & buckle. We had to replace the entire floor.
Before that & tried to install the unit outside with damage. Granted it was just a bent vent, but we paid for a new unit, I want it to look new. Or at very least, tell us about it before you install it.
**UPDATE** I’m not sure if Airflow complained about my post, or the photo I had attached, but after all this time, Unilocal now takes down that photo. It was a photo from this company’s website posting a BBB logo, when in fact they are not backed by the BBB. Furthermore, the BBB now states he (Ray) has been working with an EXPIRED CONTRACTORS LICENSE.

I’ve debated over writing this review because initially I was very impressed with Ray. I called about my heater not working, he was there within 2 hours. WOW! He said it was the igniter and it would be $ 250 parts and labor. I was thrilled. He went and got the part, did the work and was out within a couple of hours. He also said he could come back to replace the wall thermostat — here is the reason for the 3 stars vs 5 stars — for $ 75. It would be a «continuation» of the work he had already performed so he was not charging for labor. Hmmm… really? A simple thermostat that costs $ 25 at Home Depot is going to cost me a mere $ 75 with free installation. I’m confused — what is the additional $ 50 for if I get free installation? After that conversation I got another estimate on replacing the igniter — it was $ 180 — $ 200 Guess I should have done better homework.
Ray does a good job — but you might want to get a couple other estimates to decide if you are really getting a good deal.

I was very lucky and am very happy with Ray, Airflow Heating and Cooling. I called this morning and he was in the area just finished with another job, so he was over in 10mins. And 10mins later, my AC was working. This week in Santee has been super hot and I am glad he fixed it right away. Would highly recommend him and his company.

We just moved into our new home and realized that we needed a shed, so up went the shed and then I realized that we didn’t account for room enough to walk pass the shed ans A/​C unit to get to the back yard. We had several quotes to move it from the BIG companies, and then we got to looking for a local company and that’s when we found Airflow and the owner Ray… We read the reviews that people wrote and decided to give him a call… He was available to see us later that same afternoon… He was there on time and listened to our situation and suggestions… He then gave a a quote that was lower than the BIG companies which we gladly accepted and he stated that he could be there the following morning… Ray was early and started right away and actually did a little more than what we had discussed at no extra charge… He was fast, friendly and professional to say the least … Look, if you ever need a heating and cooling professional that owns the business, do yourself a great favor and call Ray Basso of Airflow… You won’t be disappointed… Promise.

Called Ray by mistake, however, it turned out to be a win! He was able to come out early on a Monday morning, get everything taken care of in a timely manner with great professionalism. He even showed us how to do the preventative maintenance on our AC unit to keep from the same issue happening again! I will always recommend and use Ray whenever I have any issues!

Ray was referred to me by a friend after receiving two other quotes to replace a coil in my air conditioning system. One quote was from a very well known company, the other from a small, local company. The big company gave me a quick quote to replace the coil and labor. The smaller company spent more time trying to explain to me why I not only needed the coil but that I absolutely needed new copper lines, which tacked on another $ 1000!!! I called Ray a few days later and he showed up later the same day to inspect my system. He explained that new copper lines would make the unit run more efficiently but that I didn’t need to replace them if I didn’t want to (could not afford to at this time). He sent me a quote 30 minutes after leaving, which was much lower than both companies. This was a Friday and he was available to come the following Monday morning. My air conditioner works better than it has since buying my place 4 years ago and I know I wasn’t ripped off and/​or didn’t purchase anything I didn’t need. In time I’ll replace the copper lines when I can. I trust Ray 100% and would recommend him to anyone. I even asked him for an electrician referral, which he gave me (a good friend of his). If Ray recommends him I’m sure he’ll be great too.

Our furnace died a couple of weeks ago and Ray was the only person we contacted who was able to come by that day to check it out. Everyone else either wouldn’t call us back, referred us to another company or told us they didn’t have any available appointments for a week.
Unfortunately our furnace was beyond repair and needed to be replaced. We decided to go ahead and replace the entire system since our a/​c was on it’s last legs also.
Ray did a great job. All the work was done in a timely and efficient manner.

Ray was professional, knowledgeable, and able to provide an estimate and fix the repairs the same day. His pricing was in line with another company that quoted me — although he found more things to fix than the other company did so he seems to do better quality work. Additionally, Ray honored a poorly worded Unilocal discount (apparently Unilocal personnel write them up) even though it was intended for a system install and not a service call.
Next time I need HVAC work done I’ll be sure to call Ray first.
Thanks, Ray! My kids and I will appreciate having the heat working in their room again tonight!

I really don’t write reviews very often but in this instance i felt compelled. I had the good fortune of having Ray (the owner) in my home for the purpose of correcting some issues left behind from a previous installer of a company that didn’t stand behind their install.
Ray was on-​time, very reasonably priced, performed the work very efficiently and cleaned up when he was done. Every issue that needed attention was addressed and after 7 years I finally have the heater working as it always should have been.
Plus…he went above & beyond to follow-​up with me when I called him a couple of weeks later to walk me through some steps to get my thermostat programmed properly.
Thanks for everything Ray! If you’re looking for an HVAC guy… I HIGHLY recommend Ray of Airflow.

We were having issues with our heater kicking on so we called Ray! He said he could make it out by 1 to take a look at our problem. He checked it out and tried to fix it with just using the settings but realized there was something wrong with the thermostat as a whole. He ran over and to his distributor and gt us a new one and installed it and picked us up a new filter! Now we have heat so hurray for Ray!
