Golf Rose Boarding & Grooming

Golf Rose just built a gorgeous new facility, so when I got my first dog, I decided to try them for boarding. My puppy was there for three nights. When I picked him up he had dried poop on his chest and collar. Totally gross — we won’t be going back.

I just moved into the area and decided to try rose golf grooming. I what a horrible experience. My dog was scheduled for 7.30 in the morning. When I dropped him off the groomer already looked overwhelmed. And the consultation that I was supposed to have turned into a rushed 2 minute what do u want done? You would think they would explain the different packages. The groomer was extremely stressed. And made me feel extremely uncomfortable when I left.
After three hours I called to ask when I could pick my dog up. The girl that answered said that he wouldn’t be ready until 1.30. I lost it! no dog should be left at a groomer for 6 hours. !!! Needless to say I was livid. especially since they never told me of this accessive delay. After going around and around with them. They managed to have him ready by 1130. Since my husband picked him Up I was-​not aware of how much he paid for the lousy job that they did. He was charged 69 dollars. I was quoted 50 on the phone. This is for a basic grooming for an 8 pound Maltese. I have never Paid this much. He looks like he wasn’t even shampooed.
Management needs to look at its internal processes. In my opinion this is neglect and they are definitely overcharging the customer and over working the groomer. I will be demanding a refund for this lousy service. DO NOT GET YOUR DOG GROOMED HERE!!! If I could give this review a zero I would.

I just noticed my poor review from almost a year ago is the first one that pops up when Unilocalers check out this business. I wanted to change it because I have not been there this long so anything I had concerns about could have changed. I think a 1 star review would usually mean a dirty place with mean staff and that was not the case back then nor now. I dealt with them for years through animal rescue as they contract with many suburbs for animal control of strays etc… the old facilities were substandard but the new one is large and clean. I see many issues with some staff on other reviews but I have to say over the years everyone that actually worked with the animals back in the kennel area were great and kind to them all all, boarders or strays. I have updated to 3 stars just to be dead in the middle as I don’t think I’m qualified now to be rating a business with no knowledge of their current procedures. I still. advise anyone to have a look at the kennel. area of where you consider boarding a pet I and they may allow that access now I just dont know.

Our Oscar and Nellie stayed for the weekend. Oscars, our puppy’s first time. They came home so happy and looking all pretty after their grooming. It is so nice to be able to go away and never have to worry about our kids with fur. We always know they are in the best care ever. Thank you everyone at Golf Rose Boarding and Grooming!

When I picked my dog up after a week of boarding, she had kennel cough, an irritated paw, scratches on her nose, and clearly hadn’t been let outside that morning even though I picked her up at 10:30am. Now a week later, she’s also developed an eye infection. I would NEVER take any pet back here.

I brought my two guinea pigs to be boarded here for the day while exterminators came to my apartment. The people that cared for them were professional and friendly. My piggies came back relaxed and well cared-​for. I paid $ 12 for each of them to be boarded. I asked about costs for my cats, and they quoted me $ 15 each. I will definitely return here for my boarding needs. Thank you!

First off, I’d like to say shame on you Unilocal!Shame on you for censoring user reviews because the company in question complains.
I received the following email from Unilocal regarding my previous comment about golf rose boarding and grooming:

The head honcho over at golf rose, has filed numerous complaints resulting in negative reviews being taken down. He has even personally called several reviewers and argued with them to remove the negative feedback. If you scroll down, you’ll see a link called «not recommended» where you will see a list of negative feedback (that will no doubt be removed soon) and a list of reviews that were removed for the same reason mine was.
It seems to me that Golf rose boarding and grooming spends more time censoring what their customers have to say and no time implementing change to better their business. These animals could be networked on various websites but I’ve seen several Facebook pages get shut down because they tell the truth about golf rose boarding and grooming being a kill shelter.
You should be doing all you can to help these dogs out, trying to save as many as possible.
If I need to list «direct customer experience», so be it.
I picked up a poodle from golf rose boarding and grooming 3 years ago who was supposed to be groomed. Her right ear was sliced up and covered in blood. When I questioned it, I was told she did it herself. Really? She scratched one spot that much in a short time to cut up her ear and leave it permanently scarred? Sure. She was white and there wasn’t a single bit of blood anywhere on her hind legs or paws to make their story believable.
On this same day, a few ladies were there looking at (what I overheard from Alice* at the desk in the BOARDING AND GROOMING building) stray dogs. Golf rose boarding and grooming is a KILL SHELTER. Deny it all you want, but that is what you are. The ladies were looking at a very cute rat terrier mix. He was white, tan and black and sweet as could be. I asked Alice* about him because I was interested in adopting after seeing how friendly he was, only to find out they had given these ladies a CUSTOMER’S dog instead of a stray. Can you imagine?! What if the dog had gotten loose and was hit by a car?! What if they’d taken him? How irresponsible of them!
2 and a half years ago, I picked up another poodle. This time, both ears were sliced up, bloody, inflamed and ½ inch swollen. Again, he did it himself. And again, no blood anywhere else.
2 years ago I was there and overheard mention of a chihuahua with a broken leg who had come in as a stray. They told a lady, who I assume was there meeting strays again, not to bother meeting him because they didn’t like him because he was «ugly» and thought he should be euthanized. Needless to say, I was furious!!! I went to the vet side and asked to meet the dog because I wanted to adopt him. He was the sweetest dog in the world, just insecure and shy. I saw a flyer at the vet’s office for a rescue that golf rose works with and contacted them about him and thankfully they saved him for me. I’ve had him since September 2, 2012 and he has been the most amazing addition to my family.
If you want to chance your sweet dogs being butchered by the groomers at golf rose boarding and grooming, by all means, take you dogs there.
If you want to risk them being given to a rescue, or potential injured or worse because they made a mistake– go for it!
If you treasure the lives and well being of your babies, run FAR away.

I just got off the phone with a woman (hospital side) who might be the rudest customer service person I have ever encountered. My husband had taken our cat to be groomed there once before while she (the cat) was a boarder. She came back with a hair cut since she is very fluffy and tends to get matted fur. It was my intention to rebook her. (I was told from the grooming division to contact the hospital division they have…) They could not find her record of having had a cut??? I told her I have a receipt… but they don’t have a linked system between divisions (??) The woman asked if I had her under anesthesia which I didn’t nor would I have allowed and they had no record for her. According to her they do cuts only under anesthesia. So she gets snarky with me and says, «well you called a hospital!» which was right but I was transferred from the boarding side of the business– which I told her. Then she went on to tell me how I need to call a «groomer» not a «hospital» in a patronizing way and that maybe I should try Petsmart… I feel as if she didn’t know that this was a RETURNING customer and yet she is being a real jerk.
I wish I had read the reviews before calling in the first place. Whoever answered the phone must have been involved in the other bad reviews.
Free Advice to Golf Rose: Root out your problem child and fire her. She is bad for business.

I wish I could give a negative rating. We lost our dog for 3 days and after speaking to the police department in my area they stated a dog with the exact description was dropped of at Golf-​Rose Boarding and Grooming. I called Golf-​Rose first thing in the morning when they opened and spoke to Amy. I mentioned the police department stated there was a dog there matching my description, her response was more than just unprofessional and it was down right rude. She first «chuckled» when I asked and then said no your dog wouldn’t be here I do not know what the police department was talking about. I continued to reassure her she has my dog and began explaining the description again, she once again said no.
Later in the afternoon, we made a call to the police department and they responded with the same answer, they believe Golf Rose has our dog. So my sister just made a drive over to the place, and sure enough it was our dog!
Once I found this out, I called Golf Rose and spoke to Amy again and mentioned I am the same caller from early in the morning and they did end up having our dog. Her response was «oh he was placed in an area I didn’t know, I didn’t look back in that area». I told her if she was unsure, her response to me in the morning should not have been a clear no.
Losing a dog is like losing a family member, you cannot take the feeling lightly. Amy’s response was cold hearted for someone who works with dogs/​animals on a daily basis. I am extremely unhappy with their customer service skills and hope people stay away from this place.
Once we got him back, he was very unhappy and not himself.

I went to the golf rose animal hospital as my vet. The building is nice and clean, so I figured I would try the boarding while I was on vacation. BIG MISTAKE. I picked my dog up at my scheduled time and he smelled like pee. I had asked (and paid) for grooming while he was there and clearly that did not happen. When I pet him, his coat was oily and matted in some places. I had provided them with twice as much food as he was likely to need, an entire bag of about 10 bones, and a new box of treats. All I got back was a bag of different treats. I was shocked at home much my dog was neglected at this place and will obviously not be bringing him there again.

I don’t know about you, but my dogs are very important members of my family. I stopped by to check out the facilities and ask a few questions about my dogs first stay at Golf Rose. The uninterested woman at the desk told me I could not see the facilities for insurance purposes. I asked her if she had a picture and she said no. I would never leave my dogs somewhere I have never seen. I left and decided to walk around the building to check out the outdoor runs. They were very dark and dreery with screens on all of the fencing so the dogs can’t see out or get fresh air. Dogs were barking and crying. It was horrible.

Went on vacation and brought my pup Tobias here to stay for a week. Got him back okay, happy, and smelly (opted out of the grooming while he was there) and it looked like he had been laying in something as his hair was all matted under his belly. He didn’t seem to mind, but I was a little miffed. I probably won’t bring my dogs back here for boarding but I do like the staff here and the staff at the Animal Hospital next door.
