The Scottsdale Resort At McCormick Ranch

Me and my wife booked a room not knowing that the Stillman King Room would be in a building away from the main resort known as the Stillman building. When we walked into the room it took all the wind out of our sails as my wife and I were expecting a resort style room. This was not. It was basically a studio with a kind bed in the middle of the room and everything else around it to fit. The bed was stiff even though it was supposed to be a pillowtop. The ice machine was away from the building and located at the pool. The Stillman building simply reminded us of a Hostel in the set up.
I talked to the front desk manager Maxwell who was probably the most nicest and customer service friendly guy I have ever encountered. I expressed my concerns and how disappointed my wife and I were. The hotel was completely booked, but he made miracles happen and got us into a room in the main resort. What a remarkable change. WOW. We had a view overlooking the golf course and the room was 10x bigger than what we had.
We enjoyed a buffet breakfast at Kitchen West which was an amazing set up. It was simple in the fact that it had the main breakfast items. The food was cooked perfectly and the staff was extremely friendly. Later, we enjoyed the resort’s main pool, which was nice experience. The water was perfect, clean. The wait staff was accommodating and super friendly. We ordered from the menu. The chicken strips were on point.
Overall, Maxwell, helped to make for a wonderful experience. The customer service here is a rarity :-)

The new renovated rooms in the McCormick building are really nice and the beds are very comfortable. Upon check in they gave us the wrong number of beds. So we switched rooms and once getting in the new room noticed stains on the bed, and blood stains on the pillow. It took over an hour for them to come change the bedding, but they gained the stars back for making it right and comping the room. Other than the bed mishap, the ²⁴⁄₇ pool was amazing and having a patio looking at the pool just put icing on the cake. Thank you Greg and Cindy for having fantastic customer service! We will be back for our next staycation! :)

Spent Memorial weekend at the resort and really enjoyed our staycation. The pool was beautiful and service was great. The food and drink poolside were delicious (the sangria and peach daiquiri so yummy!). Our room was on the 2^nd floor and was pleasant, the bed comfortable. There was a small fridge in the room, iron/​board, coffee maker, robes, safe and toiletries provided. We really had a great time with their 70s theme, super band that played by the pool too!

Not happy. Reserved 2 rooms which I told 3 different individuals that I needed to have them close to each other. Was assured no problem and when we checked in they were not close to each other at all. Also confirmed with the hotel that they had a Jacuzzi. After looking all over for the Jacuzzi we finally found out that they didn’t have one so this made me very angry. We had one room with two queen beds which was a very nice room while the other king bedroom we reserved was extremely small. The bathroom was also too small with the toilet being very low to the ground and also it didn’t work properly. Constantly hear air compressor pump and walls are very thin. Disappointed and won’t stay again.

We stayed here for a few days on a much-​needed vacation. What a phenomenal time. Beautifully appointed. Very accommodating.

My sweet husband brought my family and I here to celebrate Mother’s Day, and we had the best time! My kids loved being at the pool and the food was so awesome! I went to the spa for a manicure and facial and the only thing that bugged me was when I asked for a gel manicure they said they don’t do those even though it is right there advertising it? The women who did my nails and facial though were so nice and sweet. I loved that it was so close to shopping areas and restaurants, and our room was very clean and comfy for our family of 6! We had a blast and it was a much needed staycation

First off, we requested adjoining rooms and they didn’t have them. Then after we went out and came back to our rooms, there was bed bugs in our bed!!! First they gave us room service comp but I’m not sure a comp will make up for that nasty stuff! What the hell!!!

I’m staying here for a conference and I have 1 more thing to check out but I’m pretty sure I’ll leave the rating. I love the Spanish –Mission style (I think that’s the correct architectural vernacular. So it automatically is pleasing on the eyes, but the details in that mean so much more… The style of the corbels, the tint of the tile and the landscaping is just beginning. The tiles and insets in the exterior design, the chandeliers and even the hall beams are beautiful. There is no wasted outdoor space either. Plenty of breeze ways, covered outdoor patios and balconies, hallway sitting areas and huge pool deck, even an outdoor fireplace! I enjoyed all of it. My room has a lighted vanity mirror and a real bath mat! Clean beautiful furniture and authentic details scattered throughout the hotel and they didn’t skip the rooms either.
The staff is friendly and attentive. Fun on-​site activities such as a bike trail and they actually have bikes to use! Besides that the concierge is well informed and helpful. The wi-​fi was free and easy to access (I hate when the free one stinks, getting the password is a pain or there’s a charge for anything faster than basically dial up speed). The food was excellent. Beautiful courtyard to eat at well –spaced tables with pretty accents and cute center pieces. Awesome pool area and cabanas. I don’t want to leave.

Driving up to the Hotel was very nice, grounds were green and groomed. The valet guys were cool, the front desk agent was very friendly, lobby was nice, but the rooms were very small, I should say tiny and outdated. I’m not use to staying in rooms with no balcony or Windows that don’t open. This is Scottsdale, I need to be on a balcony drinking my Whisky on the rocks… not this time

We had a wonderful stay at the Scottsdale resort at McCormick ranch. We had filet mignon for dinner at kitchen west along with the meatballs, and cobbler! It was fabulous and tasty! Our server was darling– great ambience too. We went swimming in the new pool area at night and it’s still a little chilly for night time swimming, although the pool is heated slightly. Wish the jacuzzi was open, we would have definitely enjoyed that– the receptionist said it was closed for remodel. Bummer :(nice clean rooms, and great scones and Danishes for breakfast for a reasonable price. Hope to be back and visit again!

Our room wasn’t ready until 6:30pm. When I asked the front desk worker if the hotel could do anything to make up for the inconvenience, I was told a manager would call my room. No one ever did. Horrible customer service.

I stayed at this inn for a conference 3 days this week. The inn’s exterior and courtyards were really nice, very desert-​aesthetic and classic looking.
The staff at all of the meals were friendly, attentive, and did make the effort to go the extra mile-​even dressing Western style for an outdoor barbecue, which was a nice touch.
I do think the resort is reading the past reviews, because I didn’t encounter any ineptitude or lack of service at either the meals or the conference room sessions. Tables were removed of trash and used cups and glasses every break period and the water pitchers always filled, which was appreciated.
I do think they have tried to re-​vamp the rooms, but little touches of weirdness remained in mine, like the door where the mini fridge would be was empty and it was installed in the room elsewhere, but not fitting in the space nicely. Also the door handles on the closet were changed to a different style, but they didn’t fill the holes of the old ones, which is a tiny thing I know, but shows attention to detail– you know?
The décor and interior of the place have great bones– for sure… my room was the handicapped one, though I am not– and had a weird shower due to that. I didn’t enjoy the cheesy handheld job, as the cable but was always twisted weird. Yes, LOL, I survived despite.
The place is in a nice quiet area-​i even heard an owl close by at night… I can’t complain too much. I usually stay at 4 – 5 star places, but when I don’t have a choice because of work, I like to compare my reviews on that experience. This place is a solid 3+. :)

My second visit to the Scottsdale Resort at McCormick Ranch… the first was a wonderful experience in their small casita rooms many years ago.
I was surprised with a weekend stay for my birthday — an upgraded «McCormick-​King» room, about $ 200 per night, a very generous gift (a promotional rate for the resort’s post-​renovation reopening). The first evening’s plans included dinner via room service (due to a cake & birthday decorations already set up in the room), but there was one problem: there was neither a table upon which one might eat a room-​service meal nor chairs upon which one might sit to eat it. The large room had a great king-​sized bed and a leather reading chair in the corner… and it had a very large open space whereupon absolutely nothing existed, just awkward, empty space. This didn’t seem right so I went down to the front desk and asked if the McCormick-​King rooms had tables in them: «no» the front desk person said, «I can have them bring up a table and chairs from the patio if you’d like…», she offered. I declined (bring up patio furniture into the third-​floor room?), we’d just eat in the dining room.
Understanding that the resort had just completed its renovation, in the dining room we concluded that the reno-​budget must have run into some problems, as it has all the fluorescent lighting-​ambiance of a Walmart food court. Given that it’s such a beautiful property, it’s hard to understand how a property owner could decide, «yes, this is the ambiance that we want, and with it, we shall have loud country music streaming out from the kitchen…».
That said, and on a more positive note, our server, Sasha, provided a wonderful dining experience and our dinner was excellent. Cheers to you, Sasha (and chef!)!
Overall recommendation: there are nicer resorts for the same price elsewhere in town; the Scottsdale Resort at McCormick Ranch is a truly beautiful property but it suffers from uncomfortable management choices.

Resort is lovely, and staff was excellent. BUT, we went to a charity benefit over the weekend, and the food was inedible. This has nothing to do with staff, the location or the facilities. But everything that was provided food wise by the hotel was atrocious for a facility.

This hotel needs to be sold and have a complete makeover of the rooms. The common areas are nice. However the rooms are rundown and I felt like I was trapped in crackhouse. Okay, not really, but the rooms are really worn down. Don’t let the pictures on their website fool you. Gave them an extra star because the staff was really nice.

The resort is beautiful. The staff is completely incompetent. We ran an event at the Scottsdale Resort and the contract was completely one-​sided and dishonest. Many verbal commitments made were not honored. The hotel website does not function with mobile phones for group reservations. The hotel claimed nothing could be done. Obviously they didn’t even care to call their programmers. Meeting rooms weren’t ready or cleaned. The AV crew didn’t bother checking batteries. Rooms promised were later denied. Guests of our event complained about roaches, over charges on their bills, and the near lack of gluten free foods in the dining room.
Let me summarize, there are many hotels in Scottsdale. If you are thinking of hosting an event, you should explore other options.

My wife and I have stayed at this hotel many times and we love it. It has recently been purchased and went through a partial remodel. For some reason the contractor has not quite finished the project on schedule. The main pool had no heat and the pool bar/​kitchen area was not finished or functional.
Having said all of that, we still really enjoy this hotel.
I want to give a special thanks to Ken and to Jenna for working hard to make up for the pool shortcomings. With their attention to customer service, it was much easier to overlook the unfinished facilities.
This is a great base for hikes, walks, great restaurants and shopping. In a very short time everything should be in place and this will be one of the best hotels in the area.

So I love the area, the grounds are beautiful and as you drive up the driveway it’s really nice. The rooms are southwest style design and the beds are comfy! The pool area is nice and inviting, a hot tub would be nice to have!
Now the downside, they have let the vines take over the outside of the hotel and its looks not so nice. The outside needs a really good power washing and I mean a good one! I think they should chop down all the vines, repair what needs to be repaired under the vines, power wash the outside and then paint!

I was going to deduct a star because $ 179/​night seems expensive to me but I’m told this is not out of line given that it is a nice resort. The thing that I was VERY impressed with was the staff. The staff were EXCEPTIONAL by any standards — nothing was too much trouble for them (and I am a lot of trouble!). The chap in the bar made me the best margarita I have ever had — no mixer here! I watched him squeeze fresh limes, and he made me feel as though it was a pleasure for him to make it exactly the way I wanted it!
The breakfast wasn’t exactly cheap ($ 20) for the buffet but again, the food was exceptional. Even on the Monday when many guests had already left the night before, there was a full buffet with every possible thing you could ask for, including a chef making individual omelettes to order, using clarified butter as opposed to some horrid oil — fabulous!
There were two swimming pools, and a lovely poolside bar. There was free coffee etc in the lobby. There will soon be another restaurant opening near the reception with an indoor-​outdoor feel and lovely views.
We were in room 185 and it was marvellously quiet despite the resort having multiple conferences happening.
But the main thing I loved was how lovely the staff were. It really makes a difference.
It was such a pleasant experience.

Old musky carpet. Low water pressure and an uncomfortable bed… Plus there was a roach in the foyer. Not happy with the stay. Scottsdale has some great places to stay but you can have a better stay at a 50 dollar motel…

I was just here for the streamline summit. Pretty decent place. Nothing overly exciting. The staff was rather friendly and helpful. Not that they are affiliated but streamline made the whole week a lot of fun and did a great job hosting!

Awesome and wonderful

I booked this hotel on Hotwire. Star rating is WRONG. Rooms are very outdated. Hotel not clean. Balcony had spider webs garbages in the lobby full. Couldn’t even bear the thought of staying for a relaxing weekend there is nothing relaxing about this place. I was disappointed to say the least.

Friendly, nice, lots of character. Came here for a girls weekend and we really enjoyed our stay!
THE HOTEL: From the first arrival, the staff was super friendly and helpful. Directions, taxis, room amenities, no matter what the request, they were on top of it. Always greeted us and looking to help us out.
The hotel itself has been around a while, but has been kept up and has a lot of character, something the southwest is typically missing. They are completely shutting down and renovating the hotel this summer, so the next time I come, I will need to update this review.
The room was nice, spacious, clean: everything we were looking for. Beds were comfortable and I always appreciate in-​room coffee. I loved that it also had an extra sink vanity — perfect for three girls in one room. The only issue we had was keeping the room cooled down to our ideal temperature, I’m sure this will be fixed during the renovation.
Loved the pool area. A nice surprise that we didn’t read about was that the pool area had its own bar, we totally took advantage of this the entire weekend, ordering pitcher upon pitcher of white sangria, delicious! And Ken the bartender really took care of us!
Other amenities that came in good use: the coffee bar near the lobby, gratuity only valet, and only 10 minutes from downtown Scottsdale.
THE SPA
I’m from Vegas and so I have really high expectations of spas. I wish I could review the spa separately on Unilocal,but sadly not. I would give it a one star. If you’re looking for a good spa experience, book somewhere else in Scottsdale. I really hope that this is completely overhauled in the renovation. First off, some staff was friendly and others don’t understand customer service. The facilities are VERY limited and the prices are too high to not have a full spa experience: steam room, sauna, hot tub, etc. I paid extra for a spa pedicure and didn’t get what I was really paying extra for: foot and leg massage. And my feet definitely didn’t get taken care of because I still have dead skin on them (I know, TMI, but just saying). My massage wasn’t exactly great, I shouldn’t get anxious when having a massage, and I did. Keep in mind I get massages all the time. First, one of her hands was literally sand paper. And she rolled my knots, which is super painful. She didn’t really work them, just held pressure and stayed in that one spot… I had to put up with this for 85 minutes. My friend had Judy and had an even worse experience. My friend called out certain spots she couldn’t have massaged and asked the lady to focus on different areas. Judy decided she wouldn’t accommodate at all and became very rude. This behavior is simply not ok in the service industry.
Besides the spa, I look forward to coming back in the future!

The room was decent at best. The staff was relatively nice but inept. The conference planning was abhorrent.
The food in the bar was adequate but overpriced. The drinks were meh as well. Asked for a slice of Avocado and apparently the kitchen is a few floors away (that’s what I was told) because it took a full 20 minutes for the avocado. Mediocre food, mediocre service, high prices. Hmmm. Avoid.
The rooms are dark and dingy with low ceilings. The bathtub looked like someone washed engine parts in it. The sink sprayed directly at the front of my pants. Just really bad for the price, location and expectations. If I was paying $ 60 a night I would be ok with this place.
We had a conference here and it was so poorly put together by this hotel that I wouldn’t suggest or recommend this place to anyone under any circumstance.

The rooms are a bit ratty. The staff is unhelpful and rude.
ll the rooms are designated nonsmoking. Unfortunately that seems to be universally ignored.
Meeting room lighting is inadequate. AV facilities are ineffective.

Ugh I hate to do this, but I have to. Driving up I got a good impression, looks really nice, check-​in staff was friendly. We got a Casita room, and I’m thinking score-​Casita. This was not a good thing. It is back away from the main hotel, which was not an issue, but the rooms were tiny. The bed was tiny. My husband and I need a King. I thought that is what I reserved, but I didn’t make a big deal about it. Between the small, uncomfortable bed, it was noisy at 4am with people dragging their suitcases down the stairs. We did sleep very well for 2 nights.
The rest of the grounds were pretty nice. They have pools tables, fire pits, and a decent pool. The pool is pretty standard and plain, and I’m not sure if they are just getting into the swing of pool season, but it was highly disorganized. The bar staff was really nice, and trying their best, but they were running out of everything, having computer issues, and didn’t know who ordered what food. It looks like they have a plan for a renovation of the pool, which looks amazing, but hopefully they are planning to do something with the rooms as well.

I stayed here for the Super Bowl so I can’t really speak to the value as compared to the cost…
But the thing that stood out to me the most was that the rooms seemed so dated. It’s as if the fixtures, layout and amenities in the rooms haven’t been updated since the 90’s.
Another part I’m on the fence about is the grounds. Everything is very spread out which is nice for the sake of space and hopefully less noise. It’s great that they take you to your building via golf cart, but then you’re potentially quite a distance from the main lobby, restaurant and pool. So perhaps ask to stay closer to the main building if you don’t want to walk a ways.
The pool area is great and I enjoyed several good sandwiches in the restaurant. The staff were very friendly and helpful though, there was never any issues with service.

From beginning to end, we had a very nice experience here. Self-​parking is convenient and free. Lobby is spacious. Nice outdoor patio with fire pits. Espresso bar is very nice. Bar is average. Breakfast buffet was insanely overpriced at $ 20 per person, especially with several top-​notch breakfast restaurants within a 5-​minute drive. Room was very large, clean, and comfortable. Military discount was about 50% off and much appreciated. Staff are friendly, helpful, and attentive.

I had the opportunity to stay here since my employer had our annual holilday party here. As we got to the parking garage, it seemed somewhat small, but plenty of parking spaces so I didn’t mind it. The property is beautiful and we headed to our party. My review will strictly be about the stay here and not necessarily the holiday party — because the holiday party was fabulous!
We checked in and was given a room with two queen sized beds, which kind of bothered me a little bit. I wished we had a king size bed, but I just assumed they didn’t have any left as we checked in late. Our room was clean, comfy, and cozy — but nothing to brag about. There was no beautiful view from our window (s). I slept comfortably and checked out early in the morning since I was starving and wanted to eat breakfast!
We checked out seamlessly — I didn’t take advantage of touring the property and utilizing any of the amenities so I can’t speak about any of it. Overall, if you are visiting Scottsdale and just need a place to stay, I would recommend this place.

Let me start this review by saying I travel… I travel A LOT. So I have been to many hotels and resorts all over the country as well as handful of resorts internationally. So 5 star reviews for resorts don’t come easily from me!
My fiancé and I came to this resort looking for a place to book our 350+ wedding. Since I live in Wisconsin I thought what better way to figure out if this is the place is for us then to stay a 4 day weekend!
I was blown away from how nice and professional everyone was. Any time I had any interaction with staff they seemed genuinely happy to help with any thing I needed. This made me feel comfortable since a lot of my out of town guests would be staying there.
The rooms had a nice vintage and classy touch to them. And every thing was very clean. The luxury robes were even great quality. I read a few reviews saying the décor was dated… Which I do not agree. Vintage works here, I’m sure they are comparing it to modern hotels like the indigo. One is not nicer then the other it’s just all on preference.
The pool area was amazing, and the pool side service was a great touch. For some reason the cups that they bought your drinks in stood out to me. Every thing was clean and well maintained. You could even buy a burger right off the grill. They had a few kids there but not many, for me not having any kids it was nice that it was a more relaxed environment. But my 9 year old niece did joined me one of the days at the pool, and just stuck by me soaking in the sun. Every one seemed nice to her and didn’t mind there was a kid by the pool area for those of you with kids.
They have a lounge/​bar area that my fiancé and I hung out at night — where we played pool and relaxed. They were open late and It had a really nice crowd.
So when I was exploring the grounds I wanted to be able to peak in the hall– I didn’t have an appointment or anything… yet the banquet manager– a tall man (wish I remembered his name) not only showed me the hall but gave me a mini tour. He was so pleasant and helpful!
The hall was absolutely beautiful and so classy!
That Sunday we enjoyed their lunch Buffett which was very reasonably priced and very delicious.

After my amazing weekend here and great experience, it was safe to tell my fiancé we found a place to host our wedding!
