Kaffeeklatsch

Would not recommend Kaffeeklatsch due to service and atmosphere.
When we visited for coffee and breakfast on a Sunday morning, they were as busy as you would expect. 6 – 8 people. They were staffed with a barista, cashier, runner and a person in the bakery.
Despite this — as others have pointed out — they seemed unable to handle the load.
It took 18 minutes to get the cinnamon roll, and they had completely missed our breakfast sandwich. They charged us for it, but the runner was never informed. Meanwhile, the cinnamon roll just sat on their back counter, waiting for .?
Their runner was a sweet girl, the cashier courteous, and the barista a complete jerk. When I asked where the bus station was (to clear our table of previous dishes) he looked at me, rolled his eyes and just pointed down. It was blocked by another person, because it’s over their cream/​accessories bar.
When I told him it looked full, he snidely told me there were multiple levels. Which I realized. They were all full. He then opened one up, smashed a bunch of plates together and dug a hole in one. As a customer, am I supposed to rummage around in old dirty dishes?
The solution was to:
A) Take a load back to the dishwasher
B) Not treat me as though I’m a moron
C) Realize everyone under 30 has been a barista at some point and knows what’s up.
Coffee was lackluster. Biscuit on sandwich was incredible, but egg was gross. Cinnamon roll ⁴⁄₅.
The atmosphere is weird two tone green with pictures hung without any real rhyme or reason. The décor looks like they got it at a going out of business sale for a few other businesses. And the front door is automatic glass like you get in a grocery store.
The whole experience took about 45 minutes to get coffee and treated rudely by the barista. Never going back.

Great neighborhood place with a kids area. It can get loud but there’s ample seating and quick service.

Breakfast sandwiches are excellent, and make sure to get some fresh squeezed orange juice as well. Great neighborhood shop!

Their cinnamon rolls is mediocre, customer service on the other hand is just OK. I’m a person of color & I felt so awkward when I entered the room. No smiles, No hello & even the female employee gave me a mean shrugged when she walked past me. Unacceptable!!! I wouldn’t go back to this place.

Horrible customer service. Hoffman’s in Kirkland closed, so I needed a German bakery for the Christmas stolllen. A week before Christmas I placed an order by phone. I called today to confirm that my order for a stollen and cookies wasn’t lost. They couldn’t find my order. Not a big deal on the cookies, but I explained that I needed the stollen. My son picked up my order. He didn’t come home with the one item I need two days before Christmas! I called the bakery to complain. The clerk and manager were both rude and condescending! «Their store policy» isn’t to set aside stollen designated for a customer. I requested a stollen for free for the hassle. I am not driving back to Lake City from Everett when it is the store’s mistake. I will not go back.

We go here just about every weekend to get some pastries and a loaf of bread. Friendly staff, tasty goods, and a warm environment all make for a pretty great experience.
If you’re in the mood, the hazelnut latte is REALLy good!

My wife and I went all the way to this location with high expectations. My wife is from Munich and we have done this routine a number of times in her hometown and we’re hoping for something similar. The bottom line is don’t waste your time.
The staff behind the counter was unfriendly and unhelpful. The place was dirty. The hot chocolate was fair and the stollen was pretty good or they would have received one star.
All in all, a very big disappointment.

I have stopped in here several times as it is convenient to my workplace.
Breakfast sammys are DELICIOUS. Thr biscuits are flaky and moist, the egg thankfully not overcooked, with the bacon mixed in and the cheese is just enough to add a lovely bite without overwhelming the mouth. There’s a veggie option, but I haven’t tried it yet.
Pastries are pretty darn delightful. Simple and not too sweet, which is a nice change from the cloying, over-​wrought pastries you find in a lot of bakeries these days (hello red-​velevt, salted caramel and bacon cupcake with a cream cheese ganache and sriracha foam). I was a bit disappointed in the Russian tea cakes, they were dry the day that I had them.
The coffee. Oh, how I wanted to love it. I wanted this to be my go-​to coffee place, the place I brought new people to, a place where I could get my breakfast sammy and a hearty cuppa to start my day, but, alas! Twas not to be. Let me preface this by saying I am not a coffee aficionado by any means, but I know what I like, and this coffee is not it. I’ve tried two kinds of the drip and a couple of the espresso drinks and I just haven’t been impressed.
I’ll keep coming back for sure, I’ll just take my order to go & get my caffeine fix at work.

If you live around between the 120^th-​130^th area of Lake City Way, this place is one of few walkable café options in the area. I only come here out of convenience, and every time I do, I kick myself because the coffee is mediocre and the ambiance really isn’t that great for someone who wants to get some work done. The space, while large with high ceilings, is pretty poorly lit in the fall/​winter months, and if you want to plug your computer in, your only options are the few tables by the wall.
I’d say about 70% of the time I get a latte, the milk is burned/​too hot. I’m an extra shot kind of person, but an extra shot latte from here is especially bitter and unpalatable. If you come in during prime coffee time during the weekdays, expect to wait a little for your food and drink, because they always seem a little short staffed and harried.
It’s really off-​putting that they store the sandwiches (some of which have egg and meat) on the counter, unrefrigerated. Couple that with the big flies that buzz around the café in the summer and around the pastry cases and counter… yeah, not very appetizing.
The quality of the pastries varies. Their sweeter options are good, but I got a pretzel hotdog once for a quick lunch and found the part closest to the dog to be gooey and undercooked.

It has been a bit since visiting this coffee place. I went in about a week ago, to get some coffee and a pastry. While I stood in line I glanced over and noticed a fly inside of the pastry case. Sometimes those pesky flys make their way in somehow. As I got closer, I had to step out of line because I needed a closer look. There were A LOT of flys in there!!! I can’t imagine how they wouldn’t have noticed. It was terrible. I just left.
Clean it up!

Been driving by this establishment almost every day since it opened, today a friend and I finally went. It was good. We usually go to Staryucks up the street where I have to get flavor in my coffee just to gag it down. Here I decided on the drip and only added cream. It was very smooth. A nice brew. Well done! I also ordered a pastry, I don’t remember what it was called exactly. Traditional German Quarksomethingsomething… All the pastries are listed in German. I wish they would have an explanation in English underneath as I don’t think that people at the register want to go over each item with me. For a 12 oz drip and a German pastry it came to $ 5.81. Quite the deal and a nice change from the coffee monster chain up the street.. A nice addition to the new shops popping up along Lake City Way. I might of found my new fav coffee shop.

First time here. They didn’t really have a huge selection of pastries or sandwiches, which you’d expect from a bakery but the apple pastry was really good! I’d come back just for those. Only thing that kinda really turned me off was that there were little flies in the pastry case flying around food. I also order a vanilla latte which was delicious and not too hot so I could drink it right away, just how I like it!

Woo! This place was quite a delight. From the moment you walk in, this café is pretty open and homey. I thought this place would be small like a typical café but was pretty surprised to see how big it was inside. If you’re in a craving for some tasty German pastries, make a stop here. It’s definitely worth the time. =]
Looking at the pastry selection was a little intimidating to me (since I never tried out any German pastries before). However, the staff there is super friendly, and one of the workers gave me a thorough walk through of all the pastries and food they have there. Pretty much anything you eat (bread, sandwiches, pastries/​desserts, cheese, etc) are made from scratch and they also have a house brewed ice tea that is just super delicious.
For the sake of trying out new food, I got: the cheesecake, fruit blondie, LCW (Lake City Way) cookie, and the buttery square looking pastry (not that great at spelling German pastries). Each had its own distinct flavor and were equally yummy. For the cheesecake, I love the fact that it was light and fluffy, similar to how a sponge cake would taste and it wasn’t too sweet! Instead of the usual creamy texture of a cheesecake, this had more of a hint of cheese in its flavoring. For the blondie, this was a tasty treat filled with seasonal fruits that can change from time to time. Sweet but tart, this pastry went well with a dash of whip cream to it. As for the buttery square pastry thing, this was a bit sweeter than the other items I tried but it wasn’t too sweet. Buttery with a slight crisp, this pastry reminded me of a croissant mix with a Danish pastry. Finally, the cookie. Hurray chocolate chips and toffee chips in one! This is a pretty safe and tasty choice if you’re not feeling adventurous in trying out something new.
Overall, this was a great place to stop by for snacking. There’s free wifi and a few outlets near the eating area, so if you need to get some work done, this place is pretty nice to do it. Not sure if there are busy times at this café, but it was fairly quiet on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

Food is tasteless. Prices is expensive. I have been waiting to 7 min for a cap of Americano. My child could not finish the beggel, it was so dry…

Love this place! Great place for parents as they have a little play nook set up for the kids. Just come and enjoy a relaxing cup of coffee and a pastry! They also have some very unique baked goods. There seem to be a lot of German bakeries up here relative to the Bay Area. We ordered a soy cappucino, a pretzel, and something unpronounceable (bienenstich). Cappucino looked like a disaster (overwhipped crazy foam on top) but it tasted delicious. The pretzel was pretty terrible. Not fresh and very hard. The unpronounceable German pastry was excellent though so I forgive them that. But I love all things with pastry cream.
Guy who took our order was a hoot. Extra points for a really fun personality.

I’ve been eyeing this place every time I drive by and finally I stopped in. It took me only a moment to lock eyes (cue the violins) with the most raspberry-​rhubarb pastry. It had an authentic German name which I cannot pronounce but the kind and friendly baristas could. They topped it off with homemade whipped cream (which I didn’t even know WAS A THING). I am now enjoying a plate full of crumbs and a dark cup of Guatemalan coffee and writing this before I’m ¹⁄₃ through my cup.
Bonus points for a little play area for kids (I don’t have them, but I will enjoy having a focused coffee with my friends when they bring theirs!), convenient parking out back, and wifi. Auf weidersehn!

Still the worst staff. Is it Lake City? Slow and inattentive I don’t know how the nice food gets made. It takes up to 10 minutes to get coffee. Proves my wife is a saint since she waits

This is a cool little German oasis for me in Seattle. I love the breads they have and their sandwiches are also excellent on these european-​style breads. Coffee here is very respectable and the ambiance is very relaxed. It’s a big coffee shop, with so much more. I also came here for the 25^th anniversary of the Berlin Wall coming down, and it was VERY well planned and coordinated! I highly recommend this little gem. Lots of parking in the back as well as on the street. No reason not to go…

A gem coffee shop in the neighborhood. Very friendly service and too notch baked goods in house.
Their lattes and mochas are excellent! The latte art is amazing!
Highly recommend stopping in for a pastrie or bread loaf to go.

I was looking for a place to grab a quick cup of coffee and my boyfriend suggested I check out this local spot. He was right, this is a cute little coffee shop. The barista was incredibly friendly and happy to explain all of their baked goods. She welcomed several of the other patrons by name and made it clear that the folks here care about their neighborhood.
These are some great looking pastries. While I seriously tried my best to avoid devouring them, I had to indulge. I went for their laugenbrotchen (pretzel dough in a big ball) and it was delicious. My guy loves their breakfast sandwiches and everything else he samples.
Great coffee, delicious baked goods, definitely worth giving Kaffeeklatsch a try.

Laugen Brotechen, super… Blechkuchen. wirklich? in Seattle? und soooo gut. Leider ist Lake City so weit weg aber ab und zu muss ich doch hin. Ein frisches Brot, ein Stueck Kaese Kuchen, Mohn Blechkuchen, Himbeer Blechkuchen… und und und.
