Spoke to Dean, really professional and knowledgeable. Couldn’t help with my particular situation so he patiently explained my options at length and recommended a colleague of his that was much closer to me in WLA. Recommended that I call in if I had anymore questions. The friendliest hvac expert I have spoken to thus far.

Finally I found a top notch Electric company that’s not trying to scam me since I live in a fancy zip code. Electricians are down to earth, friendly (not creepy — which is common for LA) and very knowledgable. Reasonable priced, not a scamming mentality. Would recommend!

Kilowatt has always been very responsive to our requests! If I have a question or concern, or something goes wrong, they are on it right away. Customer Service has always been great! They ask for feedback and then respond to it. Their crew is great, and their office staff is very professional. If you need service for your unit, or need to install a new unit, contact them. Be sure to get a yearly maintenance contract to keep your unit running properly, and also a price list for services that might be necessary for your unit in the future.

My review stands. Never got my keys back, system sucked, and no one would help me. I just spent $ 10,000 on a new system for my new house and was thrilled to give the business to Costco. I prefer to work with businesses who want my business.

A++++++Absolutely the best customer service possible. Ellie got me booked for an emergency repair for my AC that had conked out in the 104 LA heat. The service tech arrived right on time, performed the repair and was super nice, knowledgeable and clean! No messes left. Great prices, friendly and honest service. I’m keeping Kilowatt’s number handy to refer to my friends! You just don’t get this kind of professional friendly service anywhere else!

Brilliant. The technician had the AC unit back working in no time and gave us many tips and hints to preserve the lifespan of our unit. Very honest and great value.

My wife and I just had our a/​c serviced by Mario and we couldn’t be more pleased. We signed up for their maintenance program and today was the first service call. Mario was prompt, attentive, honest and professional — a refreshing and welcome change after years of being ripped off by rude technicians from the former company we used (and who installed the HVAC system a few years ago). Mario gained our trust right away by the way he handled himself. His work was thorough, professional and noticeably effective while taking the time to explain what he was doing and why — indoors he wore shoe protection over his boots showing care for our property. During the service call, he took the time to also offer recommendations where our system could run more efficient with no sales talk (which was refreshing). He put his professional diagnosis and service recommendations in writing with straightforward pricing so we can evaluate and plan for proposed work in the near future. Job well done! Totally hot hot hot here today. AC stopped working and Dean Gifford was here within two hours with excellent communication before arrival. Fixed the AC unit within 15 minutes. Really nice and polite and showed me step by step what the problem was. Really appreciate the patience Dean. Highly recommended!

A few months ago, my AC died and I decided to replace the whole thing since it was 23 years old. Dean and his team came over and met with me to discuss the options. I ended up moving my furnace and fan unit from the garage up to the attic which gave me more needed space in the garage. They put in a more powerful AC unit and re-​ducted the house since the old ducts were outdated and had never worked very well. Finally, they put in a new electric breaker panel, since the old one I had been linked to fires and is no longer approved for use. So, I now have a completely new system that works great. A new thermostat also is hooked up to my wifi, so I can control the temperature from anywhere on my android phone. Also, there are sensors located throughout the house, so the thermostat is not just getting a reading from where it is located.
Needless to say, none of these improvements were cheap and it is hard to say if the price was the best I could have gotten, since I had received one other bid which was a bit lower, but not by that much. But, everything works fine and, when I had a small issue after the initial installation, Dean was on it immediately. He is one the most proactive contractors I have worked with over the many years I have owned my home.
My home is now much more evenly cooled on hot days and an air purifier, they also installed in the attic next to the blower unit, has helped cut down on my allergies. I would highly recommend Kilowatt for professionalism, knowledge and dependability. Sometimes paying a few bucks more for peace of mind and avoiding future problems is well worth it.

These guys have always been reliable and have done good work. Dean is serious about making sure his customers are happy. It is true that they are not cheap, and it hurts when I have to pay for service, but I’ve used them for several years, referred friends, and feel confident that I couldn’t find anyone more knowledgeable, nor more concerned about customer service. The office staff is very cheerful and helpful, and the line crew also very pleasant. Nice people to work with.

I cannot say enough positive things about this company and its staff. I had a new AC thermostat installed by another company and it was breaking down at least every two weeks. Not only could they not fix the problem, they made my power go out for two days, then finally said that I need to buy a new compressor for $ 3K. I decided to call Kilowatt for a second opinion. Boy am I glad I did. First Eric came and had my AC running w/​in five minutes. He adjusted all the problems and told me everything that was going on. He knew what he was doing to the tee. The following week, w/​o my asking them to, they sent two electricians (Jose and Dean) at no extra charge to fix the problems I was having with the circuit board that could’ve caused damage to my AC in the future. They fixed EVERYTHING, cleaned everything and said that to buy a compressor would be a total waste of money. They went above and beyond what i ever expected and it cost me a total of $ 350 for everything instead of a $ 3000 compressor that would’ve actually ruined everything according to them. These guys are AMAZING. And Jessica, the lady that set up all the appointments was also very friendly, cooperative and went out of her way to get me the fastest, most convenient service. Finally… a professional, honest, knowledgeable company in this day and age where everyone is just trying to rip you off or waste your time b/​c they don’t know what they’re doing or b/​c you won’t know the difference! Thanks guys… you are the best.

Today I had an amazing Unilocal experience. The President of this company, Kilowatt, called to tell me what they did about my previous review. They held a long meeting with their employees and went over what they did wrong. And he called me; apologized, listened to what happened, and told me (without my asking) that they were refunding the diagnostic fee. It really made me feel like I should use them some other time. That’s how impressed I was.
I decided to delete my previous review based on this – because really – what everyone wants when they complain is to be heard by someone who understands the complaint. And that’s what happened. I am not interested in hurting someone’s business (which is what negative Unilocal comments can do). I understand why they have previously received so many positive reviews here and on the Peachhead list.

I can’t say enough about this company. They were GREAT. Not only spending hours explaining all my options but once I hired them the owner of the company showed up every day to make sure things were going well. I’m THRILLED with the outcome but… more to the point
They treated me like a loved relative. When they found out that the wiring, I’d just paid $ 40,000 for was NOT what I’d contracted for, they took pictures, explained to me what was wrong, stood by me while I confronted the company that had done a HORRIBLE job. (My contract said they were to totally rewire my house) and even the permit said «partial rewiring» and they did a crummy job which I never would have known had Kilowatt not found bare wires and warned me against their dangers.
They also fixed other little things I needed fixing and, as I said, treated me like a loved mother. I will call them for EVERYTHING I need done in the future, and if they don’t do it I will take their recommendation.
I love the owner, the workers and I thank god they came into my life!
Oh, and, Dean the owner, told me in the beginning, «I’m not the cheapest, but I do a really good job». All I can say is: You get what you pay for!

I called Kilowatt after being told that I needed a whole new heating and air conditioning system. They were terrific. The repairman came the same day and was very professional. He fixed the problem and got everything working for $ 800. How do YOU spell relief? K-​I-​L-​O-​W-​A-​T-​T. Apparently I am supposed to be getting maintenance done on my system regularly. Who knew? I signed up for their maintenance club and it saved me money on the repair. Thanks guys!

I live on the top floor of a 3 floor condo building. For some reason, the original buildings put a bank of 3 condenser units on the roof right above our master bedroom! This caused severe vibrations and noise issues all night and day from the units.
After getting all the other homeowners on board to agree to do something I started to shop around for estimates from several companies. Originally I went with Advanced Air and Cooling who gave me a cheap estimate but would require I wait a month in order to get the discount. We all waited a month and when we called to schedule after that month he more than doubled his estimate.
I called Kilowatt at the end of my rope. I was tired from poor sleep due to the noise and it was the middle of the summer heat wave. The owner, Dean, came out the next day and took a look at everything. He gave us a very fair price and even showed my parts in the catalog ordering book so I could see prices. We scheduled the job to raise the units off the roof onto a new plastic raiser, install isolation springs, rubber and cork mounting and re strap it down. It took them about 4 hours to do all 3 units.
It was great for a few days and then the noise returned. When I called to see what might have happened, they sent out a technician the very next morning. There was some settling on the raiser from the weight of the units and they fixed it with some more rubber blocks and everything is pretty quiet again.
The best part is not only the top notch work but also the great team. Dean is wonderful and personable. Every one of his technicians and staff are so polite, amazing, and caring.
I signed up for their membership club and couldn’t be happier with their services. I know if I need anything in regards to heating and cooling, they will take excellent care of me.

Kilowatt has worked on our home & former rental property several times & for many years! Dean & his techs are always professional, thorough and clean with everything they do. We have never experienced some of the issues the negative reviewers stated. Their prices may not be the lowest estimate you will receive, but I can assure you that you get what you pay for. Personally, I don’t like to take chances with shoddy companies when it comes to servicing the HVAC system we keep in our home. Our children have allergies and we only trust Kilowatt for our servicing needs!

Kilowatt replaced my heat pump last summer. I received a few quotes, they weren’t the cheapest, but it was competitively priced. I was impressed with Dean’s attention to detail as he broke out a tape measure, got a ladder out and really inspected my old unit to make sure he speced the right replacement unit. He definitely did, it has been working great for a year now. All of his employees have been very polite and knowledgable. Dean’s made a life long customer out of me.

Dean and his crew did an amazing job on our house. They knew what they were doing, recommended the best solution for our needs, and gave us a great deal. Installation was very professional and done on time.
As a matter of fact, while doing installation they found a few issues which they were not aware of and had to pay more from their pocket but they took care of that as well.
